Reviews for Young Island Resort

Relaxation in abundance

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 days ago

We have just returned from a wonderful 11 days at Young Island on the recommendation of friends. Originally booked a Superior cottage but Bianca gave us complementary upgrade to a Luxury suite with plunge pool No 10 for 7 nights and then a Deluxe cottage No 9 for the other 4 days. We noticed that the superior cottages by the beach were being refurbished but this did not cause any disturbances. The food was excellent every day, no buffet thankfully. All the staff in the restaurant went above and beyond. They even brought food to me at our cottage when I was under the weather for a couple of days. Thanks for that. I wanted to add that the bar staff were always good humoured , always served us with a smile. and able to chat when not busy. The resort has a lot of day visitors and the staff were very busy, one day visitors from a cruise ship arrived and my husband chatted to them though his German is limited!! The staff were all wonderful and could not do enough for us. My husband brought his fishing rod with him and went fishing three nights with Lennox who does the ferry from Sunset Point, off the jetty and the beach. He did catch quite a few fish. He needed to get some weights and hooks and he asked about getting these from the mainland but the lovely Silvan got them for him. Now that is service. Finally we want to thank everyone from Bianca to the gardeners and the ferry guys. Thanks especially to Bianca, Neal, James, Ronny, Josh and Princess and last but not least the lovely Lennox. We will be back Rita and Clive H

🏝️ Island Time at its Best 🏝️

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 months ago

We recently spent a few relaxing days on Young Island, and over it was a unique and beautiful Caribbean experience — rustic, charming, and just the right kind of laid-back. ⛴️ Getting There: Super easy! The boat transfer was less than 2 minutes — blink and you're there. Quick, smooth, and stress-free. It is about 20 minutes from the airport. 🏝️ Arrival Vibes: We arrived on a Sunday at noon, right in the middle of a bustling Sunday lunch buffet. It was definitely hectic and crowded, so if you're looking for a calm first impression, maybe aim to arrive earlier or later on Sundays. 💥 Noise: Heads up — there was loud music pumping from a bar/restaurant across the water until 4 AM. It was only that one night, but light sleepers, bring earplugs just in case! 🏝️ The Beach & Pool: The beach was lovely, with clear water and always plenty of chairs available. The sand is more pebbly than powdery, so you’ll sink in a bit when entering the water, but still beautiful. The in-water bar wasn’t open during our stay (likely due to slow season), which was a bummer. BUT the lagoon-style pool surrounded by lush tropical gardens totally made up for it — absolutely gorgeous and super relaxing. 🍹 Food & Drinks: Breakfast was included and delicious every morning. Definitely try the West Indian breakfast with fresh fish — so good! One day it included breadfruit which was a treat. Dinner was a 4-course experience that changed nightly and was very tasty, though a bit much for us (and at $70 per person, kind of pricey). The homemade bread selection is amazing. Luckily, you can order off the bar menu if you don’t want to do the 4 course meal — we had an amazing fish sandwich, and even saw the fisherman bringing in fresh catch! There are several restaurants across the water also. 🇻🇨 Service & Staff: The bartenders were awesome — super friendly, skilled, and always ready with a smile. Shout out to James who always greeted us with some peanuts, Neil who made an awesome Martini, Josh, Ronny and Princess. Great island energy all around. 🛏️ Rooms (Cottages): We stayed in Cottage 9 first. A rustic Caribbean-style cottage with AC, a private patio, and a heavenly outdoor shower. Loved starting our mornings with room service coffee and fresh bread on the patio. Our AC had issues that couldn’t be fixed, but the staff was great about moving us — and we ended up in cottage 6 with a private plunge pool, which was amazing. Highly recommend this cottage. Honestly, wish we had booked that from the start! The cottages up on the hill look amazing but be prepared for lots of steps. 🌟 Overall: Young Island has a real castaway-chic vibe — not fancy, but full of character, friendly faces, and natural beauty. We left feeling refreshed and already dreaming about our next trip with that plunge pool! 🚕 Private Driver: If you want to explore the island or need airport pickup I highly recommend Desci’s Taxi & Tours. You can find her on Instagram and Facebook.

Negative experience

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 months ago

I visited Young Island today for their Sunday buffet lunch. Upon arrival we were given no clear instruction about how lunch worked. We noticed other groups being seated but no one came to attend to ourselves, with very slow waits for drinks service. Food variety was good with access to breads, sides and meats. However I was appalled to find a stone in a slice of bread I was eating that I chewed down on. I immediately took it to a member of staff who apologised but no further action was taken. Upon receiving the bill, I complained again about the stone and was told there was nothing they could do about it. I was finally offered a 10% discount however the staff were not helpful and were very unprofessional in dealing with my complaint. Overall a negative experience on what could have been a lovely day for myself and my friends visiting the island. Young Island Resort fell far short of our expectations.

Simply the best place to stay when in SVG

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 5 months ago

My husband and I were fortunate enough to revisit this special island resort again this year when we spent a glorious 16 nights. This resort, expertly managed by the very hard working and personable manager, Bianca Porter is truly a special place to spend some time where you just slip into its calm and charming aura. We stayed this time in cottage no 11 which suited us perfectly; slightly elevated but conveniently located to the beach, bar and restaurant we spent many peaceful mornings and evenings enjoying the ambience from our patio. The cottage was very spacious with double bathroom sinks and a very refreshing outside shower! The staff have to us become like dear friends or family who greet us so warmly and truly add to our stay and comfort. We enjoyed the lively discussions with the men operating the ferry who were always so helpful and efficient in all they do. I must give a special shout out to Hermus, Charles and Lennox. The restaurant is always a pleasure with highly efficient and super friendly staff, delicious food and a spectacular setting to enjoy all meals. For my husband and I Young Island is simply the best place to stay in St Vincent offering traditional Caribbean charm. I note at weekends the music booming across the water from the mainland but that is no reflection of Young Island who cannot be held responsible for that both with regard to the government’s seemingly relaxed laws in that regard as well as the fact that music will always travel across the water but for us it in no way discounts the comfort and experience had during our stay. So long as we can we will always aim to return to Young Island and are already planning our next visit!

We were especially pleased by Young Island Resort, where we spent 7 very relaxing days. The food and staff services were excellent...we felt quite spoiled. We had our own private plunge pool and patio and so enjoyed complete isolation. There were also lots of fun destination trips from the resort - climbing a volcano, trekking to a huge waterfall, snorkeling, puddle jumping to other islands, and lots of scuba diving. It was a perfect combination of activity and relaxation.

We traveled to Young Island Resort in St. Vincent. The resort was exquisite. It was so tranquil and relaxing. The natural beauty of the island along with the magnificent treatment that the staff provides made it the ultimate getaway. We are definitely planning to return again and have recommended it to everyone we know.

Young Island Resort was everything described and more. It is a great place to go and get away and just relax. Probably the greatest asset the island has is the staff. They are very courteous, polite and anticipate your every need without breathing over you. You feel that you are a very special person indeed.
