It is bold. Sexy. And, even a bit naughty. It is the Mondrian Los Angeles. Located on legendary Sunset Boulevard, with its entrance playing revolving door to Hollywood heavyweights, this hip hotel has reinvented itself in true Hollywood fashion. Its color scheme features a spectrum of warm and cool hues, public spaces with a minimalist design approach with Lucite accents and a hint of whimsy, and it makes guests truly feel as if they have crossed the velvet rope. Rooms are ultra-modern, almost futuristic, with floor-to-ceiling windows that boast views of the city and the Hollywood Hills, showers that create a rain-like affect, and textured walls that add interest. The suites have spacious balconies for sipping sunset cocktails and doing a little star gazing.

Just want to give props to the Valet crew Cesar and Brian. They are total pros and will make sure you get your care in and out of the lot fast with no problems. Great valet and makes going to the Mondrian that much better. Next time you go to the Mondrian make sure to tip these guys as they deserve it!

My husband used to stay here every year for work before COVID and had very positive experiences. Inevitable that it has changed but not all for the better. While the hotel rooms and staff are still good and the concierge is excellent the refurbished restaurant and bar isn’t really connected to the hotel any more. Getting restaurant bookings is hard and room service is limited and expensive (for example, you can’t order a glass of white wine to your room, only a bottle at minimum of $69). The young man on the front desk of the restaurant the nights we went there was truly obnoxious and quite hostile to hotel guests (not cool enough maybe). The bar and the famous Sky Bar are often closed for private functions so it is hard to get a drink at end of day/evening. And the pool is closed to anyone under 21 from midday so pretty much off limits to families with kids. Which it kind of is anyway as the atmosphere round the pool, especially on weekends, gets pretty drunk and sketchy. Overall not really for families.

The Mondrian remains a strong option for the LA business traveller. Rooms are generous and levels of service very good. In one or two areas, the age of the hotel's fittings does show at times. However the willingness of staff to correct more than makes up for any minor inconvenience. Relative to its competitors the value for money is very good. It's easy to have a meeting or a social here and the location is ideal for heading north to Studio City, east into Hollywood, or south to Santa Monica. I would definitely return.

Once you learn the hotel is loosely based off Alice in Wonderland, you'll see it in a whole different light! The design choices become so thoughtfully selected, with black and white checkered bathroom floors, pops of teal, multi-dimensional side tables, etc. It combines whimsy, with luxury, with traditional. The in room dining was very fast! I had my order within 15 minutes of placing it, and it was excellent. I wish I'd had more time to enjoy the pool, but learned it's an iconic spot in LA! The hotel is in a great location being clean, safe, and being the perfect central location to lots of other parts of LA.

We stayed three nights and didn’t want to leave. This hotel surpassed our expectations. The room was a good size with floor to ceiling windows giving amazing views of LA. The shower had a quirky feature of being separated from the bedroom by a curtain. Breakfast in Casa Maderna was delicious. Special mention for our housekeeper who kept the room sparkling and Rachel on reception. Would love to stay here again!
