This hotel is lovely, quiet and sprawling. The grounds are beautiful with many places to enjoy the view. The rooms are spacious and the balcony is big enough for a few people. The breakfast buffet was one of the best I’ve had. I especially love all the Asian food that was included on the buffet. The food at the lunch venue outside was delicious, I enjoyed all the vegetarian options. The hotel is in a wonderful location. The beds are very comfortable.

We won a stay at this property in a charity auction, and couldn't be more pleased with our experience here. Aside from being a philanthropic hotel who donated to a fundraiser auction, there are so many things to love about the property. The grounds are immaculate and include tons of exotic plants and flowers, several waterfalls, koi ponds, and winding pathways throughout the property. Everything is stunningly beautiful. The hot tub is privately nestled among the scenery, and it feels like you're escaping into a natural hot springs pool found in the jungle. The pool is large, and there was never an issue finding chairs. It's open 24/7, which was nice! We could even get pool towels after hours by helping ourselves to the cabinet. The beach is small, but the way it's designed keeps it well protected from waves. It's a sandy bottom, so water shoes are unnecessary. The waters in this area are eerily calm, which make it ideal for swimming or for children to enjoy. They host morning paddle board yoga in this small cove. The beach side restaurant is expensive, but the food was good. After dinner, we walked to the beach where the hotel has a light shining into the water, and we saw a stingray swimming around the rocks. Very cool! The service here is outstanding. We were referred to as "Mr. & Mrs." every time we were addressed by hotel staff, which was unexpected, but a very nice touch. We felt extremely appreciated, like the staff was truly thankful for our business and cared about making our stay as great as it could be. The concierge was helpful and provided honest feedback about excursions we were interested in, but probably didn't make sense to do at the time of our stay. We appreciated that he was honest and not just out to make a sale. He provided other suggestions of things to do, and we ended up doing a road trip excursion on our own that cost $0, filled with his recommendations on things to do and see. The room was comfortable. There was a standard tub/shower combo as well as a stand-alone rain shower. Two sinks. This bathroom was beautiful! My husband and I were able to get ready at the same time, which was a great time-saving bonus. We received a text message from the hotel after our first night checking in to see how our stay was going. We asked for different pillows, and the request was accommodated immediately. The breakfast buffet was wonderful. Again, outstanding service, and the menu options were plentiful and varied. The presentation was pleasing. There is a complimentary shuttle operating 24/7 to take guests to the shops and restaurants down the street, but it seems as if this town shuts down relatively early. There isn't much night-life, and we felt hurried after a long day of activities to get to a restaurant before they all closed. Housekeeping and turn down service was great, and we enjoyed the complimentary bottled water each evening. WiFi service was poor. So bad, we ended up using our data instead of staying on the WiFi. We wish we had more time to stay and explore the property more. If and when we return to the Big Island, the Fairmont Orchid is first on our list of places to stay!

Lovely situation, very clean and well maintained, super friendly and helpful staff. We stayed on the Gold Floor and it was perfect. In the lounge area the breakfast, afternoon tea and evening hors d’oeuvre were varied and delicious (and complementary!). The only downside was the exposure to high winds at the time - but that would be the same wherever you stayed.

Great for all ages, family friendly and helpful with disabled needs too. Great service, wonderful, kind employees, knowledgeable staff on local places to visit and do. Food a little expensive but definitely delicious! Comfy beds, spacious rooms, pleasant atmosphere and no drama. Beautiful location, access to ocean right there, safe and exploratory for the adventurous and more experienced w/snorkel gear available for those who stay at the hotel an hour a day. Pool is great to be able to access always!

Beautiful resort. Well arranged with big swimming pool and private beach. It is very expensive to stay and to eat but it is very beautiful and clean. I enjoyed Browns restaurant the most. Brown's daily has good breakfast sandwiches for about $10. All you can eat breakfast was pricy $27 if I remember right. It has a good variety with lots of choices of eggs, meats, breads, fruits, yogurts, even some Japanese breakfast options. Room was double bed with partially ocean view, it was a treat to wake up to see the ocean. Room service was great. I would leave a note if I needed something extra and they would always give me. Bicycle rent was free which was great. Resort fee covered all rentals for snorkeling, kayak and board rentals. Snorkeling is great and there are two turtles which live close to the resort beach and I saw them almost every day I was snorkeling, plus so many different types of fish.
