Magnificent stay.

What an amazing place to stay, dine and relax. I appreciate it’s had some serious funding but this is one beautiful place set upon a view of the lake. It literally takes your breath away. The grounds are so well maintained too. We stayed for two nights and were given an upgrade to a superior room, which was spacious, comfy. The ONLY complaint I had about the room was that people walking outside on the corridor literally made the room shake which wasn’t too good. The conservatory room is amazing. We ate at Henrock which for the price was really good. Staff were very helpful and genuinely pleasant. Wonderful place.

Great hotel - well worth a visit

Before you even arrive at this special place, you are called by the hotel. Really unexpected but a nice touch nonetheless. Hotel is easy to find and we were greeted as soon as we arrived. Even though we were a little early for checking in, nothing was said and were given our key plus a little tour without any issues. The staff make this hotel - exceptional service, friendly and a special mention should go the lady looking after the bar area, she was really good at her job but also friendly and a pleasure to meet. Our room was lovely but very warm even with no radiators on. The bathroom is packed with Bath House toiletries so no worries if you’ve forgotten your things. The bed was really comfortable and we both slept well. The only gripe re the room was the lighting. At the desk, where there is a big mirror there is no light there to support putting on your makeup. Really struggled and couldn’t use the bathroom as the Tall one was in there. This could be easily remedied with a table top lamp. Breakfast is good but could be better - as I’ve mentioned before please could hotels bring back the buffet area where you can help yourself to fruit juice, cereals, fruit, yoghurt etc. I like to combine and measure my portion size and I especially like having that choice. Also, the waiter never got our order right on any of our orders - so much so that on the last day the Tall One had to send his breakfast back as it was wrong on all fronts. Whilst the full breakfasts looked plentiful, everything else was slightly underwhelming - sadly there is definitely room for improvement with breakfast. Regardless of this small area we would most certainly go back

Dog friendly?

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

We booked this hotel thinking it was dog-friendly, as you'd assume by their policy of allowing dogs to stay in-room (for an extra fee). We were very disappointed to find that our dog was not allowed in any of the lounge or bar areas. The staff informed us that we could sit in the entrance hall with our dog and have a drink there! We stayed over the Easter weekend. The hotel was very under-staffed. We waited a whole hour for our breakfast to arrive and, even then, we had to forego our cereal, which they'd neglected to bring over. We were told the restaurant hopes to gain a michelin star - not based on this experience.

Great hidden gem in the Lake District

We ate in the bar/conservatory, the food was delicious and the staff outstanding, thank you, The gardens and breathtaking views of the lake also added to making it a great experience, which we’d love to repeat. It’s not too busy at this time of year, so a good time to visit.

A wonderful hotel with the most gorgeous views of Windermere. The people who work here are so friendly and helpful too. Our bedroom was lovely, clean and comfortable. We were lucky enough to eat in Henrock in the evening and then breakfast was also really tasty. The perfect place to visit and forget any troubles plus, if you have an ev then they charging you can reserve.
