French Quarter Inn in Charleston, South Carolina

For over a decade, the French Quarter Inn in historic Charleston, South Carolina has been indulging guests with its regal accommodations, thoughtful amenities, and superb service. A 2014 Condé Nast Traveler Platinum Circle Gold List recipient and a AAA Four-Diamond destination, the inn enjoys an envious central location in the heart of historic Charleston. With its timeless elegance, rooms - both private and public - are appointed in French urban décor coupled with Parisian blue accents and warm wood furnishings. Oversize guest rooms and suites appear even larger with expansive 14-foot ceilings. Behind guest doors are plush sanctuaries with triple-sheeted beds, recently renovated baths, and in some cases, working fireplaces and private balconies. The sound-sleep pillow menu and turndown service ensures a restful slumber.

Amenities seem almost too good to be true with complimentary champagne and lady fingers upon arrival, daily afternoon wine and cheese, fresh-baked cookies and milk in the evening, a gourmet continental breakfast served in your room or in one of the public areas, and 24-hour coffee service. Within walking distance are a number of fabulous restaurants, including the hotel's very own Tristan. With its urbane décor of hardwood floors, a whimsical banquette, and minimal appointments, Tristan offers a decidedly bold American fare menu for brunch, lunch or dinner plus an astounding 400-label wine cellar. Take a stroll along the city's cobblestone streets following your fine meal, enjoy a tour of an antebellum home, share a frothy cappuccino near the waterfront, or prowl through the shops on premises. There are also several enjoyable city tours that paint a fascinating picture of Charleston's centuries-old history.

I am absolutely in love with this hotel. My husband and I stayed here 5 years ago and I always think of this hotel, so when we came back to Charleston we had to stay here again. It not only met the memories I had of it, but exceeded them! The staff makes you feel so welcome and cared for from the champagne at check in, the wine and cheese reception, and milk and cookies at night. I don't ever want to leave! This hotel is the best down to ever last detail! The complimentary bikes were also such a nice convenience. We will definitely be back here sooner rather than later!

I went with a friend and felt pampered the whole time. I learned the meaning of southern hospitality. All the employees were courteous and helpful. Two in particular, Anice and Tre, made our stay better by their attitude, helpfulness and kindness. This hotel is in a perfect location for walking all the places we wanted to go. Thank you for making our trip memorable!

I feel silly writing a review, because it has all been said. Fabulous stay, beautiful property, spacious room, and wonderful staff. If you partake in breakfast and afternoon tea, bring your belt that has an extra notch! ;-) You can pay for luxury 1,000 places and you receive it, but it's really the service and the staff that is important, and they have it in spades here. We'll be back!

After attending a delightful family wedding in Southport, North Carolina, my mom & I gilded the lily with a stay at the French Quarter Inn on our return trip. I must say, in a city where hospitality and charm are abundant, this property is a step above & beyond. First, the circumstances: I had tried to book several days at the property, to no avail. In fact, there were no rooms I could find ANYWHERE! Turns out a little event called the total solar eclipse was happening at the same time. Whoops! I put my name on a waiting list with French Quarter, and it paid off in spades. They did call and advise a room had become available, and it was DEFINITELY worth all the worry and uncertainty. We were greeted upon check-in with a glass of champagne...and it was gooood quality. Off to our room, which was massive in size and beautifully appointed. I had hoped for a room with balcony, but the view from our 3rd-floor room overlooked one of Charleston's famous church steeples, which was spectacular. The bed and linens were sublime. And the bathroom--which is always a sticking point for me, was also oversized and featured great toiletries from Bigelow Apothecaries, which is evidently the oldest apothecary in the U.S. While most properties in Charleston offer breakfast & Happy Hour events, French Quarter's offerings were exceptional. I've never had smoked salmon as good as what I had here. Food and drink were ample, varied and super fresh. You can either dine in the hotel or grab a table outside on the patio to enjoy your meal. And he service was impeccable--little touches like genuinely personable room attendants bringing decadent chocolates to the room in the afternoon along with ice for the ice bucket (without being asked). Another plus: because this property is newer than some of the more historical lodging options in Charleston, the insulation between rooms (and floors) is terrific. Although the Inn was full of guests in Charleston to witness the total eclipse (which was SPECTACULAR), the calm and quiet and lack of ambient noise was appreciated. I've stayed at 5-star properties in London and castles in Ireland, and this stay at French Quarter Inn was on par with those experiences. Hands-down, staying here is a world-class experience.

Welcomed by a friendly bell staff and treated to champagne when checking in, it just keeps getting better at this comforting inn. Our room (junior suite) was spacious and well appointed. After a restful night, we started our morning with an tasteful continental breakfast, including an enticing assortment of pastries, breads, fruit, juices (a mimosa too) and yogurt. After a day in town, we returned to a wonderful wine bar and appetizers to get the evening started. Appetizers included 4 cheeses, meats, pickled vegetables, breads along with 4 wines. When we returned from dinner, we were treated to milk, cookies and a glass of port wine, in case you didn't go over the top in town. When we reached our room, the bed was turned down, the ice bucket filled and chocolates were provided to close the evening. You are not a customer here, you are welcomed and treated as pampered family...... it's just the best!!
