We were very pleased with this stay. Delightful, courteous staff, clean and comfortable room, and very convenient to the restaurant scene on 14th. Pleasant walk to the White House and beyond. And surprisingly affordable rates on the weekend.

I stayed here when it was the Loews and I have to say it is not the same hotel. The service is outstanding but the rooms now feel outdated and dingy. I actually checked out a few rooms and then checked out without staying the night. Could use an upgrade and I don't think it would take much but did not feel as it once did.

This is a great hotel, near to everything. Well appointed, clean rooms are very comfortable with a great desk, and an excellent reading chair. Good bed and a great night's sleep. No noise from the street (3rd Floor). I would stay here again. The bar and lounge offers very good food (pricey, this is DC). Slider at the bar was absolutely delicious; I had two!

First the positives: The Madison is in a fantastic location, and within walking distance to many attractions. The staff were warm and welcoming, and there was lovely jazz music coming from the speakers. The lobby decor is chic and modern, and the lobby bar is very nice with personable staff. Our room, on the other hand, was dated and had a musty smell. It was clean(ish) but comfortable. The mattress seemed tired, and the heating/air conditioning unit was loud and ran constantly, even after we tried to turn it off. The mini bar had several items missing upon our arrival, which automatically put me on the defensive, making me wonder what we would be charged for post check-out. The advertised robes and “luxurious” toiletries were not anywhere to be found. The towels were thin and aged looking - not even bright white. There was enough soap, but the paltry amount of shampoo and conditioner was barely enough for my balding husband. At least provide two of each tiny bottle so that each person can wash their hair without having to request more. Pet peeve! We had an uninvited guest in our bathroom in the morning: a roach crawling along the side of the toilet. BLEH!!!! I realize these things happen, but they really shouldn’t in a “four star” hotel. It put a damper on our stay - making us wonder what crawled into our luggage. We brought it to management’s attention, and they comped our bar tab and parking fee. They could not comp our room because we had booked through a third party. So yeah- you might save by booking through discount sites, but beware if you have a problem, the hotel “can’t” help you. Will we stay again? Nah.

Room was in terrific condition. Elegant Lobby. (No coffee maker in room). Stocked minibar plus snacks. Nice sized room. Granite topped sink in bathroom. Upscale trimming throughout. Drawbacks: As a gold member, we received free continental breakfast. Daniel our server seemed to pay much more attention to the paying tables. (Frustrating). Hotel website did not have a restaurant menu or state that they serve dinner or lunch. Vinyl chairs in restaurant in dire need of replacement as they are cracked throughout. The only newspaper in the lobby was China Today which is clearly propaganda.
