The hotel employees were quite nice and quick to assist with any changes or questions we had. We had a first floor room, which was very convenient, however, the music from the lounge could be heard quite clearly at 11:00 pm. On the other hand, I could not hear the snoring coming from our adjoining room once I shut the door, so the walls seem solid! I am a light sleeper, so that was a bonus for me (as was expecting to hear trains, but not hearing a peep)! Overall, the room was a bit beat up, and the carpet stained, so our first impression was dismay over the $400+ we paid for our family to stay here.

The hotel is old, The carpet in our room (22) should have been replaced 5 years ago. For some reason they did not install enough thermostats in the rooms, so if you wanted the room cooler or hotter you need to call the front desk...weird. The bathroom is very good for a youth hostel but not for a place that charges $280 a night. The staff behaves as if you are in the Four Seasons but got nothing to show for. Never come back to this place.

Love old hotels that are kept in good condition, and this is a super example. It has classic charm that shines in the ritzy town of Bernardsville. When my mom took me shopping at the A &P in the 1940's we used to walk past the Inn, and now I have gotten to spend a night inside, too. NEAT THINGS TO KNOW: a statute of Millicent Fenniwick, former US representative from the area, gazes at the Inn from a small park across the street. Fenniwick is the model of the Doonsbury comic strip character Lucy Davenport. You may see the Trump girls dining at the Inn, as they have made reservations in the past - Trump's Bedminister golf course is about 4 miles west of the Inn. USEFUL BITS: The hotel has a free parking lot for guests across the side street that runs along the west (left) side of the building. Coffee is put out in the lobby at 5:30am. Tables for dining can be had on the elevated plaza on the outside front of the structure as well as in a small bay window area that overlooks the town below. LOVE THE FOOD: Our favorites were the kale salad with fruit and the breakfast avocado toast. SOME MAY HAVE RESERVATIONS: Three stories with no elevator may be a challenge, and my wife thought the mattress to be hard (I didn't even notice). Electric commuter trains serve the RR station across the street and their horns make a train sound that you may dislike if you are sensitive to noise. Reservations? this place has only 20 rooms so it sells out quickly so advance reservations are usually a must.

We booked the Sunday Indulgence Promotion and had dinner and breakfast at the hotel. Check in was easy and they allowed us to check in an hour early, We were surprised when chocolate dipped strawberries and chocolate candy were delivered to our room followed by fruit and chocolate chip cookies. Dinner was delicious in the dining room . We both ordered the scallops served with lemon risotto. The dining room does a great job with lobster bisque and salads and delicious breads. Breakfast was equally outstanding Our room was decorated with wall paper and toile in subtle yellow beiges, The bathroom was clean and updated with a walk-in shower and marble. I would enjoy staying here again

From the man at the front door to the housekeeping staff who brought me ice the service was exceptional all around!! The room was spotless & there was water, a plum & chocolate chip cookies (the best I've ever had) which welcomed me when I arrived. The people at the front desk were warm & inviting whenever I passed their desk. I really can't say enough about my experience from check-in to check-out everyone I encountered was amazing.
