French Quarter Inn in Charleston, South Carolina

For over a decade, the French Quarter Inn in historic Charleston, South Carolina has been indulging guests with its regal accommodations, thoughtful amenities, and superb service. A 2014 Condé Nast Traveler Platinum Circle Gold List recipient and a AAA Four-Diamond destination, the inn enjoys an envious central location in the heart of historic Charleston. With its timeless elegance, rooms - both private and public - are appointed in French urban décor coupled with Parisian blue accents and warm wood furnishings. Oversize guest rooms and suites appear even larger with expansive 14-foot ceilings. Behind guest doors are plush sanctuaries with triple-sheeted beds, recently renovated baths, and in some cases, working fireplaces and private balconies. The sound-sleep pillow menu and turndown service ensures a restful slumber.

Amenities seem almost too good to be true with complimentary champagne and lady fingers upon arrival, daily afternoon wine and cheese, fresh-baked cookies and milk in the evening, a gourmet continental breakfast served in your room or in one of the public areas, and 24-hour coffee service. Within walking distance are a number of fabulous restaurants, including the hotel's very own Tristan. With its urbane décor of hardwood floors, a whimsical banquette, and minimal appointments, Tristan offers a decidedly bold American fare menu for brunch, lunch or dinner plus an astounding 400-label wine cellar. Take a stroll along the city's cobblestone streets following your fine meal, enjoy a tour of an antebellum home, share a frothy cappuccino near the waterfront, or prowl through the shops on premises. There are also several enjoyable city tours that paint a fascinating picture of Charleston's centuries-old history.

Beautiful hotel overlooking the lively market. Immaculate room, luxurious bath, fireplace and a huge balcony with tables and chairs. Excellent breakfast and snacks were provided generously. Every detail was attended to in a prompt, courteous manor. Lovely bottle of champagne sent to our room as an anniversary gift. We had a wonderful time.

Great service and amenities, location was also good. Enjoyed the cocktail receptions and breakfast, nice touch with the cookies and port after dinner. Would highly recommend this place for a great getaway.

My wife and I have been coming two or three times a year to this great boutique hotel since a year after it opened, which must be about 15 years ago or so. It is our "home away from home" when we are in Charleston, SC. The service and accommodations have been unwaveringly consistently high since their inception. Just a year ago, Ruth's Chris Restaurant replaced the existing restaurant that is connected to the hotel physically just off the bell stand. It is convenient and the food is great. The complimentary breakfast in the lobby has been expanded to include even more choices (all good) and they have champagne for breakfast now also (great for mimosa's). The evening complimentary cookies, milk, tea, coffee have added muffins now and a nice Port wine. The complimentary 5pm lobby happy-hour is unchanged with wine, cheese, crackers, grapes, etc. There are 24 hour M&M's and jelly beans for the kids in the lobby as always. You are greeted warmly by the car valet and front desk staff and handed a champagne (if you want) all the while classical music is playing softly. The staff is wonderful and I have to call out Jenny and Jessica at the front desk for all their hospitality and help; along with the new Executive Administrator Tim who saw to it that we had all we needed. And we have to mention our friend Anice who is a warm and gracious Hostess who will make you feel right at home. This hotel is conveniently located right off of 'The Market' in the middle of the Historic District, with a great view of historic St. Phillip's Church just a half block away. The whole Historic District is easily walkable from the hotel. There is ample reason why this hotel is always winning the various awards that it continues to garner. Don't miss it.

My husband and I stayed at FQI on the second night it was open. After several consecutive years of visiting, we were unable to visit Charleston at all for about five years. Finally we were able to return and went straight back to FQI only to find that the same charming service and warm reception was still being offered. In fact some of the same staff were there and recognized us from that long ago. The constant care, availability of breakfast, wine and cheese, cookies and milk, turn down service, valet services, concierge. FQI is a fine luxury hotel and it is always so special to visit with them. Can't wait until we can go back.

We came back after a great experience in the summer when we booked the hotel for our wedding. This was during the solar eclipse and very hot in Charleston. This trip was another unique experience with the storm that struck Charleston making it a winter wonderland. As a result we were "stranded" in Charleston for an extra 4 days. The staff were incredible to accommodate each flight cancellation and extension. Carlo the Hotel Manager even checked in with us to make sure we were looked after. The awesome breakfast and wine and cheese happy hour each day helped when the city was virtually shutdown. We can't say enough about the hotel and staff. Jenny was an incredible help as well as Marvin that even helped get us tickets for a New Years Ball we could not get tickets for! Anice is a charming lady to great you when you arrive and Josh is the "Bellman extraordinaire" who was friendly and helpful. We would HIGHLY recommend this hotel to anyone visiting this charming city!!
