Perfect spot to stay in Whistler

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 day ago

We stayed 3 nights at this property in Whistler, we’d booked a studio room and were upgraded to a two room suite which was fantastic! The room had a full kitchen and we were able to get groceries in Squamish on the way into Whistler. Coin operated laundry is available on each floor (one set of washer/dryer for about 18 rooms) which was perfect for us and I didn’t not find the laundry to be busy or inaccessible. This property is located in Whistler Village and within 300 meters of the ski lifts and most restaurants, so it’s convenient but also on the edge of the village so it was nice and quiet as we were not facing any of the restaurants with loud live music or the hundreds of people crowding into the village in the evening. Self and valet parking available ($$). Staff were all friendly and very helpful. Perfect spot to stay and relax while being able to cook your own meals, if you wish, do some laundry and still be in the heart of everything.

Amazing Stay!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 days ago

We stayed at the Westin Whistler over the Canada Day long weekend in a one bedroom suite for two nights, and everything from start to finish was truly amazing. Check-in was smooth, and the reception staff were friendly and welcoming. Our suite was clean and spacious, equipped with a small kitchenette and a full-size fridge. We took a dip in the pool with our son and really enjoyed the large swim-in/swim-out feature. There were also several hot tubs to choose from, adding to the relaxing vibe. Each morning, we enjoyed the buffet breakfast, which offered great variety and attentive service. One of the best aspects of the hotel is its location, right in the heart of the village Highly recommend for a comfortable and memorable stay in Whistler.

A memorable time and wonderful experience in Westin.

Wonderful experience and memorable time for our family reunion and holiday. We were impressed with the spacious and comfortable rooms, warm and professional welcome at check-in and the cleaniness of amenities and high standard of housekeeping. We also enjoyed the delicious breakfast buffet with exquisite services. I will certainly recommend Westin to friends and family, and look forward to a future return. Congratulations to the Westin on 25 years of contributing to the vibrant Whistler community!

Worst Marriott Experience Ever

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

This was by far the worst experience I've had at any Marriott-branded hotel. Here's why: Poor Customer Service: Despite advertising 24/7 service, no one answered the phone after multiple attempts. When someone finally did, I was told to call back the next day—completely unacceptable. I ended up leaving a voicemail to the manager on duty and asking for a call back, no one returned the call, ever. Confusing Layout & Lack of Guidance: No one offered any assistance or direction at check-in. The room itself was small and underwhelming. Unwelcoming Staff: The front desk staff lacked any warmth—no greetings, no smiles, and no sense that they cared about guests' experiences, just the very minimum effort, swipe your credit card and done. To add to the disappointments, I was given an incorrect invoice, I had to call the hotel again—no apology or urgency from staff, as if overcharging guests was no big deal. For a Marriott property, this lack of professionalism is unacceptable. This stay left me speechless for all the wrong reasons. I will absolutely not return her, even as a Marriott Gold member.

Good hotel but not worth the price premium

I stayed at the Westin for two nights this June for a conference. I stayed here once before, but over 5 years ago when they were undergoing renovations. From what I recall, it only seemed the lobby was updated, as I didn't notice anything else as being changed. Check-in was OK, but rushed. Staff was friendly enough, but even though it wasn't busy, she skipped a couple questions I would typically encounter. First, as a elite member, I would normally get asked what welcome gift I would want - points or free breakfast. She assumed I wanted points, because that's what I "selected" when I checked in - however - she didn't realize that when you check-in via the app, there is no choice. The app forces members to select points, and then on arrival, we need to ask what our other options. She also didn't ask about whether I needed parking. Additional note: this is a "Resort" so it doesn't provide the same benefits as other Westins, so be aware of that. I know this from my last visit, but worth pointing out as people do their research. Room was fine. Large space, including kitchenette and small fridge/freezer. Fireplace. Comfortable bed. WiFi signal was strong. No complaints. Free breakfast at the restaurant was problematic. Basically no service. No one to greet you or sit you down, no clear instructions on how to use the voucher, staff were clearing plates and tables before finishing. Food was average, but service made me rethink taking the points instead of the free breakfast. The conference venue spaces were fine, except that at one point, the ceiling was leaking during a presentation. Food was fine. I didn't get a chance to use the gym or pool, but it looked nice. Located in Whistler Village, it's close to plenty of good restaurants, as well as Whistler Village shopping and activities. Overall, it was fine. It's a sort of higher end hotel with nice spaces and rooms. But the service level wasn't really up to expectations, and given the price, I think I would've been better off booking something cheaper. In fact, I stayed at the Delta one night after checking out, where it was cheaper and I felt more valued as a customer.
