I just returned from a wonderful 3 nights at the French Quarter Inn in Charleston, SC. I'm a world traveler and have experienced the pleasures of the best Grand Hyatts, Hiltons, and JW Marriotts. The French Quarter was those with a little more home-like atmosphere. Positives: elegant hotel with fine accommodations, great amenities, but most of all, excellent friendly staff. All of them are outgoing, anxious to insure your every need is met, and most all are well acquainted with both the city today and some of its history. As a schoolboy years back in Charleston and now a very senior citizen, I did put that knowledge to the test! My room was spacious and mostly very well appointed. With both mild daytime and chilly night temperatures, I was happy to find the room temperature easy to control and rapid to respond. One of the staff I really appreciated was the lady who serviced my room each day. Clean and fresh always! It is not an inexpensive downtown hotel but valet parking, early evening wine/cheese+, and a very substantial breakfast were included. I'm not sure whether to say this here or in negatives below, but you are literally just steps away from the city market with hundreds of options to spend much more than you ever intended on local crafts, foods, etc.! I count that a positive. Negatives: If you haven't been to it before, you should know its real entry is on a side street (Linguard St.) despite its Church St. address. I made more than one circle of the block before calling them to find out where to go to get my car unloaded and parked! Noise - my room was quite almost always except around 5 a.m. when trash collection on Linguard began. I'm a very early riser so it did not bother me, but if you are accustomed to sleeping in you might want to request a north side room when you reserve.

Wonderful hotel! My husband and I stayed over a long weekend to celebrate his birthday. I think above all else, the service was the most stand out part of our experience. All of the employees were so kind and helpful, but Bob (front desk) was top tier! The staff was so thoughtful, in our room, they left a handwritten birthday card, chocolates, cologne, champagne, and a candle to celebrate my hubs. The breakfast was lovely, but I think our favorite was the room service. They also had 3 types of candy available 24/7 for free at the front desk. Though we didn't use the free bikes, they were super cute, and plenty were available. The happy hour was also excellent. The hotel itself is older, but it's kept up immaculately - lots of charm. It also felt intimate and quiet, even during the social times (which is wonderful). The French Quarter Inn was a huge part of our amazing first trip to Charleston. We will definitely be returning.

The location of the hotel is great, just off Market and Church. It is easy to get to great restaurants, shopping, and historic areas. The hotel is quiet and comfortable. The rooms are upscale and large with multiple chairs, a good bed, and a high end bathroom, with luxury toiletries. They throw in a free breakfast buffet and a late afternoon wine and cheese tasting. The concierge service was excellent.

5 stars! Our stay at the French Quarter Inn in Charleston was outstanding. From check-in to departure all staff members were warm, professional, and genuinely attentive — special shout out to the front desk staff for great restaurant recommendations and helpful local tips. The room was spotless, beautifully appointed with luxurious linens and a comfortable bed, and the turndown service was a lovely touch. The complimentary breakfast, evening wine/cheese reception and nightly cookies and port wine were excellent and great added benefits. The hotel’s location is perfect — quiet, charming, and within easy walking distance to shops, restaurants, and the waterfront. Overall, it is an exceptional value for a true Charleston experience. We’ll definitely return and highly recommend the French Quarter Inn to anyone visiting the city.

5 stars for me! Hotel is well located - walk to everything. City market, carriage rides, main shopping district all super close. Staff was professional and efficient all around - quick check in, good car valet. Room was lovely and spacious (King). Breakfast, wine/cheese, and late nite cookies were all excellent! One note for future travelers- there is a building being built directly across the street and at some point that is going to mean noise - particularly for the rooms facing that side. Something to be aware of and ask about.

I am a former chef and am now a catering director at a private country club. Being extremely picky and wanting the best possible accommodations and food - we were nothing but happy with French Quarter Inn!

My wife and I stayed at the French Quarter Inn on a Monday and Tuesday evening. As our second visit to Charleston, we wanted to enjoy the Battery area history and restaurants for a couple days. French Quarter Inn was fantastic! The staff really set the stage for a memorable and rejuvenating visit. Charleston really is a unique and wonderful city, and I highly recommend the French Quarter Inn for helping us take a little of Charleston with us.
