Perfect hotel in terms of rooms & activities & staff. The rooms are large. Free pickleball, snorkeling, yoga and other activities. The property is gorgeous full of flora, water ponds, path ways & ocean views. The beach shack has canoeing, scuba & snorkeling. Loved our stay!

Wonderful hotel, especially the setting. One of the best beaches for swimming and snorkelling in this area. Food was very good, especially the breakfast buffet. Pool was great and we really enjoyed the walking trail along the ocean. The sunsets from this place were incredible. Thank you to all the staff, the service was over the top.

My wife, daughter and I just checked into the Fairmont Orchid and had the absolute best experience ever with a hotel front desk staff. Sherry was so accommodating to our crazy, indecisive requests and moved all these reservations around so we could move to a different room on the other side of the hotel which we didn't like once we saw it, and ended up at the original room. She couldn't have been nicer and had every right to be annoyed and we are so happy with our beautiful room with a beautiful view for our family vacation. She truly made it special. Thank you Sherry, and thank you Fairmont Orchid, this is why we come back every year.

We stayed here for a week - a couple key highlights for us: 1. Breakfast is a must - it’s so good but I’d get the package before you arrive otherwise it’s very expensive. 2. Snorkeling in their private beach is more likely to get you a turtle sighting than anywhere else on this side of the island! 3. Pua at the front desk is an absolute rockstar. She helped us when their laundry machine went faulty (I mean it legit was disgusting) and when we needed a gratuity room to shower in on our last day. If we ever come back to the big island, there’s only one place we want to stay.

We stayed here for 4 nights in June. I believe the room was 2246. This is a 3 star hotel at best pretending to be a 5 star and I travel quite often. The lobby and main areas were clean and check in was okay. Staff is nice. The years of poor cleaning was apparent in our room. The room appears clean from a distance when you walk in. The patio furniture hadn’t been cleaned in weeks or months. There was hair on the bathroom walls and walls of the shower, toilet base smelled of urine, and caked up dirt in places not being cleaned regularly. Bathtub was rusty and needs to be refinished. Shower tiles full of mildew, worse than a college dorm. Linen and towels are obviously laundered, but they are old, thin, and need to be replaced. There were 4 of us but every single day we had to call for towels because they would only stock a set for 3 people for some reason. The pool is nice. Use of the laundry facilities is included and was utilized by us. We appreciated that. They also charge $38 a day for self parking, but parking is included in the resort fee at Fairmont Kea Lani in Maui. That location is a true 5 star resort and a gem. If I visit Big Island again, I would not stay here. For the prices, rooms need to be overhauled asap. We bypassed the time by not spending a lot of down time in the room. The one and two star ratings are accurate.
