About the Hotel

Poised on a 375-acre coral island, surrounded by the azure waters of the Indian Ocean, Denis Private Island Seychelles is one of the planet(TM)s most magical retreats. This romantic sanctuary is just a 30-minute flight from Mahé, on the rim of the Seychelles plateau that divides the archipelago(TM)s inviting shallow waters from the mid-ocean depths. Each element emphasizes the natural bounty of the region, from the elegant sea-facing chalets to dining experiences that include candlelit dinner à deux on the beach. Once a pirate(TM)s lair, the island boasts numerous treasures waiting to be discovered. You might embark on a nature walk in search of local tortoise, board a Mako 34(TM) Striker for a day of fishing, or visit the old village, whose buildings date back to the 1930s. Bottom fishing the flats is another popular way to unwind, as is scuba diving, canoeing and exploring the unique, diverse eco-system that has changed little since explorers first arrived on these pristine shores two centuries ago.

Reviews for Denis Private Island Seychelles

A beautiful private Island, with fantastic staff and lovely food.

A rubbish start to our holiday after a couple of days stuck in the Dubai Airport flooding chaos plus a lost luggage situation, which didn’t help. I can’t thank the lovely staff on Denis for doing their best to make us feel welcome and supported. The staff are amazing and absolutely nothing is too much trouble. Thank you for looking after us and being infinitely patient ☺️. We appreciated each and every one of you. The food is fantastic and we enjoyed every meal, including the speciality BBQ and Creole evenings. Also a good wine cellar. This is a lovely Island, with a great ethos and trying hard in the battle to improve conservation. Lots of birds and of course, the tortoises and turtles… snorkelling with the turtles is a joy. There are challenges here, there’s no glitz or glamour but if you’re looking for an authentic experience in the Seychelles, on a beautiful private Island, with fantastic staff and lovely food, then I would highly recommend.

Our third time!

We absolutely love it there ..the lack of internet access in our chalets is a real bonus. You are forced to unwind. We loved our chalet , number 12, as we could swim directly from our room. All the staff are wonderful and the Giant Tortoises a real pleasure. The white birds are fascinating….one chick had fallen off her branch..so I hope that by wrapping it up in my serong that her mother didn’t get human scent. I put her back on the branch…so fingers crossed! We will definitely go back next year - for longer! The only downside, is getting the visa…a real hassle.

Paradise Found

The flight is an adventure in itself and sets the tone for the whole island and visit. An absolute paradise of an island. The snorkelling was amazing in the warm waters that surround the island. The villas are spacious; the Alfresco bathroom fabulous. The food is absolutely superb served by amazing waiters who are friendly and caring. A couple of areas were not so good: The organisation of the boat trip was not good and our trip was changed 3 different times and when we did arrive at the appointed time we weren’t expected. Our son organised a surprise for us for my birthday but it didn’t happen. The first we knew of it was when he asked us how it went. We then needed to enquire why it hadn’t happened. There was obviously a physical lack of management on the island and staff did not appear to be empowered to make decisions.

A superb and unique experience

This is a unique holiday experience. Superb hotel with exceptional food and service. On our visit there were around 30 other guests generally staying 3-4 days, we were staying for a week. There were couples, honeymooners, friends and families with children a mixture of ages. With so few guests it was easy relaxing and chatting, exchanging experiences of the island. Visually stunning sea, sand and coastline. Walking, cycling, sea swimming, pool time all so relaxing. Our particular interest is conservation and birdwatching and this island is a superb place to try and understand and experience a successful first class ecologically thoughtful vacation. From the excitement of the grass runway small plane arrival, to the exploration of the sea and island jungle, the conservation of threatened indigenous species and the very high service standard of the hotel this is a special world which was a privilege to visit.

Paradise!

My husband and I had an amazing week on Denis Island. It really was a slice of heaven and the perfect place to start our 25 wedding annivesary celebrations. A short 35 minute private transfer flight from Mahe airport to Denis Island by Zilair was exhilarating. We were met by the lovely and bubbly Caitlin, who was excited to impart her extensive knowledge about the island and what we could expect during our stay whilst we were transferred by buggy to the main reception, where we were greeted with a welcome drink and a refreshing cool face towel. Our first impressions were of a warm and cosy atmosphere, an airy island chic tropical pavilion with fresh cream sofas and lime floral furnishings to compliment. After checking in Caitlin took us to our cottage. It was amazing! Secluded but near to the main hotel. Large room with sofa and large bed with indoor/outdoor bathroom, his and her sinks and a shower and bath. Outside the cottage our personal day bed which, was just perfect, with sun loungers and chairs and a short walk down to the private garden to the beach. It was a private piece of paradise just for us. We cannot express adequately how idyllic our stay was. There was plenty to do if you wanted: cycling, snorkelling, swimming, deep sea fishing (which theislind is renowned for), tortoise feeding, spa or simply chilling out on what feels like your own personal beach. The food, most of which is grown/produced at the island's own farm, was oustanding. You will not be disappointed. The staff are warm and friendly, yet very professional. We have to mention Narender, Guyrenshan (our smiley bartender - wicked cocktails!) , Debra, Olive and Pradeep to name just a few who were so instrumental in making our stay so enjoyable. If you're looking for paradise... this is it! Thank you!
