We stayed for a week here with two ocean view villas which were superb . They had nice bathrooms with plenty of natural light and even an additional outside shower . We had a sitting room and verandah too with a private pool . Service to the villa was excellent and it's easy to get a buggy or to get things delivered . Sometimes we ate at the themed buffets and these were always of an extremely high standard . Nevertheless buffets can get a bit boring and we soon discovered there is a set menu alternative each night if you want a change in a different setting . I would however recommend the buffets on the beach with beach bonfires and a band . These are really special . The breakfasts were lovely with good service and plenty of local specialities as well as usual staples . The staff set this place apart as they are very willing and very friendly . We met a lovely female manageress who was a credit to the hotel and Bruce the Financial director was friendly and involved . Recommend a trip to Prisoner Island and to the spice farms . Stone Town is a must too . The only bad thing is the terrible bumpy road on the way there ! I'd give the dolphin safari a miss as we didn't see any. Lovely to walk on the beach or to have a sundowner on the end of the pier . There is a library with ping pong and pool too if it rains .

If you have stayed in luxury resorts before then most of what the Residence has to offer will be familiar. Fantastic views, stunning location, great beach etc. However what really makes this place stand out is the staff. Nothing is too much trouble and everything is done with a genuine smile. Staff of this quality are rare for such a resort where staff can be a little cold. This was our second time to Zanzibar and the people are friendly by nature. The Residence has used this to its advantage and has not trained the life and soul out of its people. You will have a great room (we had an Ocean View Villa which was stunning) excellent food, sometimes served on the beach, wonderful weather and a choice of clean white beach of beautiful infinity pool. And above all you will spend each day smiling and feeling as if you are staying with friends. We will go back without doubt.

This hotel has it all. Beautiful beach and an inviting glass fronted swimming pool. The rooms are tastefully decorated with their own plunge pool. The property has a pier that extends out into the bay. You can experience a Champaign sailing boat sunset cruise or enjoy a cocktail at the poolside bar. Best to use a bicycle to easy explore the resort. Sense of arrival and privacy a great plus whilst enjoying the facility. I will be back again!

Arrived in Zanzibar flying Qatar airways - very good airline - did not need to show yellow fever cert as we had flown direct from LHR - any stop over of longer than 12 hours in a country that does have YF then you must have the certificate. Bit steep to have to pay $50 each on arrival. Make sure you have a pen handy for the endless forms you have to complete on arrival. Would have been better if airline had given these out on the plane. So arrived at hotel later on the Saturday evening. Each and everyone of the staff at this hotel gives first class customer service. The rooms are amazing. Best room I've ever had and we've been to a lot of hotels in the world. The food is outstanding, The lunch time menu covers just about everything you could wish for . Cutlery shines like a new pin and everything is so clean. You are given every opportunity to voice any dissatisfaction as the staff are concerned that guests are happy. On our last day, we were relaxing by the pool, only to be told our flight had been bought forward. We had a mad panic to leave but the hotel took over and contacted our transfer company for us and arranged for them to come early. Without their help we would have missed our flight. We would absolutely recommend this hotel and can't thank the staff enough for making our stay in Zanzibar a wonderful one.

Enjoyed the food and beverage a lot!!! Will visit again whenever I get the chance. The behavior of staff was very nice. Guests are taken care of properly. The overall experience was great but the service of food and beverages stood out. It was very good.
