Loved this hotel, especially the service at the restaurant and bar!! Our waiter, Vernon, was the best at dinner. And, my favorite bar tender, Courtney, makes the best El Diablo on the planet!! It is a must for you cocktail aficionados!!

I booked two weeks at the Liaison - with a week in between stays. The location is a block from the Capitol and diagonally across the street from 300 New Jersey Avenue, the location of my office. The hotel lobby is small and adjoins a busy happy hour bar. Hallways are narrow, ceilings are low. Rooms are adequate with a modern decor. All rooms have doors to adjoining rooms. This is usually a problem at many hotels, but not so much here. During my first week, I asked for a quiet room away from elevators and was placed in #336, next to a Maintenance Room. There were nightly banquets, and the furnishings came from this room. There was constant banging of furniture and slamming of doors until past 11 pm several nights in a row. I mentioned the noise to the front desk, nothing was offered as a remedy. Bathroom amenities: Bathrooms are small and toiletries are sparse. My impression of this hotel is that they are cheap, wanting to cut corners. Sounds harsh, but I travel a lot, and that was my impression. They supply a small circle of face soap by the sink, and one small tube of lotion. Shampoo, conditioner, and body wash are in dispensers in the shower. When they refilled them, two were left without the tops screwed on. Since body wash doesn’t work well without an aerating sponge, I requested a normal bar of bath soap from housekeeping. It never arrived, and annoyingly, since I’d used the small face soap in the shower, they neglected to replenish the soap near the sink. Lotion may seem a minor issue, but I was in a post-op boot from a fractured foot and needed lotion for health reasons. During my first week, I waited three days for the lotion to be replaced. After calling the desk, it took over an hour and a half for housekeeping to bring it. The same thing happened during my second stay, also three days into my stay. I called the housekeeping manager and was told someone would bring lotion right away. An hour and a half later, I dressed and went downstairs to get it myself. Jade, at the front desk was super polite and empathetic and professional, even offered dinner "on the house". The housekeeping manager was less forthcoming but did apologize. A large bottle of Fiji water occupies precious space on the small coffee/condiment table - for $6. They never replaced the plastic bag in the ice bucket. I used a take-out bag on two occasions. Also, there was a day that I left an empty fountain soda cup by the coffee machine, along with the trash from the morning’s coffee. When I returned end of day, the empty soda cup was still there. Curiously, this was also the day the housekeeper left her card on the table, presumably to suggest I leave a tip - which I normally do when traveling. Bar: On some days (it's hit and miss) they offer complimentary popcorn with drinks. It's stale and chewy and full of unpopped kernels, but it's something. Other days, they don't offer anything at all. Tonight, the first of my second stay, I asked for "nibbles', and was offered a bar food menu. After stating that I was surprised they didn't offer nibbles, they delivered popcorn to my seat in the lobby. One more comment: I ordered Happy Hour wine for $9 – with tax, it was $9.90. I paid with a $20 bill and got $10 back – the bartender rounded up IN THEIR FAVOR. That struck me as uncool. I doubt I will stay here again. The nearby Washington Court looks much more enticing.

I usually don't comment on staff because I usually don't interact except on check in. Mikaela changed my attitude about the difference staff makes. Not only is she pretty, but she was welcoming a super pleasant. Everywhere in this hotel, people are very kind.

Art and Soul, Liaison's restaurant, is my "go to" place for a business lunch. Yesterday I had the pulled pork sandwich -- it was delicious. Our hostess, Dionne was, as always, warm and efficient. Our waiter was great, the food came quickly, but there was no pressure to be in and out quickly. I will be back.

Just completed a 100 person meeting at the Liaison. I was quite surprised at the responsiveness of all the staff and their 'can do" attitude. The sleeping room was comfortable and spacious. I ordered room service and it came quick and hot. Bertha in banquets was so accommodating and attentive as was Alan and the Front Desk.
