French Quarter Inn in Charleston, South Carolina

For over a decade, the French Quarter Inn in historic Charleston, South Carolina has been indulging guests with its regal accommodations, thoughtful amenities, and superb service. A 2014 Condé Nast Traveler Platinum Circle Gold List recipient and a AAA Four-Diamond destination, the inn enjoys an envious central location in the heart of historic Charleston. With its timeless elegance, rooms - both private and public - are appointed in French urban décor coupled with Parisian blue accents and warm wood furnishings. Oversize guest rooms and suites appear even larger with expansive 14-foot ceilings. Behind guest doors are plush sanctuaries with triple-sheeted beds, recently renovated baths, and in some cases, working fireplaces and private balconies. The sound-sleep pillow menu and turndown service ensures a restful slumber.

Amenities seem almost too good to be true with complimentary champagne and lady fingers upon arrival, daily afternoon wine and cheese, fresh-baked cookies and milk in the evening, a gourmet continental breakfast served in your room or in one of the public areas, and 24-hour coffee service. Within walking distance are a number of fabulous restaurants, including the hotel's very own Tristan. With its urbane décor of hardwood floors, a whimsical banquette, and minimal appointments, Tristan offers a decidedly bold American fare menu for brunch, lunch or dinner plus an astounding 400-label wine cellar. Take a stroll along the city's cobblestone streets following your fine meal, enjoy a tour of an antebellum home, share a frothy cappuccino near the waterfront, or prowl through the shops on premises. There are also several enjoyable city tours that paint a fascinating picture of Charleston's centuries-old history.

This is a topnotch hotel with topnotch service and amenities. You get from this hotel what you would expect from a top notch hotel, and what you pay for. Your encounter with the valet, bellhop, and front desk are unified and professional. The room was excellent, the bathroom huge, and the extras (robes, iron and ironing board, lighted magnification mirror, etc) were great. Evening cocktails were excellent and included various cheeses, meats, wines, dried fruited, etc. They do not scrimp here. Same can be said about the continental breakfasts. They do an excellent job, have great food, and coffee. They also offer an evening dessert and port options in the lobby as you are coming in for the evening. Very nice. A couple of additional hotel hints. Your GPS / phone will guide you to the Church Street address of the hotel and you will see that the hotel does not appear to be there. The hotel entrance is actually on Linguard Street which intersects Church Street a half a block between Market and Cumberland Street. Also, we stayed on room 202 which was very quiet, with a decent view of the bell tower for St. Philip's, though the lower view is just the restaurant below. This is a great hotel that should be part of your Charleston experience, and more than just a place to store your luggage, and a rack to sleep on!

Stayed as a family of four in a queen junior suite. The room itself is very large and nicely furnished. It had two queen beds and a queen size sofa bed. We added a roll away. While the room is very large, it is basically the same configuration as a regular hotel room with two beds on one side and the TV on the other. The extra space is really just additional space between the beds and TV - which is fine with us and provided space for the roll away. The bathroom was nice, although the drain in the shower was a little slow. What really shines here is the staff, who are all very helpful and friendly making us feel very relaxed and cared for. The breakfast and afternoon wine and cheese were wonderful. It's hard to imagine a better location for touring Charleston.

Being a local couple from Bermuda, we decided we do not want another beach destination for our honeymoon. We chose Charleston and searched the best hotel in the city. We chose French Quarter Inn because of the availability of a balcony. French quarter did not disappoint. It was more than what we expected. The room was tastefully decorated, linens were clean and soft. Continental breakfast was excellent .... afternoon wine and cheese were abounding not to mention thd lady who was hosting it.... she's just so warm and welcoming we had to partake with the afternoon snacks even though we werent planning to.... staff members downstairs at the entrance are cool and helpful... bicycles available to borrow... turndown services were a pleasant surprise. Evrything is near the hotel. We xouldnt have choses a betyer hotel for our first time in Charleston. Definitely recommend.

It was our 30th wedding anniversary trip. Charleston looked like a nice place to go. Trip Advisor gave it great reviews. A little hard to find, but a GREAT place to stay. Staff VERY friendly-very nice room we chose a standard king. Coffee outside room in hallway was a nice treat. Champagne was waiting in our room for anniversary very nice touch and nice surprise for my wife. Staff arranged for a city tour in a air condtioned bus and transportation to and back from Fort Sumpter. Jenny and pals were GREAT!!
