French Quarter Inn in Charleston, South Carolina

For over a decade, the French Quarter Inn in historic Charleston, South Carolina has been indulging guests with its regal accommodations, thoughtful amenities, and superb service. A 2014 Condé Nast Traveler Platinum Circle Gold List recipient and a AAA Four-Diamond destination, the inn enjoys an envious central location in the heart of historic Charleston. With its timeless elegance, rooms - both private and public - are appointed in French urban décor coupled with Parisian blue accents and warm wood furnishings. Oversize guest rooms and suites appear even larger with expansive 14-foot ceilings. Behind guest doors are plush sanctuaries with triple-sheeted beds, recently renovated baths, and in some cases, working fireplaces and private balconies. The sound-sleep pillow menu and turndown service ensures a restful slumber.

Amenities seem almost too good to be true with complimentary champagne and lady fingers upon arrival, daily afternoon wine and cheese, fresh-baked cookies and milk in the evening, a gourmet continental breakfast served in your room or in one of the public areas, and 24-hour coffee service. Within walking distance are a number of fabulous restaurants, including the hotel's very own Tristan. With its urbane décor of hardwood floors, a whimsical banquette, and minimal appointments, Tristan offers a decidedly bold American fare menu for brunch, lunch or dinner plus an astounding 400-label wine cellar. Take a stroll along the city's cobblestone streets following your fine meal, enjoy a tour of an antebellum home, share a frothy cappuccino near the waterfront, or prowl through the shops on premises. There are also several enjoyable city tours that paint a fascinating picture of Charleston's centuries-old history.

Omg is all I need to say. If you have any doubts this is the place to stay. You can't beat the ideal location on Market St. you can walk to a ton of places for food drinks or shopping. The hotel staff was magnificent making you feel very pampered. This is the quietest hotel I have ever stayed in. Love the nightly events wine and cheese and then later cookies milk and port. Champagne on arrival was a nice touch. Love the breakfast. We stayed on the 2nd floor which has a small balcony area at the center for those who want to sit outside or smoke. Turn down service was nice but best of all coffee and tea in the hall upstairs so you don't have to go down and get it. Whenever I come back it will be to this hotel! We paid for the valet parking and they were very prompt retrieving the car. The beds and pillows excellent. I could go on and on.

Our recent stay at the French Quarter Inn was simply the best! The location couldn't be more central for all the sightseeing we did in Charleston and outlying areas. The entire staff from Manager to Front Desk to Housekeeping exuded a warmth and generosity of spirit that was genuine. Also, the concierge and front desk staff were unbelievably helpful with their advice and knowledge about where we should go etc. Rooms were perfect with beautiful furniture and enhanced amenities. They served a continental breakfast that was much more than it sounds...offered items on different days included house baked quiche, smoked salmon, fresh jam, meats. At 5:30, the hotel had wine (four different varieties) with cheese, charcuterie board, nuts, dried fruit and other nibbles. Wonderful cookies were out during the afternoon...and small desserts with port in the later evening! Nothing that would make a guest feel comfortable and happy was overlooked. We've stayed in many small 4-5 star hotels but this one was honestly the most special. I highly recommend the French Quarter Inn!

My sister and I stayed in the French Quarter in for her 40th birthday, which coincided with the eclipse in August. We had a wonderful time - the staff was attentive and made our stay really special. I'd like to mention Stephanie in housekeeping specifically - she is a superstar and deserves recognition. We will be back!

The French Quarter Inn is located in the Heart of Charleston near the Market. The Hotel is within walking distance of the best restaurants and many attractions. This is probably one of the best 5 Star Luxury Hotels we have visited. We especially like the Wine and Cheese Reception and the Cookies at night. The customer service is Superb. In particular, Ms. Jenny Miche at the front desk and Andy the BellHop/Valet service. They know us by name and are excellent.

We're just back from a great stay at French Quarter Inn and missing it already. The rooms, location, amenities and service were all top notch. The rooms are large, very spacious and well-appointed. Linens are clean and comfy. Tons of pillows on the bed, and a pillow menu you can order special pillows from if the standard room pillows won't do. The bathrooms are huge, and well stocked. I was pleasantly surprised to find makeup removal wipes and a black wash cloth for makeup removal as standard items in the bathroom. Free wifi with a strong signal in the room. In terms of location, I'm not sure you can beat the French Quarter Inn. The Charleston City Market is quite literally right out the door from the hotel. It's walking distance to all other attractions we visited -- Rainbow Row, Waterfront Park, King Street shopping and restaurants, the ferry to Ft. Sumter, Dock Street Theater, Aiken-Rhett House, Nathaniel Russell House, several cemeteries and churches, etc., etc. It's also a stone's throw from many of the best restaurants in the city. Despite being so close to everything, the hotel is still removed just enough to be quiet and removed from the bustle, so no sleep disturbance. The hotel offers a lot of little perks that make it even more worthwhile to stay. We were greeted with champagne at check-in, which was nice after a long drive down. There are bikes on property that can be borrowed free of charge. Every morning there is a continental breakfast in the lobby, included in the nightly rate, or you can have it delivered to your room for no additional cost. Coffee was available on our floor until noon every day so we didn't have to go to the lobby to refill. There is a nightly wine and cheese reception, and then nightly milk and cookies in the lobby - both included in the nightly rate. All day there are drinks (water, tea, lemonade) and treats (jelly belly, M&Ms) available in the lobby. At turndown they leave chocolate treats and bottled water. As I write this out, I'm realizing what an impression food and drink must have on us. :-) Service was great. We were immediately greeted by one of the valet guys who helped us unload, took our bags directly to the room and dealt with the car. Check-in was a breeze and we were able to check in an hour early, which was great. All staff were very friendly and helpful. Housekeeping staff were incredibly friendly and got their jobs done without being intrusive - even on days when we left the room late. There's a reason FQI is rated so highly -- it earns the great reviews. We will definitely stay here again in Charleston.
