This may be one of the most beautifully designed hotels ever. From the lobby entrance and walkout to the pool to the wonderful dock/pier over the water this place is stunning. The rooms are large and equally attractive with all amenities. Service around the grounds excellent. We also liked the fact that there were very few people around the weekend we stayed which made it feel even more special. There are 2 main restaurants - one in the lobby area and the other out on the pier. The latter serves seafood and while looking more basic is the better of the 2 restaurants. The lobby restaurant struggled on the mains - although they earn points for presentation and effort...also with breakfast. the yogurt, fresh fruits and fresh juices are amazing. The breakfast mains need work. House keeping gave us no water on day 2 as the bottles we had bought were in the room - I guess they figured we had enough. No bed turn down/mosquito net set up the 2nd night either.... but these are minor points for what is otherwise a truly lovely place to stay. Be advised there is no real beach to use but the pool more than compensates. As well, the property is located on the far north of the island which means over an hour to Stone Town. Highly recommended!

We stayed for two nights recently and must say had a great time.Even being a vegetarian we did get a good spread and the facilities are really nice. They have the biggest kids club that I have seen so far and both Mariam and Naima are very good with the kids.swimming pool is big and kind of infinity with a beautiful jetty.Staff are very helpful and welcoming. They do not have a beach but made it up for it by taking us to a nearby beach which was lively and lovely .If you are planning to go do buy a kite it will be fun to fly it at the resort. We also used the spa it was abit expensive but service was good.

The room was lovely. The grounds are lovely. The pool is lovely. The food is good ONCE you get it but 2-2.5 hours wait for it is unacceptable (and the hotel was not very busy as this is the shoulder season). I would have got up and left except that I was with a group.

We have had a fabulous time here spending 3 nights coming to a total rest. The staff was very accommodating and friendly! The food was exceptional, especially compared to other similar star resort we stayed in in Zanzibar. There is no beach as such, yet with the jetty, the views and the stunning pool it's not something we missed! The vegation in the resort has grown from earlier photos and is beautiful. Would definitely come back!

Attention to detail right from the start!!! From the suite to the view to the food photos does not do this resort justice!! Zalu has hit the nail on the head when it comes to a private resort, as they do their best to personalize the experience. If you want the chef to cook up something special he will do it.. the barman to make a cocktail that is not on the menu he/she will be more then happy to help. The hotel supplies bikes to explore the nearby facility or a taxi ready at your disposal in minutes. Turtle sanctuary worth a visit as is a walk through the local markets. Local bars and restaurants close by, ask the staff as they know the best places. The tours are very fairly priced! The room is very well equipped with free WiFi available throughout the resort modern aircon units, big showers, satellite tv and 24 hour room service!! Can't thank the staff at zalu enough!!
