Bernardus Lodge and Spa

You will be treated like a King and Queen. I love this place you won't find a nicer place to stay in Carmel Valley, I know I've stayed there 10 times. It's my favorite. Excellent GM and staff.

We stayed here over the weekend to celebrate our birthdays, and it was truly one of the best experiences we’ve ever had. From the moment we arrived, we were blown away by how immaculate, lush, and absolutely gorgeous the grounds are, it feels like a true escape. What made the experience even more special was the staff. Every single person we encountered made us feel genuinely valued and appreciated. Their attention to detail is exceptional, and it’s clear they truly care about creating a memorable experience for their guests. Somehow, it felt like everyone knew we were celebrating, throughout our stay, we were warmly wished a happy birthday again and again, which made it feel incredibly personal and thoughtful. This place exceeded all expectations, and I would absolutely return without hesitation. Highly, highly recommend for anyone looking for a special, elevated getaway.

Our girls' weekend at Bernardus Lodge was the definition of relaxation. From the moment we arrived, the service was impeccable - a special shoutout to Edgar from the valet team for going above and beyond to assist us throughout our stay. Our room was a sanctuary: spacious enough for the whole group, beautifully appointed, and incredibly peaceful. We also had the pleasure of dining at the restaurant for both dinner and brunch, and every dish was absolutely delicious. We left feeling completely refreshed and are already counting down the days until we can return!

Time flew. We couldn't tear ourselves away and ended up staying an extra day. Decadent splurge for us and we didn't regret it. We felt spoiled and very relaxed.

Second stay, really love the beauty and calmness of the property (though there are plenty of families with kids, and traveling dogs here). Fortunately it's a large campus with lots of outdoor seating areas & beautiful landscaping. Rooms are large and clean, all have been updated and modernized, with private patios. Bathrooms are beautiful, two sinks, separate tub & shower, a water closet with door, and heated floors. Staff is super friendly and helpful. There is a beautiful restaurant, bar, and a casual outdoor dining patio. Only minor critique is that the menus are small, would appreciate a larger variety of food.
