We recently booked a quick two night weekend getaway to Bardessono. We were a little hesitant to bring our 2.5 yr old as so many hotels in the area cater to adults only. However, we were pleasantly surprised. The pool has the largest family cabana we have ever seen and, while we were there, the pool was not heavily used by other guests. Rooms are very spacious and have a very private feeling with great outdoor space. Complementary morning pastries and coffee are also a nice touch. We booked the room with Chase points - a great way to use points!

We spent 3 nights at Bardessono for a birthday celebration. While the property and the rooms were lovely, for a 5 star hotel, the service was really disappointing. The woman who checked us in and gave us a tour was quite lovely. Our room was also nice, but 3 of us were sharing and the friend who booked had asked if there was a pull out sofa, and was lead to believe yes. But there was not. So she slept on a tiny, narrow sofa for 3 nights. We also had an odd experience with the concierge when we asked him for hiking recommendations and he told us he was ‘allergic to exercise’ (twice) and therefore couldn't help us. Another less than acceptable service experience was the breakfast our first morning. We were going on a long hike and wanted something more substantial than coffee and pastries served in the lobby. We sat down in the restaurant and someone took our coffee order. 10 minutes later, she came back and asked us to repeat our order. 5 minutes later, still no coffee, so we just got cups from the lobby and came back to wait for our food. We received our food and then the coffee finally came after the food arrived – a full 20 minutes after we sat down. They also got our omelet order incorrect, putting in a cheese I was allergic to as opposed to the one I ordered. We finally called over the manager, who really didn’t see the issue with any of this and said: “But you got your coffee”. This is definitely not the sort of service we would expect - she did finally do the right thing and comped our meal, but it just shouldn’t have even gotten to that point. Two of us left with only eating toast. The final straw was a charge on our bill for the wrong spa treatment – showing up as 33% more than the spa treatment received. That required a phone call and a 24 hour wait for an answer and credit. Overall, just not the sort of service one would expect at a hotel of this standing.

A three night stay for us. The suite was modern and super nice. The service was very good and the staff attentive and focused on making our stay the best it could be. The outside tub and shower were amazing. A really great experience in our private garden. The only downside is that the hotel is a little noisy. The hotel footprint is fairly small and so everything is close together. As a result, there is a lot of background noise. For example, the staff use gates to navigate between the rooms and you can hear the gates swinging open and shut and on our last morning they started to turbo wash the outside furniture next to our room at 9am with a generator humming away. You couldn't have a conversation outside without shouting.

We had a really fantastic three-night stay at the Bardessono. For my wife's first Napa visit, I thought Yountville was a perfect home base. We also wanted our daughter to have alot of Pool Time at the bookend of a 12-day Roadtrip. The location is perfect and a 3 minute walk to Bouchon Bakery as well as numerous 'top-Napa' restaurants. The pool has a very quiet and relaxed vibe from hungover Tasters. We did our best to have our Toddler Daughter not be a menace to Tranquility - and mostly succeeded. Our most extensive interaction was with the Valet Staff and they were fast and courteous. As long as you keep your expectations reasonable, I think most savvy travelers would really enjoy this Property. We really did.

We moved here after spending three days at the Hotel Yountville. We had decided to extend our stay for three more days but the Hotel Yountville was sold out so the only place we could find a room was here. At $925 a night for a Spa Suite it was rather pricey so I was excited to see what we would get as this was close to double the amount for our Deluxe Room at the Hotel Yountville which I loved. This place is clearly designed for the young tech crowd. The rooms are VERY spartan and not at all comfortable, warm, or welcoming. The front desk staff escorts you to your room AFTER they give you a long and drawn out tour of the grounds which focuses on telling you about all of the artwork on the property which is all available for sale (I came to sleep here and see Yountville -- not buy artwork). Didn't appreciate the sales pitch. The rooms clearly were designed by a guy who has dreams about the latest tech because the focus is a huge flat screen TV and automatic shades on the outside of all of the windows. Honestly, who cares? What I cared about was a more comfortable room and that was not available. Hardly any furniture and what is there is barely usable. Nightstands have no drawers, a very tiny desk, the sofa in the room has one little pillow and no throws like in the photos. The mattress in room 213 was warped and needs replacing. The lighting system in the bathroom is difficult to work out and not quick and easy to just throw a light switch when you want to go in the middle of the night. There is no place for a woman to shave her legs in the shower. On the plus side the view was nice (although they were doing construction at the community center next door so the beeps and blips of the forklift trucks were annoying and constant all 3 days we were there). Seeing the hot air balloons take off from across the street on Saturday morning was magical. We had to call and request housekeeping on our second day as we were out all morning, came back at 2 p.m. and the room was still not serviced -- even when we had our housekeeping light on. They give you complimentary water which is nice. We dined in Lucy Restaurant twice for breakfast and I have to say that I was annoyed as most people were stocking up on the freebie coffee and Bouchon pastries in the adjacent lounge for breakfast (and I mean piling 5 or 6 pastries into the little boxes). We paid to have eggs and when I asked for a croissant they proceeded to charge me $6 for a full bakery basket when there were those croissants and muffins for free literally steps away. I thought that was not cool. The next morning I wised up and stopped and got myself a croissant which I brought into the dining room as if I'm paying $18 for eggs, the least you can do is give me a free croissant. Overall I think the rooms are just not that comfortable and warm and inviting. For the price it's just not worth the money. I think the Hotel Yountville offers a much better deal and the rooms are much warmer and welcoming. They also force you to valet park for free and are also pushing their Lexus loaner program. Since I drive a Mercedes, I could really care less about a Lexus and everything along Washington Street is so easy to walk to you don't need a loaner car. I think everyone here tries too much to be accommodating and what they perceive to be luxury hospitality, but coming from someone who works in the five-star hotel industry, it comes off as fake and not genuine.
