Reviews for The Westin Resort & Spa Whistler
We stayed here with our family of five. The location is brilliant particularly with children who are attending the ski school. The ski valet is also very handy as is the ski rental at the bottom of the hotel. The ski rental won't store boots so they need to be stored in the rooms which make it rather squashy.
My family and I had an amazing stay at this resort! The staff were all friendly and helpful. The location was prefect as it is right by the gondola and right in the village. We were in a newly renovated room and it was very nice with updated kitchen appliances and furniture. The bed was truly heavenly and I didn't want to get out of bed! I would highly recommend this resort.

We visited with our 6 & 8 year olds on their Winter Break. Disappointment started at check-in. Gold status means next to nothing here. Parking is a confusing, expensive mess. Front desk staff washed their hands of parking, saying âanother company does thatâ. Essentially no assistance in figuring out parking & payment for parking. Additionally parking pricing was not clear and much more than advertised on website. I had to help several people in the garage figure out how & where to pay and how to get back into the hotel. Parking could not have been more cramped. For a place that serves mountain guests, the parking slots were designed for tiny cars-instead it was full of SUVs and nobody could het their door open more than a foot. Public space was cold & empty. Very little chairs for lounging. Would have expected Mountain Lodge Feel but this was completely absent. Kid neutral-Lower ballrooms had kids games, movie and even an X-Box which was nice but the pool area was overrun with young adults trying to impress each other and there was very little in the way of kid friendly menus (this problem extended to Whistler Village as a whole however). Food-Very few tables in Fireside Lounge & NO KIDS after 8pm (though this isnât advertised anywhere). The food was actually quite good. Initially we were ignored for a LONG time until a bartender had apparently come in to assist. He was great! Otherwise little attention. The Coffee bar had terrible service (again not atypical for Whistler Village as a whole). Coffee bar workers (with one exception) were not attentive to waiting customers. Finishing with one customer & walking away and chatting when another customer was waiting who after 3-5 minutes should incredulously have to call after them, standing only 6 feet away, for service. Not only did this happen to me but I watched it happen consecutively to the people in front of me on 3 different mornings. Rooms are incredibly tiny but I guess thatâs par for the course. The rooms were otherwise nicely done and the tiny kitchen was actually pretty efficient given the amount of space it had been allotted. Bathrooms were fine-appreciated dry line. For a place that serves people coming in with snowy coats & boots, there wasnât a door side place to put theses items. Instead they had to come into the room getting melting snow all over the floor. Room linens were changed on bed but not sofa bed despite the fact that the bed was unfolded to be changed. Room was initially nicely cleaned but after that I was not vacuumed. An example, some popcorn crumbs on the floor from the night before were not vacuumed up. Dish washer was not run when loaded. Word of warning, if you have ski gear, they require you to keep it at CanSki downstairs where you will wait in line and pay a storage fee. I get that they need to do this to keep the rooms from being banged up & it didnât effect us as we werenât there to ski but I hadnât seen any warning about it on the website. The location is great, itâs right next to the two main Gondolas. Our trip simply wasnât very pleasurable or relaxing. The night of our return, once my wife was in bed she summed it up, âIâm better now that weâre home. Letâs go back but not to the Westinâ.
Booked during November through UK agency - No problems. Arrival @ hotel smooth , efficient & allocated rooms exactly as requested initially. One room reasonably modern & presentable throughout with a great room maid who cared about her room quality - family room not so good as âdatedâ & âtiredâ with no extra space for the extra double bed ( meaning that two âlarge singlesâ were sold as a family 4 room ! ) Hotel facilities & accessibility for skiing are good if you use them in a timely manner / wisely - otherwise queuing will become an issue everywhere as peak times do happen everyday ! Swimming pool & hot tubs + surrounding areas are all fit for purpose but not well maintained throughout by team members in a structured way ..... more importantly all of these areas are tired & not maintained effectively by a hotel that strives to be a 5 star. All food & drink consumed on site was above average standard + the service level matched - but the prices charged on every occasion reflected this hotels 5 star aspirations. Overall - this very large well located Ski related / corporate hotel is satisfactory & delivers on all of the key elements for an active holiday ..... the 5 star rating is over rated however with 4 star being the reality at best Value ? - as part of an agency âpackageâ we believe we should have benefited from more added value services from the hotel group so the value was below average due to the other issues touched on above Would we return ? - yes , but we would check the immediate comparable competition first !.

This is a resort of two halves. Firstly, the complex is huge and it is clear that the funds to maintain the property are not available. For instance, of the 3 lifts in the West block, 1 was not functioning at all and a second did not work for a day, which in a place 100% full, was not adequate. The rooms are good and clean, but tired. The better story is that the bar downstairs (the FireRock lounge) was good and the location in Whistler is excellent, with a 1 minute walk to the ski schools and the lifts. The ski valet service was also excellent. This place probably should expect to get a four star rating, but it will need to spend more money and get the maintenance in order to justify that.
