French Quarter Inn in Charleston, South Carolina

For over a decade, the French Quarter Inn in historic Charleston, South Carolina has been indulging guests with its regal accommodations, thoughtful amenities, and superb service. A 2014 Condé Nast Traveler Platinum Circle Gold List recipient and a AAA Four-Diamond destination, the inn enjoys an envious central location in the heart of historic Charleston. With its timeless elegance, rooms - both private and public - are appointed in French urban décor coupled with Parisian blue accents and warm wood furnishings. Oversize guest rooms and suites appear even larger with expansive 14-foot ceilings. Behind guest doors are plush sanctuaries with triple-sheeted beds, recently renovated baths, and in some cases, working fireplaces and private balconies. The sound-sleep pillow menu and turndown service ensures a restful slumber.

Amenities seem almost too good to be true with complimentary champagne and lady fingers upon arrival, daily afternoon wine and cheese, fresh-baked cookies and milk in the evening, a gourmet continental breakfast served in your room or in one of the public areas, and 24-hour coffee service. Within walking distance are a number of fabulous restaurants, including the hotel's very own Tristan. With its urbane décor of hardwood floors, a whimsical banquette, and minimal appointments, Tristan offers a decidedly bold American fare menu for brunch, lunch or dinner plus an astounding 400-label wine cellar. Take a stroll along the city's cobblestone streets following your fine meal, enjoy a tour of an antebellum home, share a frothy cappuccino near the waterfront, or prowl through the shops on premises. There are also several enjoyable city tours that paint a fascinating picture of Charleston's centuries-old history.

Friends had stayed at this Inn a few years ago and recommend it to us for our trip to Charleston. Taking a leap of faith I booked us in for two nights. Upon our arrival we were met with an extremely efficient valet and front desk. Being offered a glass of champagne at check it was a very nice treat. The room included two queen beds, large bath with tub and separate shower and all the towels we could ever use. We could have just stayed in the room the entire time were were there it was so comfortable. It wasn't long after we checked it I decided to stay an additional night. Unfortunately we had to change rooms but that gave us an opportunity to see a different suite - king bed with a nice view over the Central Market. Breakfast included a variety of tasty treats - breads, rolls, fruit, egg quiche items and more. Very enjoyable - and included champagne if you were interested in having a morning glass. Having never been to Charleston prior to this visit, we had a great time. The French Quarter Inn is located in the historic district close to the starting point of walking tours, carriage rides, restaurants and shopping. If the opportunity brings us back to Charleston we will again stay at the French Quarter Inn.

Overall our stay was pretty good. The front desk staff very pleasant. The room was your standard nothing special. The biggest issue upon check in was we were not given our breakaway 50.00 voucher for restaurants .We could have used it when we went to Halls. We were given it too late.We did say something to the front desk. Please do not reply with a we should have said something when we were there response.

It is not often that I'm able to write such a stellar review of a hotel property but this is one of them. My wife and I had the absolute pleasure of staying at this property recently with another couple who are our "chosen family". From the moment we checked in, we were treated like royalty. Champagne at check-in and one of the most friendly staff members ever encountered. Jenny checked us in and spent a considerable amount of time with us reviewing everything from restaurants to activities for us during our stay. She was able to make reservations at restaurants that we could not. Her southern hospitality made us feel like we were in somebody's home. The hotel itself is small, beautifully appointed, meticulously maintained, and made to feel like you're staying in a very large home. It never seemed crowded, was always very relaxing and many times with classical music being piped over speakers. The continental breakfast in the morning was like none other I have experienced. Wine and cheese everyday at 5:30 p.m. with the most delightful ladies pouring the wine. All of the staff from the front desk, to the housekeeping staff, to the bell boys on the ground floor were all incredibly pleasant, accommodating, and very helpful with any of our needs. Rooms were very nicely appointed. The beds were extremely comfortable and the pillow menu gave you wonderful options. Turndown service with chocolates was a lovely touch. Overall, this hotel was exceptional on every level and it made our stay in Charleston that much more enjoyable.

My wife and I decided to stay here for our 10th anniversary and we loved everything about it. All of the staff members were excellent and accommodating. Our room was big and spacious and clean. We definitely got way more than we expected for what we paid. The hotel is right in the heart of the city. Everything we wanted to see and do was a short walk from the hotel. We definitely stay here next time we visit Charleston

Let me start by saying that our stay was perfect due to the impeccable staff at The French Quarter Inn! Kenyatta, Jenny, and Glori (just to name a few) made us feel like VIPs during our stay, and added a touch of their professionalism, southern charm and personalities to top it off! We literally bonded and I feel like I have life time friends! The amenities were unlike anyother. The beds...omgosh. Heaven. The die for. I don’t think (when we return to Charleston) we would stay anywhere else. In fact, I know we WOULD’T or COULDN’T as this is now where I consider “home” in Charleston. We can’t wait to return!!!! Love, Rick and Joy Urquhart (AKA Mr and Mrs Joy, hehe)
