Stay Here if You Visit Charleston

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 7 hours ago

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. If you're looking for a sophisticated charming hotel that is located in the perfect spot to walk to all or any downtown eateries, markets, shops, waterfront, etc., stay here. Everything we felt compelled to do in Charleston was within walking distance save visiting the Lighthouse and a plantation. The room was impeccably clean. We even had a pillow menu from which we could custom choose our pillow. Additionally, they provided a sound machine for guests and a machine that cleaned cell phones. Yeah! Chocolates, water, and ice were provided for us every evening. Breakfast was fabulous! They even provided Happy Hour goodies with wine, crackers, and cheese, and then a Nighttime snack of milk, cookies, and port wine. Chocolates and coffee were always available for the taking. The beds were more than comfortable. Even the blow dryer and make up mirror were a cut above the norm. We can't say enough positive comments about this place. Stay here if you visit Charleston. You won't regret it and will want to return again. It would be so great if every hotel followed their accommodating protocol!

Awesome place to stay

If I could give this hotel 10 stars I would!! Everything from the atmosphere to the cleanliness of the hotel rooms to the friendly staff-it was fabulous!! Went here on a little weekend getaway and it was the perfect location! Walkable to the market, King Street and all the fantastic restaurants in town! Loved wine and cheese hour everyday and milk and cookies served in the lobby at night! Would definitely stay here again!!! Thanks for the great stay!!

Beware of Cancellation Policy & lack of compassion

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

We are disappointed with the French Quarter hotel. My husband had a serious medical condition that unexpectedly prevented us from traveling. We made the call to cancel from emergency room once we were told he could not travel/fly & missed the cancellation deadline by just 2 hours and 12 minutes, and despite explaining our situation, the hotel refused to make an exception and charged us for one night's stay, with the explanation of them mailing a 1 night certificate to be used with in the year, to have certificate in hand to present at time of use. I understand that hotels have cancellation policies, but I had hoped they would show some flexibility given the circumstances. Being just over the deadline because of a genuine medical emergency made this especially frustrating, even more so that we had a total of 6 rooms booked to meet with friends and they still received the business of the other 5 rooms. Customer service is about more than simply enforcing policies—it's also about understanding when exceptional situations arise. Unfortunate for them if we ever choose to visit SC we would never stay at this Hotel for their lack of compassion.

True Southern Hospitality and pure excellence throughout the property

The French Quarter Inn made our annual trip to Charleston even more special than the city itself. The waitstaff is incredibly friendly from Bob at the front desk to Morgan valeting our car everyday, everyone is a pleasure to speak to. People who work at the French Quarter Inn take the hospitality businesses seriously and it shows, As repeat customers of the French Quarter Inn, Carlo the general manager has become an important part of the overall package on why my family enjoys this hotel so much, and I always look forward to his emails he sends me making sure everything is just right for our visit. The hotel is in the perfect location for walking throughout downtown to restaurants, shopping on King St, the City Market, the Battery, Rainbow Row, ghost tours, coffee shops, candy stores, ice cream shops, history and museums, I could go on and on. The location is exceptional. The rooms are clean with fantastic AC, great bathrooms with good water pressure and modern amenities. Actual turn down service and DAILY room cleaning which is a rare quality in todays hotel industry. We will be back yet again to spend more time in The French Quarter Inn in the future! Every night, we made sure to be back by 10 pm to enjoy their freshly baked cookies, These little touches go a long way in offering the total package that makes a boutique hotel feel truly special over mindless airbnbs or large unpersonable hotels. Immaculate bedding that is of HIGH quality ensures a good nights rest. I’ve been to boutique hotels as well as major resort hotels all over the eastern US from Jackman Maine to Fort Lauderdale Florida and the French Quarter Inn stands alone at the top with a sizable lead. Keep up the great work! I’m so happy to call this property our home away from home!

I am a former chef and am now a catering director at a private country club. Being extremely picky and wanting the best possible accommodations and food - we were nothing but happy with French Quarter Inn!

My wife and I stayed at the French Quarter Inn on a Monday and Tuesday evening. As our second visit to Charleston, we wanted to enjoy the Battery area history and restaurants for a couple days. French Quarter Inn was fantastic! The staff really set the stage for a memorable and rejuvenating visit. Charleston really is a unique and wonderful city, and I highly recommend the French Quarter Inn for helping us take a little of Charleston with us.
