My stay at the Thompson in Zihuatanejo It was very especial occasion, it was our wedding anniversary and the whole experience was just amazing. The facilities, the beach and the staff were incredible too us.

The Thompson, though very pricey, is a great splurge if it's in the budget. The rooms are lovely--many different standards--some bigger than others though they are all quite nice. The website does not do a good job of descripbing them. My favorite was the swim up suite--try to get ones like 5, 6 or 7 for best beach views. Beach suite 8 was amazing--huge room, plunge pool, steps from the sand. Housekeeping does a great job, drinks at Hao are strong and the bartenders are very friendly, the main pool by Hao is the perfect place to while away an afternoon. My only complaint is Ceniza. We ate there for the first time--a birthday dinner for four couples--and it was lousy. Don't bother, and just head down the beach to La Perla or La Gaviota, or splurge at Mar 7 Cielo at Casa Que Canta. I wish they'd step up their food game as the setting is sensational. The hotel faces west and the sunsets are so beautiful. I will definitely go back--it's so peaceful.

All the reviews are glowing and not without reason. This is a fantastic property that is clean and well maintained. Staff is attentive but not overly trying to sell you at every turn. We ate most of our meals at the resort and everything was fresh and excellent. There were a few familys with small children, a bridal party, and one or two groups, but the vibe is 30s to 60s couples. There's no late night clubs, this isn't Cancun and that's what we were looking for. I gave it low marks for value because it's not a value property, and it's not trying to be. You're going to pay a premium compared to other locations but if you are able to swing it... worth it.

Just wrapped up my second stay at Thompson Hotel in Zihuantenejo. Can't decide which I like more, the beautifully designed and maintained resort, or the incredibly friendly, personable staff. Glad I don't have to choose! I think the thing that makes this place special is that many of the servers have worked at the hotel for more than 10 years and clearly love their jobs! I hadn't been to the hotel in a year, but the staff remembered me and picked up right where we left off. I'll definitely be back!

I recently stayed at the hotel with a large group of friends. We all had the best time! Everything was fantastic, the rooms, the food, the staff. We spent all day on the beach with Ediberto looking after our every need. He really made the trip so special for us! I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a relaxing beach vacation, whether with a group of friends, family or partner. The hotel really accommodates it all.
