Reviews for Hotel Esencia
We enjoyed three days and nights at Hotel Esencia. We loved the staff, the wonderful rooms, the beach, and the restaurant. The service was excellent including the spa. It was a treat leave the room door unlocked and not carry a key. The coffee and pasteries in the morning were a nice touch.

We heard about Hotel Esencia while staying at a nearby resort, and came by for one of their "perfect" margaritas. We were so taken by the grounds, and staff (and margarita!) that we decided to try and extend our trip and will be back in the future. Five star meals, and made-to-order, fresh-from-the-jungle drinks for both our children, and us. A protected cove for swimming or snorkeling, jungle to beach paths, and perfectly appointed rooms with glorious AC when. Five star escape.... muchas gracias everybody on staff... We'll be back.
There is not enough good to be said about this hotel hidden away in the jungle: it's pristine and peaceful with beautiful grounds and a five-star restaurant that's situated next to the most amazing white sand beaches. My little one loved watching the peacocks roaming around and gathering hermit crabs on the beach while we sipped margaritas by the pool. We enjoyed the sounds of the jungle and the ocean, away from the sounds of civilization: loud music, crowds, cars, etc. We will for sure be back!
Dear Readers - please read this if you would like to read the opinion of someone who has been to 5 star hotels around the world - Hotel Esencia is one of the BEST I have ever stayed in and by far my most relaxing and blissful stay. Everything was perfect - chic, sophisticated, elegant, impeccable service, beautifully appointed rooms and amenities. But what I loved the most about Esencia is that despite having the five star rating and all that goes with it - it felt like I was the guest in a house from the pages of Architectual Digest in my own suite and with the most hospitable, thoughtful, caring host who was beyond tasteful and wanted to ensure I had the most relaxing, blissful and magical stay. I am so emphatic about the Esencia that I even had to read some of these reviews to try find the best and most impactful way to describe it - knowing if you’re reading it - you are probably in the deciding stage. Here’s the thing - it’s not only the best place by far in the area and Tulum, and in Mexico - but it is on par with some of the best hotels in the world which I have been fortunate enough to stay at including, The Capri Palace In Capri, Hotel Splendido In Portofino, Hotel Maurice in Paris, Villa Treville In Positano, AmanKora in Bhutan and more. What is so unique about Esencia is the personal touch. Every single element seems like it has been curated and vetted to the extent that every experience there seems like you are in a pillow of comfort, midst of tranquility, and bathed in design. My senses were completely satisfied beyond anything I could imagine. At this point - even 8 months beyond my visit - I still find myself gushing and wanting to go back as soon as I can and picking Esencia to go back to again and again rather than searching for another experience to top it. So to make it make more sense here are my thoughts on a few of many outstanding categories Food - ok this place is so amazing - the grounds, rooms, beach, and amenities - that the food could have been mediocre and I would STILL a go back but the food is AMAZING !! I have also eaten at many world renowned restaurants and have had Michelin starred meals and room service. BUT I am also from Los Angeles where some there is some great Mexican cuisine. The food and beverages at Esencia was so good that we did not eat anywhere else nor left the property (except for leisurely walks down the best for the entire time we were there - 4 days. I recommend the Fish Tacos margaritas and guacamole and chips but everything I had was incredible including deserts. Beach - private, non pushy but always there beach attendants and waiters, flawless fine white sand, chic comfortable chaise lounges, thirsty elegant towels. Decor - beyond chic - or note: the fashion and design books - the library in the common lounge area contains some of the best style tomes ever printed. I could have hung out for hours in there and wish I had but a fraction of them in my personal library. This is a lounge you want to hang out in even if it’s sunny. Yoga - wow - again - extraordinary. I am a 25 year yoga aficionado and learned from some of the worlds greatest teachers including Jivamukti Yoga founders Sharon Gannon and David Life, Baron Baptist, Steve Ross and Bryan Kest - I thought it was a great relaxing practice - perfect for vacation, the adjustments were on point and the care and gentleness of @yogarivieramaya got me into a challenging pose I was never able to achieve before. This was totally unexpected but our morning yoga class because one of the many highlights of our stay. Spa - world class, soulful but chic Staff - top notch - we never wanted for anything and the staff were incredibly pleasant. Hospitality - we were pleasantly surprised by the morning breakfast delivered daily without a peep and perfectly timed. Of note - the full loaded Ipod and sound system in the rooms - it’s a must for pre dinner getting ready and evening lounging. I can’t say enough about hotelier Kevin Wendell and the wonderful world he has created there. It’s the best vacation I’ve ever had and the most enjoyable, comfortable, and relaxing stay I have ever have had on one of the most beautiful stretches of beach. I have travelled the world and never been compelled to write a review until now. Thank you Kevin and your staff - I hope to be back soon!! All the best, Tracy Taylor

I headed to the oasis that is Escencia after staying in tulum for a few days - to say this place is paradise is an understatement. From the complementary daily tea to the peacocks roaming the property to the amazing decor and many nooks on the property to experience the peace and tranquility of the grounds - no expense is spared to insure full relaxation while at the hotel. And this is what I experienced even before we checked into our room. The Room was chic and well appointed - what I loved was feeling five star but it still retained the feeling of being in Mexico - don’t forget to listens to the pre programmed iPods before dinner while getting ready - Ibiza jams make you feel somewhere between Ibiza and the most current version of Mexico. The chips guacamole and fish tacos were so good - I ate them everyday and the margaritas were the best I’ve had without question. We loved the romantic and breezy feeling of the outdoor restaurant in the evening and didnt leave the property the whole time we were there. Thank you so much Kevin Wendle and staff for the most perfect and relaxing vacation - In such a magical environment.
