My husband and I travel often- everywhere from St Lucia, Florida, Rome, all over New England and yet we always end up speaking of our accommodations as saying "well, it wasn't the Inn by the Sea". We live in Northern Maine and escape to Inn by the Sea when we need a rest from our jobs, the Inn never disappoints. We can truly say we have never found fault in the service, the accommodations, or the cleanliness. At this point we have stayed in each of the rooms or suites and all are special for their price point. We love the Inn for its amazing views and impeccably well kept grounds , staff that is professional and courteous, for its luxurious and tastefully decorated rooms (and I love their bathrooms!) AND the because the Inn is relatively small compared to other hotels you get more of a personal feel. I've been to the spa and each time get a facial and each time the experience is wonderful- beautiful spa with highly professional staff taking care of you. Yes, dogs are allowed but you wouldn't know they are there. The Inn by the Sea is a true gem for us - an escape we need it!

I have never written a review but this hotel was perfect. We had a 2 bedroom with 1 large bathroom cove suite for our family with 2 adults, 2 teens, 11 yr old and our dog. The decor is classic and comfortable. The kitchen is well appointed. We took several great walks on the beach and grounds. Our room had a great patio with 2 rockers and a couch over looking the ocean and the main yard. Could not have asked for a nicer hotel for our family. We had been in Boston at the Four Seasons and the comfort, location and hospitality here trumped. On one of our nights it was too windy for smores at the fire pit. The hotel sent up all the fixings for our boys to enjoy room side. We can not wait to return next fall.

The Inn By The Sea is a "must stay" establishment. You have every luxury, want and need in a smaller, more personal place than at any big name resort or hotel. My wife and I chose to book here for our honeymoon rather than a tropical resort and let me tell you - one of our best decisions to date. Our suite in the main inn was spacious, luxurious, clean and inviting. We loved the champagne and chocolate covered strawberries that the GM (Mr. Briggs) had sent to our room because we revealed we were on our honeymoon - what a sweet gesture! The staff are 100% professional, timely and approachable. Chef Chadwick created a simple yet gourmet quality seafood dining experience in the quaint Seaglass restaurant. Do yourself a favor and make a trip downstairs to the "Sanctuary" Spa and get any of their offered treatments. Our couples massage was to die for. Location is easy to find, a quick trip up the road to downtown Portland or any of the great southern Maine neighboring towns. We booked in the off season, so we had a GREAT value for our stay but we would book in peak season without hesitation. Our only discrepancy is that we had to return home to go to work!

The resort overlooks the ocean so the views are spectacular. Our suite was spacious and nicely decorated. The entire hotel was clean and looked new. There is a large common grassy area for the dogs. The staff was friendly and helpful. We truly enjoyed our stay.

the location is superb; accommodations superb, facility superb -- what's left to say? proximity to Portland (if you can tear yourself away from the Inn) is the best I have found. I rated the Inn a "10" on all criteria.
