From the minute we stepped into the hotel we knew this was going to be a bit special. The staff on reception were super helpful and gave us lots of info on what to do/see. Also got a hot flannel and a cold drink which was a lovely touch. Our room was fabulous, just no other way to describe it. Everything we needed and exceptionally clean. Breakfast was a veritable feast every morning and set us up for the day ahead. We had dinner in Veranda Restaurant one evening which was beyond spectacular with service to match. The highlight for me was the spa. An immaculate 20m pool, fantastic saunas and a steam room, and we indulged in some massages on departure day which were amazing. This holiday was to celebrate my husbands 60th birthday, and the staff made a real fuss of him and even brought him a cake for his breakfast. I cannot thank the team there enough. This hotel sets the bar for other hotels, THIS is how you keep your guests happy. Location, facilities, staff, food, I cannot find a single thing to criticise! A massive thank you to the hotel, you absolutely made my husbands birthday one he will never forget. I could write pages and pages on how good it is!

Wow! We stayed for 6 nights. From the very warm initial welcome to the staff's dedication to helpfulness throughout, this was a first-rate lodging experience. (And perhaps our best hotel stay ever.) We were offered a complimentary drink while passport information was obtained, and an engaging explanation of all the amenities available. Sabrina and Rosa at the front desk were particularly helpful with logistics and restaurant suggestions/reservations. Our luxury, extended room included a balcony on an inner courtyard (between buildings) and was very peaceful. A thank you note and 4 chocolate truffles beautifully presented on a domed glass plate greeted us as did a large bottle of water (replenished daily). The high-end Toto toilet, heated bathroom floors and plush bathrobes were a definite plus. And the amount of closet space was amazing! We also appreciated the tea kettle and selection of coffees/teas in our room for an early morning wake-up before our breakfast-included buffet and extensive menu at the Veranda restaurant. Every morning we were pleasantly greeted by smiling staff who were intent on making our breakfast a memorable experience. And it was: the buffet was delicious with so many unique offerings of hot and cold foods, while the extensive menu offered more selections including a "breakfast selection of the day". The location of Sans Souci is perfectly suited to sightseeing without constant crowds. A 5-minute walk to the Kunsthistoriches Museum Museum Quarter, a 15-minute walk to the Opera House and environs and Old Town Vienna, and a 30 min. walk for almost everything else. Plus the availability of the underground station a block away made it easy to travel more extensive distances, e.g., to Schloss Schonbrunn. Having never visited Vienna before, we were grateful that we had not chosen to stay in the middle of Old Town by the Cathedral, which was crowded even in October. Given all of the positives listed above, what really stood out was the consistent, overwhelmingly pleasant and helpful attitude of hotel staff. That does not happen by accident. It is a result of training and top management's emphasis on maximizing the guest experience. We noticed, and this is an exceedingly well-run property. The rate was not inexpensive, but for what was received it was reasonable and a true value. By the way, we had just come from a well-known 5-star hotel in Zagreb where the staff were far less welcoming and helpful. In the review of our stay there, we intend to suggest that they contact the Sans Souci for a refresher on staff training. Kudos and a great big thank you to everyone at the Sans Souci for such a memorable stay! We look forward to returning the next time we travel to Vienna.
