the spa staff was rude when I called two weeks in advance to make appointments . I tried through the front desk another time and they could not put me through to spa?I was going to just see what they had upon early arrival. No appointments! when room was finally ready it was not very clean and smelled so bad of bleach that we had to open front and back doors and sit outside for a couple of hrs. The guest above us was so loud starting at 5 am, that was fun. The restaurant was the best part of the property, great staff and food. If you have to pay full price for the stay I would say take a pass. I have traveled all over Europe and the places that we have stayed put this at the bottom of the list.

Everything was great, except the gym… outdated and severely lacking. Local trails helped with getting those steps in… but, still would expect more from a resort/spa for fitness facilities.

This is such a beautiful property and you feel it from the exact time they open your car door for you. The staff and the food and drinks are excellent. The view from every room is peaceful.

The resort is just a lovely place to be. Rooms are spacious and well appointed. The staff so nice and attentive. Good food, Bernardus wines are top-shelf.

We live in the Bay Area and love escaping for a long weekend to the Bernardus. We've been going to Carmel and Monterey for many years and we have stayed at dozens of places in the area. We tried the Bernardus years ago, and now it's our go-to-spot. We love the infinity-edge hot tub. And while there is really good food in Carmel, the food at Bernardus is so good that we end up eating there most of the time.
