Cottage Grove Inn in Calistoga, Napa County, California

Cozy cottages with peaked roofs and pastel-colored shutters are a welcome sight after a day of wine tasting. Each cottage at Cottage Grove Inn is uniquely outfitted – sink into an overstuffed chair in front of a wood-burning fireplace on hardwood floors made from salvaged old-growth fir from an old whiskey distillery or into a wicker rocker outside, enjoying a Napa cabernet. The nearby town Calistoga – with its two-lane roads and ban on fast food restaurants – offers an equally quaint take on life.

Dig into a hearty breakfast by the fireplace in the breakfast nook. Borrow a bike for a day of riding along idyllic terrain, stopping at wineries en route. Have a glass of syrah at one of the area’s family-owned hidden jewels. Picnic in the vineyard. Nap. Unwind with one of the day's purchases in your cottage whirlpool.

We really enjoyed our stay at Cottage Grove Inn. It has simple but pretty rooms that have the essentials: Lovely Bedroom with fireplace, Soaking tub with Jets with bathroom. The property is decorated lovely. Breakfast included. The rooms are close to the road, but at the end of Callistoga, the traffic was not noticable in late Jan. We will be back.

We love this place. It is in the middle of town, but seems secluded. Go and enjoy. Take advantage of the spa treatments. Cottage Grove Inn provides a 10 per cent discount on. A couple of places we enjoyed.

Calistoga is at the northern end of the traditional Napa wine trail. It is not as lavish and pretentious as say Yountville, but more quaint and friendly. We wanted a MLK weekend trip close to Silicon Valley yet far enough away for a healthy mental getaway. I researched TripAdvisor for a locality that was romantic, secluded, luxurious, and offbeat. Cottage Grove Inn fit the bill perfectly. Don't set your expectations for a super elegant location near a river or forest. The set of 14 or so cottages are just off the main street, but nevertheless quiet and separate. Easy to walk to the wonderful downtown with boutique stores and really good restaurants. Breakfast and wine/cheese offered daily just steps away from your cottage. Highly recommended for a B&B type place not crowded and where you can meet people if you want or be totally by yourself if you don't.

This was a delightful spot for a wedding (not ours!) weekend. The wedding was a few blocks away, and people were staying at various hotels and other places throughout Calistoga. We were very pleased with our selection (and there were some envious looks from people staying elsewhere). Price-wise, nothing is cheap in Calistoga, but this place was well worth the cost. The solitude is glorious. Depending on which cottage, you may get a substantial front patio area--we spent a lot of time on ours, lounging and drinking wine and reading. The inside is spacious, not that we spent much time in there. Everything is within a couple of blocks walking distance. The weather was fantastic. The service was excellent. Definitely a go-again.

Our second time here, a super friendly, cozy and romantic place to stay. Very close to town. Very welcoming to our dog. The decor in the cottages is very welcoming, great in-room jacuzzi. We'll definitely be back!
