I really, really wanted to like this hotel, and give it a five-star review. But, there were a bunch of little things that added up to make it less than a perfect visit. Nothing earth shattering, but the smaller things..... I was only here for one night, and had a late check in. By the time I got to the hotel, I was tired, having had a very long day; I simply wanted to get into the room and get to bed. Well, after checking in, I had to return to the front desk 3 times (!!!!) before my key card worked. The front staff was extremely friendly, but it ended up being they gave me the key to the wrong room. We laughed it off, but it was one of those small things. The second of the small things was the fact that it was impossible to get to an outlet by the bed to put chargers in. The headboards were immovable; as a matter of fact, when I tried to get to the outlet, the headboard came out of the wall! I called the front desk, and they said they would send maintenance up to fix the one bed. After waiting about 20 minutes while falling asleep, I called the front desk to say don't worry about it, there's two beds, I'll sleep on the other one, and it can be fixed in the morning. They agreed, so I went to bed a fell asleep. To have maintenance knock on my door 30 minutes later, waking me up, to fix the bed. Again, completely friendly and helpful staff, but the little things like the missed communication. And then in the morning, when I most need a coffee...I find there is no coffee machine in the room! A luxury-style hotel, with no coffee pot...that was very disappointing, not having what I consider to be a basic hotel amenity. Like I said, I tried to like the place - the lobby was beautiful, the staff friendly throughout, the rooms in good condition overall, and I ended up getting a very good night sleep. The location was decent; not a whole lot around, but an easy walk to many restaurants, and only two blocks from a Metro station. It so happened that it was the those little things that kept this from a five-star review.

Big beautifully decorated rooms, great beds. Very friendly staff! Great location close to all monuments and memorials. No good restaurants in the neighbourhood, but no problem, after a day's sightseeing in the summer heat you can enjoy excellent food at the hotel itself. Although a big hotel, it has a cozy feel to it, not anonymous as most. I would definitely come back!

The room was clean, and the walls are thick enough to pretty much give you quiet. But the rooms had no coffee maker. The fridges are so stocked with mini-bar things that you can't put anything into them. The ice machines are only on two floors. Service was fantastic, though, and the location is terrific. Overall, I'd stay here again, but I might check out some other places for comparison in the future.

My husband and I just visited DC for a quick getaway without the kids. The hotel was gorgeous....the finishes both in the lobby the rooms were well done. Rooms were clean, bed/pillows very comfortable and the bathrooms newly redone. Well located and few block walk to the museums and sites. We booked 3 tours through the hotel concierge who was extremely helpful and knowledgeable of what the best way to spend our time would be. Very happy with the stay!!
