Elegance on the coast of Rhode Island is pristine and inviting at the Ocean House. Iconic white washed facades and traditional architecture are captured by the sunny seaside and miles of white sand. This grand Victorian invites travelers to a slow paced vacation, set to the tranquil timetable of the tides, and sun, teatime, cocktails, sailing regattas, and bonfires on the beach. Perched on the bluffs of Watch Hill, the rebirth of a New England resort is meticulous, an homage to legends of the pass. Personal services for guests offer uncompromising accommodations and treatment. World class amenities are reminiscent of a golden age of hospitality and renewed charm. Whether in Winter, Spring, Summer, or Fall, your faultless destination is soothing throughout the year. A 12,000 square foot spa is overflowing from light, pale blue greens and washes of paint invoke the calming nature of the sea. Inspired by organic produce from New England harvests, therapeutic elements of the sea are for rejuvenation of the body, mind and soul.

I took advantage of the fitness classes offered at the ocean House resort as a guest staying for five days One of my most enjoyable experiences I had was the pleasure of taking Pilates class with Anita Bussey, and she is absolutely outstanding. Anita is not only extremely knowledgeable and professional, but she also brings warmth, encouragement, and a personal touch to her work. Anita’s clear instruction and positive energy made my class both challenging and enjoyable, and I left feeling stronger, refreshed, and motivated. She takes the time to tailor movements to each participant, ensuring a safe and rewarding workout experience. Anita is truly an asset to the resort’s fitness program, and I would highly recommend her classes to anyone looking to improve their strength, flexibility, and overall well-being. I am looking forward to returning as a guest in the near future and taking more of her Pilates and yoga classes. I also enjoyed the water aerobic classes offered. Thank you, Marion

It makes me sad to write this review. My family and I have enjoyed many summer holidays at the Ocean House since it reopened fifteen years ago. We have fond memories of eating shrimp and oysters at Verandah, long afternoon walks on the beach and late evening singalongs with Al as he plays his favorite tunes on the piano. Years ago, I enjoyed an in-depth discussion with the prior GM, Daniel Hostettler, a true visionary in the hotel industry. His philosophy "every detail matters" set the tone for the Ocean House in the early years after the reopening. Unfortunately, Dan's philosophy is a thing of the past. It no longer exists at the Ocean House. Our last several visits were checked with missteps and problems, clearly the details no longer matter. We tried to be understanding, we know even with the best intentions things do happen and some issues are outside their control. But what sets the bar of a great hotel, is how management receives and responds to problems. We've reached out to management and kindly asked for a response. Like other reviewers on Tripadvisor, no response.

From the moment we arrived, the staff was attentive and friendly. Knowing it was our anniversary getaway, they welcomed us with glasses of bubbly and continued the five-star quality service throughout our stay. The amenities and extras offered were very nice including snacks and soft drinks in the room, breakfast on our terrace, umbrella and lounge chairs on the beach, a bottle of champagne in our room to celebrate and always accommodated us for dinner at the Bistro. Our dinner at Coast, the Forbes five/star restaurant, was delicious and very reasonably priced for the seasonal pre-fixed menu offerings. The service was outstanding with a special shout out to Craig and Abdiel. I cannot say enough about how much we enjoyed our stay. We will definitely be back! Thank you OH for a very memorable weekend!

Pros: - Our room was nice. Spacious, relatively new, housekeeping was fine, quiet aircon and we couldn’t hear the neighbours. We were top floor, so had no one above us. Cons: - Food was really very poor indeed. Poor quality, badly seasoned, etc. I agree with the many other reviews mentioning bad food. Other than one dinner in the Bistro and some sushi rolls in the Secret Garden, everything was poor quality and only ever luke warm, not properly hot! - Service was also really badly organised and poor. I agree with a lot of the other reviewers that mention poor service. - Crowds! It was so busy and packed and loud! And this also impacted the service. It seems really to be catering for locals and its “members”. Not at all for its actual hotel guests. I say “gimmicky” because the hotel is someone’s idea of what an old, high-end seaside resort should be - and it fails. It just feels all a bit Disney…
