Best Panna Cotta ever

Beautiful place, traditional English hotel. Nice gardens and restaurant. Best Panna Cotta ever. Stayed with my husband as a treat. Staff are very polite and attentive. Hotel also has a nice spa with outdoor and indoor pool. Breakfast was included.

Awful room

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

Having stayed in other hotels within this chain I was expecting a special birthday weekend that would be a treat for me and my family. However the room provided was in the attic, had a very creaky flight of stairs leading up to the room and then reduced headroom throughout the room and bathroom. This was not detailed anywhere in the hotel website and I would have never booked if I’d known i would be put in a room where I couldn’t leave the room for fear of waking my baby, couldn’t walk my baby around to get her to sleep because of the headroom and overall became trapped in the room after my baby was asleep, The hotel knew I was bringing a baby and a dog which made the room entirely inappropriate. If they would’ve told me about he reduced headroom and stairs leading to the room I would have cancelled my stay. Massively disappointed with the hotel’s attitude to this, general staff were great but room was awful and nothing like the pictures on their website. Avoid.

A bit disappointing

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 weeks ago

Unimpressed unfortunately - maybe just bad luck but we paid 5 star prices (albeit a last minute booking but still) and the service, room and food were definitely 3 star. It bills itself as a luxury hotel. Staff were friendly but service was pretty slow and disorganised. Food is fine, nothing exciting and the same menu every evening - steak and chips, that sort of thing. Pool was fun and the kids enjoyed the trampoline too. Library and kids club is a nice touch. We’re left with a sour taste after paying so much - the experience just didn’t add up for us.

Family friendly hotel

Fantastic family hotel. Visited with our ten and 8 year old. They loved the movie night including popcorn and milk. My daughter did tie dye in the kids club and the outdoor play areas were really nice. Breakfast and dinner in the restaurant, nice food and service and kids disappear to the movie once they have eaten so you get to enjoy the rest of the meal. Would recommend to families. Staff friendly and accommodating.

Spa break that was gifted to me, that I finally got to use and the WG did not disappoint. Beautiful grounds

Early spa break for two. So much needed I had the loveliest massage, I didn't get my therapists name but I know she was born in 1975. Really friendly and did a great job. My friend's massage was also good. The pool is shallow (a bonus) and great to use. The water was tested when I was there. The sauna and steam room are also amazing to detox. Children are welcome in pool The food wasn't that great sadly, a set menu. My toastie was greasy and cold and my friend's beet salad was too small for an adult. But the young lady serving us was lovely. We didn't complain as we were on a chilled spa day, just a note for the future maybe. Thanks again to all staff, we will definitely return. It is a beautiful location. The staff are a credit to the hotel. It's a little bit of a rabbits warren for people with no sense of direction like myself, but we will be returning.
