My wife and I celebrated our 20-year anniversary by staying at the Inn by the Sea. We were greeted with a smile by Alex at the front desk. He gave us a map of the area and suggested many places to visit during our stay. He then grabbed our bags and walked us to our room. Once inside, we saw that the staff had a gift of wine and some food for our anniversary! The suite was incredible. It was 2-stories and included a kitchenette, living room with a balcony that overlooked the Atlantic Ocean and pool, bedroom loft with a king size bed and a master bathroom complete with a Jacuzzi tub, stand-up shower with stone walls, 2 sinks with a long countertop in between and heated floors! The hotel offered guests the ability to make S'mores outside by the pool both nights of our stay. We were able to walk to the beach and enjoy the view. Just a fantastic stay!

Fantastic Inn. You can walk down to a relatively secluded beach. Beautiful sand and shells. Staff is more than accommodating and pleasant. Bed was super comfy. Rooms and bathrooms exceptionally clean. I will be sure to go back and stay again.

My husband and I wanted a little weekend getaway to somewhere scenic and chilly (we live in Florida) and got this recommendation from a friend. Everything was fabulous, but the customer service really set this place apart. It blew every high-end big box hotel I've stayed at (Ritz, J.W. Marriott, etc.) out of the water with customer service. We flew into Portland's regional airport, got a rental car and took the short 20 minute drive to the Inn. We were greeted with a smile and a glass of champagne by Anne and one of the rescue dogs on property that they foster and socialize on a rotating basis. We sat down and spoke to Anne about our hopes for a layer back weekend with good food, craft beer, relaxing and a little site-seeing. With a few questions she quickly honed in on her suggestions that would fit our criteria. She filled us in on activities dinner option for that evening (we arrive at 3:30pm). The fire pit out back overlooking the water would be lit at 5pm with s'mores at the ready. There was fresh hot chocolate in the bar area and we were welcome to stay at the Inn for dinner or explore the town. We were escorted to our room by a nice young man. The bathroom was very nice with a large shower for my tall husband and double sink/vanity. Our entry way had a table with glasses and a wine opener. The room was very well appointed with a great view of the water. King sized bed with nice pillows. A fireplace was a requirement for us and we had it on (with the flip of a switch) whenever we were in the room. There were local magazines and a nice chair and ottoman as well as a cuisinart coffee maker (full sized) and local coffee grounds and a mini fridge. The room was great. For dinner that night we kept it casual and had a drink and appetizers at Bull Freeney's (Irish pub) followed by (amazing) lobster stew and clam chowder at Gilbert's Chowder house. Ok, back to the customer service. There is a beautiful spa downstairs with locker room and steam rooms, fitness equipment and and 'experience showers' with multiple shower heads. The fitness room opens and 7am and the spa and complimentary steam rooms at 9:00. My husband mentioned that he likes to workout and use the steam room early and wouldn't you know it, Anne had the steam room hot and ready 2 hours early for his convenience. Our room was always clean and turn down service included fresh cookies. Anne was integral in planning our days. We wanted to get out there and see the town but also wanted some downtime. We had heard about a popular donut shop called Holy Donut. Would you know, Anne sent a menu to the room for the next day because she you are there it can be overwhelming. After looking at all the local brewery tours, Anne found one that fit us. The Maine Brew Bus. This was a 5 hour tour of 4 local breweries and well as lunch. It was fantastic! For that evening, she made a reservation for us at Street & Co.- the diavolo was amazing! With some shopping after the brew bus and before dinner, it really was the perfect day. The next day we found a small bakery for breakfast, explored the old port town a little more and had a late lunch at Duck Fat (relish!). That evening we went back to the Inn, walked outside a bit with fresh hot chocolate, and had a drink in the lobby while we waited for pizza we ordered to spend the night in (fabulous pizza from Otto's- another Anne suggestion) watching movies in bed with the fire going. We flew out at lunchtime Monday, but not without another stop at Holy Donut :) The whole trip was fabulous- we can't wait to go back!

We tend to visit off season for a quick get away. We enjoy the spacious rooms and the microwave, mini frig and coffee maker gives us nice flexibility. The views are wonderful and we enjoy being able to go for a nice walk right from the door of our room. We bring a dog and she loves it too. Especially the afternoon treats.

walking the beach, soaking tub with yummy smelling soaps, tasty locally sourced coffee, blankets and hot chocolate at sunset, watching white caps on a windy day, BEST OF ALL the staff and service, dinner was divine at Seaglass. Great getaway when we needed it, and we only had to drive 30 minutes to get there. Also loved Paisley, the sweet foster dog from Virginia. Elegant yet not stuffy. Kind and warm people.
