About the Hotel

Set in the beautiful Yarra Valley, the heart of Victoria's wine country, Chateau Yering is a window onto Australia's rich past. This Relais & Chateaux affiliate once welcomed parties of Melbourne socialites seeking a country retreat. Just an hour out of the city, the stunningly restored mansion was constructed in 1854 using handmade bricks and cedar timbers from New South Wales. Its thirty-two individually decorated suites offer unsurpassed rural views while cozy guest lounges with open fires are the ideal place for reading, conversing with friends or enjoying a glass of Yarra Valley wine.

Week end away to Yarra Valley

The property is nice and view is lovely. The rooms are spacious and bathrooms are good. However,it appears very neglected and needs updating every where. Also, signage is very confusing and we struggled to find reception area.

Classy Accommodation

This is one of the classiest properties we have stayed at - worldwide! Quality furnishings, such a pleasant room, and genuinely friendly staff. Congratulations to everyone involved.

Very, Very disappointing

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 weeks ago

We went to Château Yerring as a special treat for our anniversary. The staff were fantastic, but we noticed that Chateau Yerring was like a no-frills budget hotel but with nicer rooms. It started off well on the first night with a lovely dinner at the restaurant but the second night the restaurant was closed and there was not a single staff member on the premises after 5:30 pm.. We could not even get a drink or a cup of coffee from the bar, or light a fire in the drawing room, and if there was any sort of problem or medical issue, nobody would know because nobody was there. Other than the family with two small children across the hall from us I think we were the only people in the hotel. It felt a bit like The Shining. The morning of our departure, the restaurant was closed again and we were left with food that we couldn’t eat in our fridge . We were not given an option to choose . The hotel used to offer croquet on the lawn, and there used to be a wonderful luxurious vibe at the hotel, but it felt like management was cutting corners wherever they could and we noticed. The result was that it felt soulless. The staff did their best with the resources available to them, which clearly wasn’t much, and they were all lovely and friendly and helpful, when they were there, but the place was clearly short-staffed.. Also, having to ask to have our room made up in a luxury boutique hotel was a bit strange. We didn’t even know it was a thing because we hadn’t read the small print on the table until we realised that the room had not been touched. This never used to be the case. And in other hotels of this calibre which offer that, it is usually done the other way around where the room is serviced by default and where you can request not to have it serviced . Château Yerring was renowned as a luxury boutique hotel under the previous owners , but we left there feeling disappointed as it had not lived up to what was advertised and what it used to be. If I had known that, I would’ve booked elsewhere to celebrate our anniversary.

Huge comfy bed and great old Victorian setting. Nice views and great food. Very peaceful and relaxing atmosphere. Good selection of options for breakfast and quick and friendly staff on hand at all times. Huge bedroom with sitting chairs and tables.

Such a delightful experience.

The hotel is very charming and beautiful, and the grounds are really delightful. Rooms are immaculate, very spacious and comfortable. Four of us dined at Elenore’s restaurant, and it was a truly wonderful event. The chef is an absolute gem with outstanding skills and imagination. We all enjoyed every delicious offering presented to us. The wine list is brilliantly curated, as you’d expect at such a venue, but it was lovely to fine a few delightful surprises listed. Our waiter was warm and knowledgeable, and made a terrific effort to ensure we had a great night. Breakfast the following morning was also judged to be a great success, again, waitstaff were faultless.
