The staff at The Jefferson is superb. The doormen, bell staff and reception team offered a VIP welcome and ensured that our every need was fulfilled. Our room was well-appointed and spacious. Our expansive bathroom was equipped with dual sinks, a soaking tub and a generous shower. The Jefferson is centrally located. Walk on fine days or access the best of Washington (White House, Capitol, Smithsonian Museums, Kennedy Center, Georgetown, shopping, dining) with a 5-10 minute cab ride. The Greenhouse restaurant provides a lovely brunch and lavish breakfasts, both with thoughtful, attentive service. The cast-iron baked eggs are a must at brunch. We tremendously enjoyed a nightcap at Quill, the Jefferson’s cozy bar. Take time to savor the Jefferson’s historic details. The marquee over the front door is both embracing and dramatic, and the lobby is stately. The Book Room is a quaint library filled with reproductions of 17th and 18th century books, supplemented by recent volumes written and signed by guests of the hotel. Most strikingly, documents signed by Thomas Jefferson, including presidential papers and a salary cheque to his coachman, are displayed in a hallway off the lobby. The hotel has its own historian, who is available to the public from 9 am — 1 pm on Saturdays. We look forward to returning to this exceptional hotel.

My family enjoyed a wonderful Thanksgiving dinner at the Greenhouse dining room with drinks later at the Quill, fun and historic. Manager Sasha made our multi day trip very smooth and pleasant. The intimate Jefferson stands apart from other hotels in DC.

This is my favorite DC hotel, both for the accommodations and the kindness and warmth of the staff. Highly recommended.

The Jefferson in D.C. is a historic and elegant 5-star hotel that is reasonably priced and located centrally in the city. We will certainly be back and would not consider staying anywhere else in Washington D.C.
