Super short break?

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

We have just returned from an excellent stay at Tulfarris. We were staying in Room 209. It had a separate living area, very comfortable bed, coffee machine, tea tray and balcony. Plenty of space. Everything in the room and bathroom was very clean. Rituals products in bathroom. The ladies at Reception welcomed us warmly and were very helpful. We had dinner in the restaurant. It was excellent. The chefs do a great job. Quality food, beautifully presented and served by friendly and efficient waitresses. Last time we stayed, the hot breakfast was ‘self service’. This time, it was freshly prepared - perhaps because the hotel was not quite so busy. The hot selection was excellent. This is a golf hotel. We are not golfers but really enjoyed relaxing at the hotel and touring the surrounding area. We are already looking forward to our next visit! Thank you to all at Tulfarris for a great break.

4 peak challenge

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 weeks ago

Many thanks to the staff at the Tulfarris Hotel for looking after our group of walkers from Galway. After completing our second high peak challenge we were happy to return to the Tulfarris for some R & R. We can highly recommend this hotel and in particular the bar food.

Excellent hotel

Food ,location , staff and overall hotel and rooms are excellent . We have often booked a nite away in this hotel but this time we definitely have noticed a lot more attention to detail and cleanliness of the hotel . We were delighted to see the spa being opened and booked in for the afternoon for massages . It was bliss and the girls working there were so friendly and spoilt us. We had the 3 course meal included and the food is top quality as is the staff . Cannot wait to go back soon and will definitely be booking spa again :)

Never Again..

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

The location was ideal and the website showed the placed to be gorgeous so we went ahead and booked 2 nights B&B. The entrance was beautiful, nice & tranquil. Overall first impressions were brilliant. Laura on the front desk was polite and very helpful. We checked in on the Friday & had dinner booked in the restaurant on the Saturday so we went down to the bar to grab some food. Menu looked good so we had high enough expectations for the food. I ordered the BBQ pizza & himself ordered the beef burger. The burger which looked like it came straight from a frozen packet you'd pick up in your local Lidl that had been forgotten about in the bottom of your freezer for a while. It was burnt & barely edible. If you bounced if off the ground it would probably crack the floor and bounce right back up to you. (€21 for said burger). The pizza was soggy and mushy and didn't feel like you were eating a pizza at all. Every drink we got each glass was dirty. But at least the view was good. We paid the bill and let that experience slide and looked forward to the remainder of the stay. Our room was spacious and again cant fault the view as it overlooked the golf course. We just had to ignore the unknown stains on the carpet, hairs on the bathroom floor, stained shower curtain and brown marks on the towels. It was an adjoining room which initially we didn't have a problem with until it was time to go asleep. The bed being 2 singles pushed together created an awful gap that you had to continuously roll yourself out of to get somewhat comfortable. In the ungodly hours we soon began to hear our lovely neighbours - scream, shout, talk, laugh - yes you could hear everything in the adjoining room as the walls must of been made of paper. Also, could hear almost every door in the corridor slamming which would give you a fright when you're in and out of sleep. We also woke up to the noise of someone trying to open the adjoining door which was quiet unsettling. On top of this our main door was kicked and banged multiple times to the point where I felt like we were staying in a hostel and not a 4 star hotel. Fast forward to the next morning. Breakfast. You cant go wrong. Or so I thought. We were greeted & seated and asked if we would like tea or coffee to which we replied yes to both. We then proceeded to help ourselves to the buffet breakfast. Cant exactly say we were spoiled by choice. You had an option of rubber like sausage & rasher, pastry, yogurt, eggs, 3 bland cereals, toast, potatoes and well that was pretty much it. I went with the rubber hot food to which I regretted as it didn't sit well in my stomach. During the meal I was approached and informed I had to pay for my coffee (regular black coffee). Keep in mind breakfast was included in our stay yet just the coffee I had to pay for. I discussed this with my partner and we were both baffled as to why? As we finished our let down breakfast no staff were present in the restaurant for me to pay so we left and I thought ill ask them tomorrow morning. We decided to cancel dinner that evening as our 2 food related experiences so far weren't the best and made the journey into Naas to get a McDonalds which was one of the best decisions during the weekend. I think that says a lot about the standard of food in the hotel. We were tempted to pack up and leave a day early but stuck it out thinking it cant get any worse. Another restless night thanks to the poorly constructed paper thin walls. Breakfast again. We were greeted by one of the nicest staff members in the hotel, I didn't catch her name but she was lovely. So I decided to ask her about the coffee. To which she replied that tea and coffee are included with your breakfast and no extra payment for a regular black coffee. I think management need to have a chat with some staff and inform them as to what is included. I went with the safe option and just had the toast that morning. Finally, the professionalism of some of the staff was laughable. As were we having breakfast a staff member rocked up to what looked like the beginning of her shift (roughly 8am). Proceeded to finish getting dressed at the breakfast counter, cracked open a can of monster, grabbed a bowl of potatoes from the buffet and slouched behind the counter as if no one could see her. We just laughed as this really tipped off our stay. We checked out after breakfast and don't think well be back anytime soon.
