The Jefferson in itself is elegant, inviting, and truly is a beautiful piece of history. However, what made our experience perfect was the hotel staff. Each person we encountered went above and beyond to make our weekend special. One of the receptionists greeted us as soon as we came into the lobby and after a brief conversation we found that we were from neighboring cities back in North Carolina. Any time we had a question or needed advice throughout the weekend, she was right there willing to help us. Also, the valet service went above and beyond! Unfortunately my husband's truck was a little too tall to fit in the parking deck and they were forced to park it directly in front of the hotel for our entire stay. As I'm sure it was inconvenient for them to do this, they never once made it seem that way. We're certain that this created a hardship for the staff since the DC streets were so crowded but they insisted that it was perfectly fine. We will not forget their generosity and kindness! As for our room, it had to have been one of the best rooms in the hotel! It was spotless (and I'm a clean freak in Hotels) and the room was gorgeous! We had a full view of the Washington Monument from our window. The room was a little on the small side but this was expected because it's a historic hotel. I can honestly say this was the best sleep I've ever gotten in a hotel bed. There were a couple of charges on the final bill from the mini bar that weren't accurate but they took them off with no questions asked. I believe we were about 3-4 blocks from the White house and most of the museums were within a mile from the hotel. We walked most of the weekend with the exception of using the hotel's car service to dinner each night. We will definitely stay at the Jefferson again when we make a return trip to DC. Worth every penny!

Husband selected the Jefferson for this trip, and it was a wonderful surprise. It's a smaller hotel, with an exquisite history that is amazing. The room service food was the best we have had anywhere (including international 5-star hotels), and we didn't even need to order from the main restaurant menus to get this quality food. The salmon tartare was prepared with the most amazing ingredients and presentation. (That avocado layer added a lot, as did the sprinkling bits on top.) I could have eaten this non-stop, and in a way, I almost did :-) The only "down side", if there needs to be one (does there? maybe not!) is the very small size of the rooms. Apparently we were "upgraded", and there was still no way to walk around the bed if the bathroom door was open. This was probably the smallest room we've stayed in for decades. It was beautifully appointed in every way, but still... very small. (I think the even smaller room only had a queen bed; I can't imagine a king in a room any smaller.) I'm only mentioning this because it was a bit startling. However, we will return anyway. Everything else was so wonderful. Just walking in the door upon arrival, and one was taken back in time, in the most positive way possible... NOT "old"; but historic and beautifully restored/maintained - truly exquisite.

We were charged an additional, UNAUTHORIZED and separate $200.00 on our credit card AFTER we left. I contacted hotel staff twice and was promised refunds and other excuses given, but they did not follow through with the promises. There was no explanation given for the charge. I disputed it with my credit card company but the hotel made a fraudulent statement to the credit card company and the charge remains.

My wife and I celebrated my 50th birthday with a romantic night in Washington, DC. Based on recommendation from a friend, we choose to stay at the historic Jefferson Hotel. As we live in a nearby suburb, we drove in and valet parked. The bell staff are friendly and professional. Check in was a breeze and the staff very welcoming. Our deluxe king room was spacious and the appointment were quite luxurious. As we arrived late, we ordered room service. Our order was delivered promptly and the food quality was what I would expect from a luxury hotel. The following morning we had brunch at the Greenhouse. Again, the service and food were nothing short of spectacular. The price is very reasonable for the wonderful luxury experience and the staff are friendly and professional. A real 5 star experience.

Beautiful, historic hotel. Excellent service and most excellent food!! A 10 minute walk from the White House! The staff was very friendly and couldn't be more accommodating. We went during the holidays and the decorations were original and elegant!
