Despite the name the place is no secret. The food is reasonably priced Thai fare and the setting is as wonderful as the flavor. Fish is fresh, generally fried. Curries and noodle dishes lean toward the milder foreign tongue unless you ask for more heat. A bright café offers air-conditioning but the preferred seats are likely the ones in the garden courtyard behind it. Set out beneath a massive old tree with strings of lights dangling from its branches, this casual but classy eatery makes a nice romantic setting. A nice bakery is also on site making this a good coffee break, and off street parking is a nice plus in such a busy neighborhood. Check out the Earl Grey cake!

Khun Churn is Khun , a restaurateur with a passion for healthy food. She got her start in a small kitchen in Chiang Mai in the early 90s, and opened this third location in the basement floor of the Bangkok Mediplex Building. You will not find another menu in Bangkok so filled with organic and macrobiotic veggie options. Most dishes are traditional Thai recipes with creative substitutions. Tom Yum Mushroom, fresh spring rolls, a lovely pomelo salad. For example, order Laab and Nam Tok dishes with mushrooms replacing the pork or some soy-based "chicken" recipes. Everything is fresh and the herbal and fruit juice blends are fantastic. From the Ekamai BTS Skytrain station take the pedestrian bridge into the Mediplex and go two floors down into the lowest level; Khun Churn is on the right at the bottom of the staircase.

Not to to be missed regardless whether you are vegetarian or not, the best part is that in order to eat at Nan Lian vegetarian restaurant, you'll find a gem in the middle of the city. Tour this delightful 35,000 sq m Tang Dynasty style garden. You will find an atmosphere conducive to serenity and tranquility; an ambience in which you can enjoy moments of leisure and peace of mind. There is also the Pine Tea house right adjacent to Chi Lin Vegetarian. The Cantonese cuisine is delicious and you won't even notice that there is no meat. No fake meat like vegetarian roast goose or char siu, just vegetarian food in its natural simplicity.

The kitchen team of Chi Lin Vegetarian designs the menu using seasonal produce. The five fortune appetizer platter features good sized appetizers. For the mains, the miniature sized braised supreme assorted vegetables casserole is nowhere near as miniature as it makes out. An original portion is big enough to feed 12 people, and so a "miniature" easily feeds between two and three. Both dim sum and a la carte dishes are served during the day.

One great achievement of Shunde cuisine is that its fame is largely based on the exceptional quality of its home style dishes. Seemingly rough and basic stir-fries and small dishes make up a vast majority of Tsui Hang Village menu. The signature culinary offering from deep fried Daliang style "chicken rolls" to golden brown deep fried fish beancurd. Homey dishes made with simple, cheap ingredients stuffed with freshly pounded mud carp paste are an especailly common feature on Shunde menus.

Paying homage to the famed cuisine of this Canton region, Miramar Group's Cantonese restaurant, Tsui Hang Village, have launched their third annual Shunde-themed a la carte and set menu, available through the month of June. While Chencun fen - steamed rice sheets prized for their wafer thinness and chewy texture, are usually regarded as a humble, simple ingredient, chefs here and his team give the dish a luxury edge by stir frying the noodles with fresh plump shrimp.

To end off the meal. Tsui Hang Village is offering the region's trademark sweetened milk pudding, a creamy, custardy concoction which uses ginger to coagulate liquid milk. And to add a touch of indulgence, the kitchen team tops the milk pudding off with a generous dollop of bird's nest.
