About the Hotel

Tucked just a block off the bustling Sunset Strip in West Hollywood, the Mediterranean-style Sunset Marquis is the ultimate urban refuge. This exclusive hideaway, which completed an expansion in 2008 by adding 40 brand new villas, a full service spa, and a re-launched restaurant, invites you in with lavish accommodations nestled on almost five acres of verdant gardens, 4,000 trees and plants, and koi ponds. A favorite of the hip and famous since opening in 1963, the hotel has hosted some of the biggest names in music and film, as well as discerning travelers from around the globe. Not to mention it's likely the only hotel you will visit with a state of the art complete recording studio. The magic truly does happen right here, at Sunset Marquis.

Reviews for Sunset Marquis

A Wonderful, Calm and Quiet Hotel

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

I had a wonderful stay at the Sunset Marquis. This was my third time staying there in the past 18 months, so I obviously like it. It's truly an oasis of calm right in the middle of West Hollywood. The location is great! It's just below the Sunset Strip, but far enough removed where you don't hear the noise of that lively area. It's within walking distance of a lot of places. (Granted, I'm a New Yorker, so walking is a preferred mode of getting around and longer distances don't bother me.) I also like the size of this hotel. I would describe the hotel as medium size, but it feels pretty intimate. It's not a high rise, so you don't get grand views of LA, but the lush landscaping makes for a calming environment. The rooms are great too. This time I upgraded to one of their Villa rooms and I loved it. Previously I stayed in two room suites in the main hotel building and those rooms are great, but the Villa rooms are exceptional. If you can swing it, I highly recommend getting a villa room. The staff is incredibly helpful and nice. I received a lot of help from Sara and Logan. They were both so incredibly friendly, but all the staff was great.

Gotta say the staff is great and super friendly. Luisa Maria in Housekeeping was friendly, efficient, polite, and overall awesome. It's refreshing to see people who go the extra mile in their kindness towards the clientele. Awesome pool here too and fantastic location. Eric

4/5. Next time I'll skip the villa.

Location: Nestled on a quiet street. Unfortunately the nearest metro is Hollywood/Highland with all the chaos associated with it. Bedroom: Picked a villa, which was nice. In retrospect, maybe not worth the extra cost. My unit had a neighbor upstairs, and two more below me so it's questionable how much more privacy there was. Bathroom: Large. Appreciate hooks near the shower door. My shower didn't close completely so there was a big water leak. Had to leave the shower mat hanging in the bath tub to dry. Shower: Large. Drained well enough. Great water pressure/temperature. Pros: Felt nice and secluded. Appreciate the complimentary car service within 2.5-3 miles of the hotel. But, we overheard it on accident. Should be part of the welcome spiel. Cons: Not convenient if you intend on using the metro.

Amazing hotel in West Hollywood

We have had an amazing time at this hotel. The grounds are beautiful, the room was spacious and clean and the every staff member was friendly and helpful. Added bonus was the hotel car that would drive you within 3 miles of the hotel. Definitely helped with the Uber cost. Our room 338 had a very small bathroom, but it was next to the elevator so I think a vanity was added to the room to make up for the configuration. Only heard people outside our room waiting for the elevator a couple of times. I would absolutely stay here any time I’m in the LA area.

Incredibly attentive, polite and cordial staff and accommodations. Our meal at The Room was one of the BEST we had in LA. We will definitely be back and can not wait to come and stay in the new Villas!

Everyone I encounter was exceptional in their authenticity, and doing what they could to make things great. Sunset Marquis is the best in LA. Thanks.

There is no better, hipper, more incredibly perfect place in LA than the Sunset Marquis. It's everything at once, and you are a part of it all.

My husband and I just came home from a 4-night stay at one of the new villas at Sunset Marquis and we think it's one of the nicest properties we've ever stayed! It's not just the incredibly beautiful room, it's also the immaculate landscape, the well-trained friendly staff, and the 5-star quality food that will bring us back to Sunset Marquis the next time we're in the area. We had a very pleasant time there, great job to the staff!
