I checked in to the '5 Star' Duxton Hotel Perth on 13th October, 2025 with my wife and six year old son. We arrived around 10 PM and had a great check in experience by Peter and a wonderful gentleman who was managing their Firewater Grille restaurant at the time. Even though the restaurant had finished its last order the wonderful gentleman ensured we got food from the bar. I was delighted by the customer service and believed I had made the right choice. Alas I couldnt be more wrong ! Over my 7 nights stay I realised that Peter and the wonderful gentleman were the only two people at the hotel who understand what customer service means. The housekeeping was truly atrocious as over three days I came back- after a long day of exploring the wonderful cities of Perth and Freemantle- to dirty plates and glasses lying in the room even though housekeeping had cleaned the room. This happened even after I complained to the front desk manager and he assured that he would look into it. However the worst experience was when on the 3rd or 4th night the front desk manager came up to my room and knocked on the door at midnight when my child was fast asleep. He claimed that there was a complaint of noise and I dont know why he selected to bother me and my family at midnight when my child was asleep. He never explained or provided any evidence as to why he selected my room as the source of the noise. This was truly borderline harrasment. I complained and was met with another lady who's last name ended with the letters 'ic'. Whilst she listened to this incident and the other instances of poor housekeeping standards sadly my words fell on deaf ears. She never got back to me with any explanation. I never received even an apology from anyone at the hotel regarding this intrusion at midnight by the hotel staff. Now you can understand why I have '5 Star' in quotes. The Duxton Hotel staff and managers clearly need a course in Hospitality 101 and Customer Service 101. They dont believe they work in the hospitality industry and dont understand what hospitality means except of course Peter and the wonderful gentleman who was working at night on the 13th of October. I will also be filing a complaint with the rooms director of the hotel regarding the behaviour of that particular manager who knocked on my door at midnight for no apparent reason. I also urge the Western Australian Hotels Association to consider a rating downgrade of the Duxton. The Duxton clearly doesnt behave like a 5 Star. Everywhere I went in Perth I experienced such great hospitality and service except at the Duxton. Friends, you are better off spending your hard earned money at any hotel in Perth other than the Duxton. After seeing dirty dishes and glasses lying in my room after the room had been cleaned I stopped eating at the hotel- one never knows whether they clean the dishes and glasses in their restaurants properly. In conclusion, avoid this hotel- they dont do the basics right and dont know what hospitality truly means ! Perth is a beautiful and wonderful city to visit...dont spoil your experience by staying at the Duxton !

I held three long-standing reservation for a busy time, made a year ahead. When a major event in the city was subsequently announced, the hotel deliberately overbooked themselves in order to bump off the cheaper booking and get a better rate from later reservations. Disgraceful and I risked being out on the pavement. DO NOT TRUST ANY BOOKING YOU MAKE WITH THESE SCAMMERS

I booked this hotel in January 2025 to stay in it from 20-26 November. On 17 October 2025 the hotel unilaterally cancelled my confirmed reservation and immediately sold my room at a much higher price leaving me without accommodation. I immediately contacted the property and spoke with the Reservations Manager who said he would try to reinstate my booking. He did nothing to assist me and I had to book another hotel at twice the price of my original booking.
