Cottage Grove Inn in Calistoga, Napa County, California

Cozy cottages with peaked roofs and pastel-colored shutters are a welcome sight after a day of wine tasting. Each cottage at Cottage Grove Inn is uniquely outfitted – sink into an overstuffed chair in front of a wood-burning fireplace on hardwood floors made from salvaged old-growth fir from an old whiskey distillery or into a wicker rocker outside, enjoying a Napa cabernet. The nearby town Calistoga – with its two-lane roads and ban on fast food restaurants – offers an equally quaint take on life.

Dig into a hearty breakfast by the fireplace in the breakfast nook. Borrow a bike for a day of riding along idyllic terrain, stopping at wineries en route. Have a glass of syrah at one of the area’s family-owned hidden jewels. Picnic in the vineyard. Nap. Unwind with one of the day's purchases in your cottage whirlpool.

Small property of individual cottages. Very well maintained. Rockers on the front porch. Woodburning fireplaces. Out of date deep soaking tubs. Great beds. Armoire setup with coffee for sitting around in the chilly mornings around the fireplace in your robe. Breakfast is good. Fresh eggs, waffles, smoothies, latte/cappucino. Fresh pastry would be so much better than the frozen options available. Wine and cheese is better than it was. Nice selection of some local Not well known wines. Cheese etc. is way too limited. Nice inside dining area and outside patio as well. All in all a charming stay.

Stayed here on a weekend trip for a tasting at the Castello. Cottages with fireplaces and deep Spa tubs. Staff was friendly and responsive and for the most part invisible. The Breakfast was very nice and the waffle was delicious. We used the bikes for a bike tour of local wineries and found them in good repair with a variety to fit most anyone. Would definitely return.

What a pleasure it was to stay at the Cottage Grove Inn! The cottages are immaculately clean and comfortably furnished. We had a lovely porch with wicker rocking chairs, perfect for sipping wine into the evening. The breakfast selections were varied, the evening wine tasting provided a nice selection of local wines, and the staff was quick to respond to any request. Calistoga is at the north end of the Napa Valley so it is a big removed from the larger crowds at Napa and St. Helena, but the town of Calistoga is charming and fun to explore. There are wonderful wineries, as well as hiking and biking spots, very close by. I highly recommend Cottage Grove Inn.

We stayed here for my birthday last fall and it was spectacular as always. So serene, peaceful, friendly atmosphere at Cottage Grove. They serve a wonderful breakfast and coffee, accommodations are always clean and welcoming. Location is within walking distance of great food and biking distance to fabulous wineries. We did the Calistoga mud bath experience this time with some friends and it was the BEST experience ever. All time memories made here.

My husband and I stayed at Cottage Grove Inn for several days, along with our guests from the UK, and found it to be our FAVORITE accommodation of all time!!! Tucked inside a beautiful grove of trees and flowering plants are the little cottages, beautifully appointed and with every possible amenity!! Private, quiet, and with attention to every detail, Cottage Grove Inn is the perfect destination if you're searching for not-another-hotel! The cheerful and friendly front desk staff welcomed us with our keys and an invitation to enjoy the wine/cheese reception, available just as we arrived. We found our cottages to be meticulously clean, extremely comfortable and inviting in every way! The breakfast was perfect, as was the staff who kept all items stocked for us. Without question, we cannot offer even the smallest complaint about this LOVELY place, except perhaps that we wished we'd booked another night or two!!! We WILL return for another visit and highly recommend Cottage Grove Inn for a truly memorable stay in Wine Country!!! Oh, and as a side note, we loved the fact that it is a very short walk into charming downtown Calistoga for a nice dinner (Brannans' is fabulous)!
