Up in the far reaches of New England is an inn that embraces an understated elegance in the breathtaking state of Maine. Inn by the Sea – part of the LVX collection of Preferred Hotels & Resorts – has emerged as one of Maine's premier luxury seaside retreats, and has been granted the prestigious AAA Four-Diamond Award. With just 57 rooms, suites and classic cottages, guests are guaranteed attentive service and an experience that promises to exceed expectations. Located in Cape Elizabeth, less than 10 miles from Portland, the inn has managed to redefine coastal luxury with its sophisticated palette of deep red, cognac and charcoal hues, coupled with maple furnishings and local artwork that graces public and private spaces. A private boardwalk leads onto the soothing shores of Crescent Beach, crossing through a sweeping wildlife sanctuary along the way.

Classic New England fare is served at Sea Glass, the exceptional all-day dining restaurant. You will discover not only fresh local ingredients and seafood selections pulled from local waters, but you will also savor the spectacular ocean views from inside the dining room or on the al-fresco deck. The inn also offers some two-bedroom cottages replete with full kitchens for your gourmet comfort and convenience. The serene spa features a half-dozen treatment rooms, plus separate men's and women's sanctuaries to retreat to before and after you have been pampered by a skilled therapist. Coastal Maine also offers a wealth of windswept recreation, including lobster boat cruises, kayaking, lighthouse tours and even hot-air balloon adventures. After a day of exploring, return to Inn by the Sea and be lulled to sleep by the sound of gently crashing waves.

We had a large quiet room. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The Inn was comfortable and relaxing, and Sea Glass is a great restaurant for any time of day! The hotel is dog friendly and, although we didn't bring our dog, this didn't bother us at all. It was nice to see all the pampered puppies!

Brought my husband for Valentines day along with my dog. It was our first travel experience with our dog. They were all very welcoming and wonderful to us and our pup. The fire outback was a hit for late night hanging out. Can't wait to go back.

We came here for out third anniversary as we were married here 3 years ago on 1/23/15 and have come back for our 1st and 3rd anniversary. Once again, we never left the property after arrival as we enjoyed the bar and grounds so much. The staff was more than hospitable once again and many still remembered us by name from the last times we were there. In fact, without asking, we were upgraded from a garden suite to their newest building 2 bedroom suite which was simply amazing. I have stayed at many places over the years and still nothing compares to the Inn By The Sea. The staff is what makes it what it is and I plan to return every year in January! Thank you once again for a great stay and experience!

On our third trip to the Inn we were lucky to have great weather and a lovely trip. As always, the place is immaculate, service is above & beyond and the space is dog friendly. You can enjoy a drink at the bar with your furry friends and take a walk down the boardwalk to the beach (dogs only allowed in the Fall / Winter). Spend the $ and get the upgraded room with ocean views, small kitchnette and big bathroom. Turndown service, friendly greetings and all the details are taken care of (love that). Meals are expensive and we had a second rough meal from Seaglass (previous stay was another dud but we thought it was a fluke). Tuna starter was less than impressive (and uber small) while our mains of scallops and steak were nice but underwhelming (never mind the super slow service and big price tag). We will 100% go back to the Inn by the Sea for all its other wonderful attributes but we saw a few take out orders arriving at the front door and we might take that route. We love to just tuck ourselves for a 24 "staycation" from Boston. One of these days we'll try the spa. OOHH remember if its nice enough to take a drink out by the fire pit for some smores. Only 15 minute drive into Old Port so easy location, but love its quiet tucked away spot. Thank you to the Inn for always welcoming us and our fur-kid.
