Chateau Yering in Victoria, Australia
Set in the beautiful Yarra Valley, the heart of Victoria's wine country, Chateau Yering is a window onto Australia's rich past. This Relais & Chateaux affiliate once welcomed parties of Melbourne socialites seeking a country retreat. Just an hour out of the city, the stunningly restored mansion was constructed in 1854 using handmade bricks and cedar timbers from New South Wales. Its thirty-two individually decorated suites offer unsurpassed rural views while cozy guest lounges with open fires are the ideal place for reading, conversing with friends or enjoying a glass of Yarra Valley wine.
In this bucolic setting, you can savor fine local vintages at Eleonore's, a conservatory-style restaurant overlooking one of the finest rural vistas in Victoria. For relaxation, stroll the gardens, which were laid out by the founder of the Royal Botanic Gardens in Melbourne, or walk around the river to Yarra Glen. Farther out, antique shopping, bush walking and wineries beckon. For an unforgettable experience, embark on a hot air balloon ride at dawn.

Reviews for Chateau Yering
Everything was amazing. Accommodation was great and comfortable beds. Great bath/room and amenities. With an amazing bath a bath/bubble/crystals would have been a nice touch. Dinner was great and all service was spot on. The only downside was paying $10 for a room service charge taking a cheese platter to a $45 cost. I was also expecting a turn down service. Would love be to return one day.

We stayed here for one night and dined at the fabulous restaurant for dinner. The hotel is a charming old building, refurbished to include modern amenities. Staff are very friendly and helpful on arrival and we were shown to our room by the receptionist. Room is very large and very comfortable. I like the decor overall. Buffet Breakfast next morning is great.

We spent one night at Chateau Yering in November. The hotel and its gardens are beautiful. Our room was beautiful and large -- with a large bathroom and a large balcony. The staff was very helpful (finding drivers for us so that we could indulge in wine-tasting without having to drive; helping us choose wineries to visit). We had a wonderful dinner in the beautiful dining room and a great breakfast the next morning. I liked the bath amenities (from Appelle's Apothecary) so much that I ordered the body lotion for myself, even though doing so meant paying for shipping from Australia to the US. I recommend booking the package that includes dinner; you will not want to leave in the evening to seek out another restaurant.

We are currently staying at the charming and wonderful Chateau Yering. Our room could not be more beautiful. It is large, decorated to perfection and overlooks the mountains and valley. Surrounded at times by the cows, who add to the tranquility. It is surrounded by a large stone veranda. Sitting on the veranda, listening to Australia's birds who sing so beautifully and watching the cows cannot be surpassed. RATINGS: Staff: 5 stars - helpful in every way Beds: So comfortable and plush you will not want to get up Linens: Large, thick fabulous towels Bath: Large spa tub and shower-large with marble floors Bedroom: King bed-plush ad comfortable with lovely linens- TV in armiore - pleat of storage Sitting room: Pure heaven, many large windows, french doors that open to a lovely veranda, decorated to perfection with lovely drapes and period pieces. TV, Fridge, Microwave Restaurants: Fabulous breakfast with many choices to order from the menu as well as buffet items at the Sweetwater Cafe.. Dinner at Eleonore's Restaurant - LOVED! Preset menu with many choices. This is a very relaxed dinner serving, they take their time so you do not feel rushed. Lovely food and wine selection. The only change I would make would be to add a swing on the lovely veranda or some comfortable lounge chairs. Walk the beautiful gardens around the Chateau.... one word for our trip, RELAXING

Popped into this iconic establishment for a morning coffee and even though they had just closed to set up for lunch, we were served a delicious cappuccino and pastries, by the most friendly, obliging staff.
