My husband and I used to stay here often. We brought our then teenage children a couple of times, too. We recently were in St. Vincent staying with friends and decided to go to Young Island for their Sunday Curry lunch buffet. In a nutshell, it was a MAJOR disappointment. Instead of curry goat, which we were all craving, we got chewy beef curry. The only other curry dish was chick peas. Other dishes were unimaginative and one was spaghetti!! Dessert was fresh fruit, some kind of pudding and 2 DRY kinds of cake. The only good part of the meal was the fresh baked bread but they weren't offering banana bread at that meal--another disappointment. What we paid for 5 people to have lunch was ridiculous and certainly not a good value. Luckily we have friends who live in St. Vincent and we stay with them now since we wouldn't choose to stay on Young Island again--or even go back for another meal.

We took our flight from New York/jfk to St. Lucia, from St. Lucia to Union Island, from there we proceeded by boat to the private & serene beauty of Palm Island. On deck, Kathy the manager, and the staff whom we saw throughout our wonderful getaway were lined to receive us with a smile & welcome drink. . Absolutely, it takes great part of our day to arrive there & to depart, however like the Edith Piaf song, " je ne regrette rien". We stayed in a well appointed waterfront spacious cottage, with only few steps to the beautiful turquoise beach. The beach is not calm, there are waves but very enjoyable. The head chef ( BAKA) is jolly & accommodating. We had a craving for a particular seafood and he put it on the menu the next day. It was delicious. The fish tacos at lunch are so goooood!. The soups, the appetizers, the entrees & desserts are all delicious. It's the tropics, it rains, stops & rains again. . There are many iguanas & iguana poop, but they are more afraid of you then you are of them, & stafff cleans the poop. The only aspect that we weren't thrilled with, were the annoying black birds invading the dining tables, drinking glasses & utensils. The staff makes a valiant effort to get them to leave but it's temporary, they always comeback, the birds win. We had a routine of wiping our glasses & utensils prior to eating. When we would leave for the buffet at breakfast, we or the staff covered the glasses & utensils. It's a minor inconvenience There is a beautiful calm beach called sparrow, on Union island worth going to. The food there is amazing, love the acra. Bring bathing suits & towels. The boat captain goes back and forth, from Palm to Union throughout the day. He accommodated us. We tipped him & his one man crew ( $10.00). He gave us a pick up time . The taxi on Union worked for tips. There werre about six of us in the van, we tipped him $30.00). We explored throughtout Palm island. This must be what it feels like to own a private island. During our stay, there were 42 guests. Loved it. I wish I could remember all of the staff names, but I can't. Alaska in the office, always with a smile. Kenrick who climbed trees to get coconuts for us. Margaret & all the ladies at the restaurants, aimed to please and they went above & beyond. We travelled with our bug reppellent & didn't get any bites. We enjoyed ourselves and would return!

Sadly this idyllic place is on a serious decline; cheap mismatched linens, no pdates for years, no beach or pool service ; poorly maintianed infrastructure and a booming noise problem that can go on all night from a night club accross the water. Sad because it wa one peaceful haven.

Young island is so beautiful, the food is great, the bread melts in your mouth. My only thing is our villa was at the top, so we took the challenge to walk up to it and it took my breath away had to rest for a few minutes before I could investigate, but the view surely took my breath away because it was so beautiful. The villa is beautiful, it's a home away from home. We loved it and it was so nice swimming in the pool and yet enjoying the view. The walk was worth it but next time I will drive up.

Yet another Anniversary at this wonderful resort. It may not be the most modern or the fanciest resort but the service and food are exemplary, especially the breads baked on site. The rooms , the pool and the beach were immaculate and the service was the very best. In fact,Cheryl at Main Office greeted us with "Hi Tom & Gail, am I right in saying that you are here for your 57th anniversary--congratulations" How she remembers and the fact she cares is what makes this place unique. We also had the opportunity to meet the Governor General of St Vincent & the Grenadines Sir Frederick Ballantyne who is the owner of Young Island Resort. He came over, introduced himself and chatted about some mutual friends on Bequia , the island where we live then wished us a happy Anniversary. A gracious host and and a highly respected official in St Vincent & The Grenadines. God willing, Gail and I will be back for our 58th.
