The perfect Zermatt visit! Classic Swiss Luxury with personalized service and the best location!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

We absolutely loved our stay at the Grand Hotel Zermatterhof. Our suite was beautiful, with the most incredible Matterhorn views, and the location right in the heart of the village made everything so easy and enjoyable. One of our favorite little memories was being able to look out our window or step onto the terrace and watch the goats come through the village each morning and afternoon. It was such a fun and uniquely Zermatt experience. Breakfast each morning quickly became another favorite part of our stay. The live piano music, fresh orange juice and beautiful selection of food made it feel so special and was such a lovely way to begin each day. The service throughout the hotel was wonderful and exactly what you hope for from a classic, historic luxury property—warm, attentive and thoughtful in every detail. We were especially appreciative of Iolanda, who took such wonderful care of us each morning at breakfast. She always greeted us with a warm smile, remembered our preferences after the very first day, and had that rare ability to be incredibly attentive while never feeling intrusive. She genuinely made us feel so well cared for and added something special to our stay. We left with such fond memories of the Zermatterhof and would be very happy to return.

Luxury in the perfect location

Luxury in the Perfect Location We had a fantastic stay at the Grand Hotel Zermatterhof. From the moment we arrived, it felt like a very polished, luxurious hotel that knows exactly how to look after its guests. We were collected from the train station by smartly dressed staff in one of the hotel's little electric buggies—which is a lovely touch, especially as only electric vehicles and bikes are allowed in Zermatt. It immediately added to the unique atmosphere of the town. We stayed in a first-floor corner suite with a huge private terrace, and that was undoubtedly the highlight of the room. Sitting outside with a morning coffee while looking directly towards the Matterhorn was an unforgettable experience. The views are simply breathtaking. The hotel itself is beautifully designed throughout, with elegant interiors that feel luxurious yet welcoming. The location couldn't be better—right at the top of the main street by the church, making it easy to explore the town while still enjoying those incredible mountain views. A special mention has to go to the spa. It is honestly one of the best hotel spas I've ever visited. It feels incredibly modern, immaculate, and has everything you could possibly want to relax after a day exploring the mountains. Breakfast was another highlight. There was an excellent selection of food, the quality was superb, and the service from the breakfast team was warm and attentive. Throughout our stay, every member of staff—from reception onwards—was friendly, professional and genuinely welcoming. If I had one criticism, it would be the size of the suite. We booked a corner suite, and although it included a living area, dining table and the fantastic terrace, the bedroom and bathroom were smaller than I expected for a suite at this price point. That said, I suspect you're really paying for the unbeatable location and the spectacular terrace views, and in that respect it absolutely delivers. If you're visiting Zermatt, I'd also highly recommend taking the cable car as high as possible for the incredible Matterhorn views. It's an experience not to be missed. One final tip: we ate at a small restaurant in town and unfortunately ended up with an upset stomach. This had absolutely nothing to do with the hotel, but if I were to visit again, I'd happily stick to the hotel's own restaurants. We had originally planned to, but they were between lunch and dinner service, so we went elsewhere instead. Given the quality of everything else at the hotel, I'd recommend dining there whenever you can. Overall, this is a truly wonderful hotel in an unbeatable location, with exceptional service, a world-class spa, and views that are hard to match. We'd happily return. BTW, my picture does not do the view any justice at all!

The place to stay in Zermatt

Zermatt is a lovely experience once you get there. It's not ideal the fact that you can only access by train. But, if you're planning to go there, there is nothing better than the Grand Hotel Zermatterhof. We stayed there for 1 week and went skiing daily. They offer ski valet and transportation to and from the train station. They have a lovely open air cafe and bar, which is the best in town

Superb food. Worth it!

We ate outside and had the Brasserie menu. This place isn’t cheap but it is quality. Worth every penny in my view. Engaged and attentive staff. Superb food (the fillet Rossini was delicious). Very good wine list by the glass. On a sunny evening, a table on the patio was just lovely.
