Reviews for Bernardus Lodge and Spa
Spent a relaxing weekend getaway at the Bernardus Lodge & Resort this November. The location was phenomenal. It's very scenic with excellent views of the mountains and the facilities themselves are excellent. The rooms are not spacious but very nice. The bathrooms are nice with heated floors. There is a huge tub in the bathroom that can sit several adults. The bed is very relaxing and there was a gas fireplace in our room. All of the staff at the Lodge were super-friendly and went out of their way to be helpful and courteous. The hotel itself is nice itself and the grounds are well maintained. There is large heated pool, tennis courts, bocce ball, and croquet lawn. We used the exercise room and it was well maintained. Each station had a water bottle and a towel. The hotel was a quick 20 minute drive to both Carmel and Monterey. The staff was very helpful in providing directions and recommendations. I would definitely visit here again.

My wife and I were visiting the Carmel area for the first time. We arrived at the Bernardus and thoroughly had a great experience. Everything was wonderful from the attentive staff to the beautiful views and the rose gardens. The room was beautifully furnished with a spectacular balcony overlooking the mountains. The service was especially exceptional. We were greeted by the Bellman who personally checked us in and then took us on a walking tour of the resort. This type of level of detail was provided by all including Concierge, hotel and resteraunt staff. It was one of best resort experiences and look forward to going back..

My wife and I just finished a 5 night stay at Bernardus. They exceeded our expectations in many ways. The room was beautiful. The bed was amazing for comfort. The restaurant food was excellent. We enjoyed the many fire pits throughout the resort during cool evenings. We had no issue with the $30 per night resort fee since there were so many great ‘extras’ made available. We will be back for certain.

My wife and I had been planning a visit to Washington DC this past August, but my work schedule pulled the "Draw Four" card on that plan (sorry for the random UNO reference), so the pressure was on for me to find a suitable "make-up" destination for a very understanding woman. When researching the Carmel area, Bernardus Lodge & Spa appeared to be highly recommended by other travelers. The property was very well kept and had great drive-up appeal. The Valet crew made a great first impression as this was our first visit to Bernardus. Warm and welcoming is how I would describe it. We were offered wine or champagne during check-in and shown to our room. We booked a Santa Lucia King and it NOT disappoint! The bed was exceptionally comfortable, the bathroom was spacious and well equipped with heated floors, jacuzzi tub and separate shower with a rainfall type shower head. The spa facilities were outstanding and my wife and I enjoyed a terrific dinner at the on site restaurant "Lucia". As with most things in life, the people make all the difference. These folks clearly care about hospitality and THAT is one of the best luxuries in my opinion. Well, that and the small fleet of Mercedes-Benzes that are available to guests to drive for four hours at a time.. Nothing wrong with taking in the 17 mile drive in Carmel behind the wheel of an SL.
If you conjure up the best idea of what a resort and spa is in your head, Bernardus Lodge and Spa is the definition. This beautiful property is set amongst a gorgeous landscape snuggled between a beautiful green mountain valley. The onsite walking path includes vineyards and a rose garden that are peaceful and lovely. Everything was provided for your comfort, from bed, bath and all the different spa treatments you can enjoy. But the best was the customer service received by our family group from the moment the valet unpacked our car thru the knowledgeable and friendly front desk to the delightful and accommodating spa staff and professional housekeeping. We are all looking forward to treating ourselves to another visit soon. Highly recommended for relaxation and fun!
