Sunset Marquis in West Hollywood, California

Tucked just a block off the bustling Sunset Strip in West Hollywood, the Mediterranean-style Sunset Marquis is the ultimate urban refuge. This exclusive hideaway, which completed an expansion in 2008 by adding 40 brand new villas, a full service spa, and a re-launched restaurant, invites you in with lavish accommodations nestled on almost five acres of verdant gardens, 4,000 trees and plants, and koi ponds. A favorite of the hip and famous since opening in 1963, the hotel has hosted some of the biggest names in music and film, as well as discerning travelers from around the globe. Not to mention it's likely the only hotel you will visit with a state of the art complete recording studio. The magic truly does happen right here, at Sunset Marquis.

Los Angeles has it all, from the Getty Museum and the beaches of Santa Monica and Malibu to legendary shopping on Rodeo Drive. Explore the city's sights or simply luxuriate at the hotel, boasting two swimming pools and its own on-site recording studio. Drop into the Marquis' Bar 1200, where it's not unusual to find celebrated musicians. After a hard day's work, pamper yourself by indulging in a relaxing massage at the spa. And if you are going to live like an A-lister, you might as well eat like one - at the Asian fusion-inspired RESTAURANT at Sunset Marquis, where Michelin-starred chef Guillaume Burlion designed a menu befitting a king, Grammy or even Oscar-winner. Guests can also take pleasure in one of the brand new villas, including a 3,000-square foot luxury Presidential Villa.

I've stayed in all but the presidential villa. It's on my list ;-) I would like to thank Christine and Juliana for taking care of my off hours eating requests. They did it with smiles! Logan rocks, he might be the happiest person you can meet. Thanks again Sunset Marquis. See you soon.

My favorite thing about the Sunset Marquis is that it feels miles away from Sunset Blvd yet it’s so close. They continue to do a marvelous job of keeping a discreet feeling while staying attentive to your needs. The rooms are generously oversized for LA hotels and there are many corners throughout the property that you can disappear to.

love this place and have been coming here for twenty years, the bar is dark and comfortable and people are very friendly and generally a very fun place to have a drink with friends or make new ones. the hotel is always clean and accommodating, the staff very professional and the grounds including the restaurant are always welcoming and the foods delicious. you can also order food at the bar until 11pm I think. highly recommend it.

I was in town playing 2 nights at the Whiskey A Go Go so I chose the Sunset Marquis due to proximity and reviews. Upon checking in, reception handed me a key to my villa and said “no parties” which I thought was a bit rude, especially since I arrived alone. The junior villa was much smaller than it appeared online and smelled really moldy when entering the room. The room service was great but one of the nights they didn’t answer the phone and after leaving 3 messages and waiting a half hour, I finally called the restaurant directly and they helped me get my order in. I have to say that that service was really fast once your order is in. During my entire stay the TV wasn’t working properly. At first it wasn’t working at all and then maintenance got it working but after that the sound went in and out and so I gave up. The shower was really nice but the water suddenly got hot and scalded me despite the fact there was a thermometer supposedly regulating it. The housekeeping staff was thorough but extremely pushy. On the 2nd night I requested nightly service after 10 PM and they called me two times then knocked on the door at 9:55 to see if I was gone yet and there were 3 of the staff acting very impatient. I wasn’t quite ready to leave but they came in anyway and started making the bed while my stuff was still on it. I left while they were cleaning and when I returned to find the same dirty glasses from the first day of my stay and they never filled the ice bucket at all. The following morning (After getting in from my show at 1am) housekeeping was pounding on my door repeatedly at 8:45 to see if I was still in the room. After the disturbance requested a late check out so I could go back to sleep for a little bit and was refused. Their reason was someone requested early check-in. I guess the people that are already here aren’t important. They advertise late check out when you get a villa. Don’t believe it they don’t honor it. Overall it was an okay stay and the grounds are beautiful, bed was comfy. Didn’t feel like 5 stars to me. I would give it 3 based on the fact they couldn’t give me an extra hour. In most of the find hotels I’ve stayed in that’s not even considered late check out. For the steep price of the rooms they don’t make you feel very special.

Caught in between of the trends of the past and not quite caught up with the present. Look closely, not impressive..valet staff ambivalent at times and watched as we loaded and unloaded our car. (two Valet). Toilet not working upon check in. Check in and check out ok but not warm and genuine.Room was nice. Charged us for shaving cream, Really..Who does that any more. Two many options out there to return to this. However, Waiter in restaurant was excellent. It seem this hotel needs a wake up call.
