Reviews for Palais Hansen Kempinski Vienna

Awesome choice for a conference.

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 weeks ago

I stayed for 2 nights in this hotel for a conference that took place in the hotel itself. Great luxurious property with very nice rooms and facilities. They gave me a twin room, which was ok as this was a conference rate, and I didn't expect much flexibility. The room was spacious, with a marble bathroom and a very comfy bed. Breakfast was very good, with many quality choices, awesome surroundings, and great staff. Would stay again and recommend this property.

Nice, but not exceptional and not worth the money....

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

First the positives. The architecture is stunning, the lobby is grand, and the rooms are spacious and refined. Large windows and high ceilings make already spacious rooms seem much bigger than they are. The location is tops. The gym, however, is located in a basement with little natural light and limited equipment - I expected more from an Anantara property. I also am not sure as to why the spa opens at 11 AM only, which did not fit with my schedule. breakfast was also served in a dark secluded area, which wasn;t very welcoming. A good stay, but not worth the cost, and I would not stay here again.

5 star needs a revamp

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 months ago

The hotel is nice but i think it needs a revamp. We are in a junior suite which the furniture is worn and chipped. The doona covers have holes in them hmmm. The best thing is the coffee machine which makes a lovely coffee. Breakfast was okay but had better at a 3-4 star hotel. The pool is lovely and the sauna was great. Centurion Amex recommended this hotel but i wouldn’t return. And i will be letting Amex know as it is part of the fine hotels they recommend. I had to phone to get coffee replaced and not enough towels. You wouldn’t expect this from a 5 star hotel.

Decent luxury property in Vienna

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 months ago

This is a decent luxury hotel in Vienna with excellent concierge services (thank you Samy). The hotel offers excellent breakfast, though other dining options are limited (quite basic). The staff members are helpful. Overall, a good property (recommend staying in higher category rooms & suites, like we did) for a stay in Vienna.

Excellent hotel, very minor quibles

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 7 months ago

We stayed four nights at the hotel to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary, We booked a Hansen suite and it was perfect. Very roomy, excellent décor, great bathroom, large comfortable bed, clean …. hard to fault. Whilst it was more expensive than our usual hotel booking, overall we considered it to be good value for money. A few very minor criticisms: * The hotel is not as centrally located as some of it's competitors. It's a 1-2km walk in to the "old town". We used the fairly expensive taxi's to get to attractions such as the Schönbrunn Palace. Public transport is excellent - once you get to grips with it. * The hotels food menus didn't really suite our needs (my wife is vegetarian), and were very expensive. The Edvard 'fine dinning' restaurant was empty when we looked in; the large and brightly lit lobby wasn't really a restaurant; whilst breakfast in the Wintergarten was a bit of a disappointment for someone who's default order is the "Full Irish/English" fried breakfast * The suite had two large TV's, but a walk-through of the EPG revealed that the only English channels were news based - BBC World, CNN and Bloomberg. A couple of English language entertainment channels would have been much appreciated when relaxing in the evening. * Servicing of the room was a bit hit and miss. On two occasions we left the room about 9 am and returned about 3 pm and it had not been serviced. On one occasion the maid had just arrived and we did a U turn and went to the lobby for half an hour. Finally: * We used the spa twice, barely anyone else was there - highly recommended. * Staff were always very helpful and friendly, without excessive over attentiveness
