Worn down and unfriendly

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 day ago

Hotel is old and worn down. It feels dirty and unhygienic. Have a room on the 6th floor (although being a Marriot Bonvoy member and the hotel having 11 floors) which is dark and cold. The ventilation is running the whole time (windows cannot be opened) even if the aircondition is off. This old ventilation is incredibly loud and vibrating which is a nuisance during the day and absolutely annoying in the night. Feels like „sleeping“ on a boat directly above the motor. Maybe you don’t recognize when you have a room facing the multiple lane street which is a traffic nightmare in the morning. There are no gimmicks like night light in the bathroom or tea/coffee making facilities in the room. Staff is unfriendly, in particular in the Saga restaurant where they are serving breakfast. Location is mediocre, the good restaurants and shops are far away (but you have a gas station directly across). For the gym you have to pay USD 15 extra per person per day which is a joke and which they don’t tell anywhere on the website or during the booking process, only at checkin when it is too late. Summary: Not worth any money, go elsewhere.

Keeps getting better

Second time staying at this property and it just keeps getting better. The best hotel I’ve stayed in Washington. Rooms are luxurious and staff are extremely friendly. Location is fantastic and managed to go for a morning run to the Lincoln Memorial. Will be back again on my return to Washington.

Extraordinary Experience

This was a return visit for me - I have stayed at this property a few times over the last several years - and return as I always know that my experience will be amazing. This trip was beyond amazing - the hotel is in top form - the staff was just spectacular - from the greeting at the valet - to the front desk and club - everyone went out of their way to be kind and helpful. It was a very busy weekend in DC with the Correspondant's Dinner etc - their was not a glitch to be seen at The Ritz! Special thanks to Stacey Colescott and Nik Morgan who made sure that my stay was flawless. The hotel looks better than ever - and the food - perfection!! Those brownie bites in the lobby.... omg. Ten Stars for the entire weekend!

This Ritz is it!

I love everything about this Ritz Carlton! The moment you pull up you’re greeted by their amazing staff who are super friendly and helpful. I must mention two incredible staff members by the names of Zele and Sushan!!! Oh my goodness they made the stay so worthwhile. Zele will greet you with a warm smile and a welcome glass of Champagne and water. Sushan will then get you checked in, recommend great restaurants and give you the best customer service experience ever. I can’t stop saying good things about this properly. Also the bar there is great, the mixologist are super friendly. They really know how to make an amazing cocktail. Ten out of ten for sure. This Ritz location is clean, upscale and modern. Once you walk in their signature hotel scent puts you at ease and boost your mood. I’m obsessed. Also my sincerest gratitude to the staff member who was able to locate my jacket that was misplaced during my trip.

Afternoon tea not worth it.

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 months ago

Price too high for what you got. Servers were nice, savory was tasty, scones mediocre and really small, sweets were even tinier and taste was just ok. We walked in and were told we had to be finished in 2 1/2 hours since it was a timed event. We got 1 pot of tea each half full of leaves so by the time you are on your second cup it is starting to turn bitter. If you were able to get a 3rd cup, you do not want to drink it. At this point we were told they could refill it with hot water. (They never mentioned that before.) It felt as though the Ritz Carlton just wanted to make lots of money - $400+ for four of us, for as little effort as possible.
