Luxury comes naturally at Inn by the Sea, surrounded by the beauty of coastal Maine. Located on a mile of sandy beach in New England the Inn embraces an understated elegance with traditional coastal shingled architecture, but decidedly modern and stylish interiors. Inn by the Sea - part of the L.V.X collection of Preferred Hotels & Resorts - has emerged as one of Maine's premier luxury seaside retreats and has been granted the prestigious AAA Four-Diamond Award. With just 61 rooms, spacious one- & two-bedroom suites and rooms, guests are guaranteed attentive service, elegant hospitality and an experience that promises to exceed expectations. Located in Cape Elizabeth, just 7 miles from Portland, the inn has managed to redefine coastal luxury with its sophisticated interior design coupled with a permanent collection of art created by renowned regional artists that grace public and private spaces. A private boardwalk leads onto the soothing shores of Crescent Beach, crossing through a sweeping wildlife sanctuary along the way. With such intimate surroundings, you might not expect the full-service amenities offered by larger hotels, but rest assured, Inn by the Sea is both full-service and fabulous.

The sinks and shower were backed up and we requested fix - never did it. MBR bath sliding pocket door was barely sliding. Porch screen door was extremely difficult to pull and stay closed. One window wouldn't open, for fresh air. The hotel management had a photographer that limited 2 days of n pool because of the drone pics and videos being undertaken (for the website?). Beach chairs were not handed out as they were limited, and guest services was not at the the beach when they were expected to be with towels, umbrella and chairs. We made reservations n advance (window view) for breakfast each morning for 8am, but hostess said the 9 o'clock reservation they had in their book conflicted with ours and it was awkward trying to get them to oblige our earlier reservation. The engineering associate was very good, and fixed the Apple TV hardware, on the spot. Inn by the sea hotel has a deferred maintenance problem.

Lovely 3 night experience the week after Labor Day. The staff was so friendly and helpful. We loved the restaurant (breakfasts and dinners), where the food is fresh and delicious. We were able to enjoy walks down to the beach, swimming in the pool, massages at the spa, and exercise in the fitness room. It was an A+ for us, without ever feeling over-the-top.

I booked a garden suite in the main bldg for one night through I Prefer. Then called hotel to confirm that it was in the main building. Told them I am a senior travelling with a medical service dog. Finally 3 1/2 hours after arriving they told me my room was ready. When a novice bellman unloaded my car to take me to the room, it turns out it was at the bottom of a steep flight of stairs. No way could I do those stairs with a bad knee that was apparent. The manager insisted it was the only room available. Finally they found me a room not in main building as I had requested and was promised. I have stayed at this property previously but always enjoyed it. The room they found was not ready for any guest, no Kleenex, the property is dog friendly and promise dog bed and other amenities that were non existent; it smelled horrid; and the worst no working internet. So I spent most of the night working til several hours past mid night in the deserted hotel lobby of the other bldg, so I could work and meet my deadlines. This is totally unacceptable especially at the price they charge per room. And walking back to my room which I didn’t enjoy doing alone in the dark at 3 am, all so I could meet a deadline requiring the internet and computer. The staff seemed like newbies and clueless except for one desk person who was there earlier in the evening and after not being able to get internet on any device in my guest room which was remote and not in main building where I had a dinner meeting first, offered to turn on the lights in the lobby lounge for me so I could work. Fine, but I didn’t need to pay for a room then. I would have rather worked comfortably in my PJ’s, and not having to walk back alone in the dark in the middle of the night.
