My wife and I stayed at the Belmont Governor’s Residence twice on our recent trip to Yangon. Both were for one night each as we arrived Yangon in preparation for a flight to another city. We had stayed here 5 years prior on another trip. Needless to say, we love this hotel. It has character, ambiance, and grace that made this hotel a pleasure to stay at. The nightly buffet was great and tasty with lots of choices. If we return to Yangon, we will definitely stay here again.

although some would argue that the Strand is more historic and the colonial quality has its charm, and they would be right, I prefer the Belmond Governor's Palace. It is tucked in quiet "embassy row" and is in a quiet lovely setting. Every detail is perfection, and each person strives to give each guest a perfect experience. Like Belmond resorts all over the world, this is one of the best properties imaginable. Best in Myanmar. I am sorry I can't find a way to review the "Road to Mandalay" which is their luxury river cruise where the accommodations, service, and attention to pleasing cannot be surpassed.

This is our second stay at this boutique hotel and it is the perfect retreat after an hectic day trip around the countryside. The staff are exceptionally aware and very attentive to their guests requirements. A gorgeous, very serene and peaceful residence I would highly recommend this hotel.

We thoroughly enjoyed our 3 night stay. The room was spacious and very comfortable. Luxurious bathroom with excellent quality toiletries. The service was outstanding, from the moment we were picked up at the airport, right through to our departure. The hotel restaurant is excellent. We loved the opportunity to partake in a private cooking class with the chef, making traditional Burmese salads and curries. We organised a day trip to Syrium and the Ye Le Pagoda through the hotel, it was a great day out with a very informative guide. This was our second visit to the Governor’s Residence and we would definitely stay here again.

I was truly positively surprised when we checked into this hotel. It is kind of an oasis in the middle of a very busy city. I rather stay at a place like this than downtown Yangon in one of the city hotels. The rooms are very nice (we had one with a balcony which was definitely a positive add on) and the décor of the hotel is very charming. Croquet is the thing to do in the afternoon. Breakfast buffet was rich and good but - unfortunately - lunch and dinner were awful. Not sure what their chefs former job was. There are many good restaurant in Yangon so we decided to have our meals outside of the hotel.
