Bitter End Yacht Club in Virgin Gorda, British Virgin Islands

For the family or couple that is not content simply lazing by a pool, Bitter End Yacht Club on the island of Virgin Gorda is one of the Caribbean's premier luxury water sports resorts. Uniquely situated on a stretch of mile-long shorefront covered in velvety white sand, guests can frolic in the surf, as well as snorkel, scuba dive, fish, windsurf or sail - just to name a few activities of choice. It is not all sweat equity at Bitter End Yacht Club, though. There is a spectacular spa on the premises where you can enjoy a wealth of treatments, or for added convenience, request a therapist to visit your room for an in-suite massage on your open-air deck.

The resort features a collection of charming cottages, newly renovated beachfront villas, an enclave of secluded bungalows, and a single and spacious two-bedroom estate. Sway gently on a double-size hammock attached to the posts of your wraparound porch, or sip wine as the sun begins to set. There are a handful of restaurants on the premises, including an English Pub (after all, this is the British Virgin Islands) with live entertainment on most evenings. A favorite place to spend lazy afternoons is at one of the resort's inviting beaches, which are ideal for swimming and fully equipped with lounge chairs and thatched bohios that add comfortable shade. A Condé Nast Traveler Gold List member, as well as a Travel + Leisure World's Best winner, Bitter End Yacht Club is the ultimate in barefoot elegance.

Years ago we bare boated to Bitter End for the best steamed lobster I've ever had - the dark rum & lime with a dash of tonic over cracked ice was memorable too! It hasn't lost a step. This place is always happy, if a bit loud, & that's part of the charm. Drop anchor here, sailors.

We yachted to Bitter End on Virgin Gorda and rented a dock space for the evening. They have a young many Nick who is amazing. He makes sure you can dock safely and then sees to any of your needs ie fuel/water etc. He also makes recommendations on food and drink. We had bar food that night but I had the breakfast buffet in the morning. I can tell you they make some of the best omelets I have ever eaten. It also iincludes making your own Mimosa's. Notice I spelled it plural and that is because I had three of them and there is no charge. The only other recommendation I would make is not to stay at the dock since it is expensive but pick up a mooring for 35 bucks and they have free pickup at your boat. Much more value. Please say hi to Nick for us if you go!

Was deliberating between here and Leverick Bay for a night in North Sound. Ended up picking The Bitter End so that we could chill out on land while one of our group went diving with them. Very nice setting and resort amenities. Grabbed lunch at one of the restaurants. Hung out on their beach, took a nice walk to northern side and watched some kitesurfers. Relaxing day and quiet mooring.

We spent a couple of hours at the bar sipping a cocktail and watching the incredible scenery right before our eyes! Cristal clear water, white sand beach and coconut trees. Then we had dinner at the restaurant and the food was just delicious. Overall we had an amazing stay and can't wait to go back one day!

We sailed here from Scrub Island Resort. We docked at the Quarterdeck Marina. It took a few hours but beautiful scenery and views along the way. The only route in for bigger boats is between Prickly Pear Island and Richard Branson's "new" purchase, Mosquito Island. It is a gorgeous route. The dockmaster, Vera, was very nice to us. The yacht club has 5 piers with about 35 slips. If you stay on the pier then you have access to hot showers. We did not use shore power but purchased water. They don't mind if you use generators -- we did only at night. The beach view is gorgeous. There is a free water taxi that takes about 2 minutes from the pier to Saba Rock restaurant. You also have access to the pool but it is about a 10 minute walk. Our flotilla of 3 boats and about 30 friends and family absolutely LOVED this location. A MUST see! This review does NOT include the actual "Bitter End Yacht Club" restaurant nor hotel. We stayed in our sailboat on a pier.
