French Quarter Inn in Charleston, South Carolina

For over a decade, the French Quarter Inn in historic Charleston, South Carolina has been indulging guests with its regal accommodations, thoughtful amenities, and superb service. A 2014 Condé Nast Traveler Platinum Circle Gold List recipient and a AAA Four-Diamond destination, the inn enjoys an envious central location in the heart of historic Charleston. With its timeless elegance, rooms - both private and public - are appointed in French urban décor coupled with Parisian blue accents and warm wood furnishings. Oversize guest rooms and suites appear even larger with expansive 14-foot ceilings. Behind guest doors are plush sanctuaries with triple-sheeted beds, recently renovated baths, and in some cases, working fireplaces and private balconies. The sound-sleep pillow menu and turndown service ensures a restful slumber.

Amenities seem almost too good to be true with complimentary champagne and lady fingers upon arrival, daily afternoon wine and cheese, fresh-baked cookies and milk in the evening, a gourmet continental breakfast served in your room or in one of the public areas, and 24-hour coffee service. Within walking distance are a number of fabulous restaurants, including the hotel's very own Tristan. With its urbane décor of hardwood floors, a whimsical banquette, and minimal appointments, Tristan offers a decidedly bold American fare menu for brunch, lunch or dinner plus an astounding 400-label wine cellar. Take a stroll along the city's cobblestone streets following your fine meal, enjoy a tour of an antebellum home, share a frothy cappuccino near the waterfront, or prowl through the shops on premises. There are also several enjoyable city tours that paint a fascinating picture of Charleston's centuries-old history.

We stayed one night at the Inn. We were in town for a family trip and they let us get away for a romantic night alone. It's a very nice hotel, but the appearance isn't what wins the 5 stars. The staff and interactions with anyone working there is just divine. Reception greeted us with a delicious glass of champagne, which, when complimentary, is quite surprising. The evening wine and cheese was very nice with good quality cheese and snacks. The bed was extremely comfortable and I LOVED that they had a pillow menu! Luckily, the memory foam pillows that I would have chosen from the menu were already in my room. I suspect they read my pillow preference profile on Booking.com. There was no minibar in the room, though, there was a fridge in the room and a complimentary wine & cheese service in the late afternoon. Also, on our way back to our room after our evening on the town, we wanted to get a cocktail or glass of champagne to take to the room so we asked at reception about a bar in the hotel. The woman working said there was one just around the corner, but she could tell we didn't feel like leaving the hotel so she offered us each a glass of the complimentary check-in champagne. It was a very nice gesture, which we thoroughly appreciated!

We were first greeted by Taylor, who later brought us our luggage to our room. He was very informative with his suggestions for local restaurants that would fit our taste and personality. At the front desk Jenny was so helpful planning our first day in Charleston, it was perfect! The afternoon wine and app. social is so inviting-Anice the hostess was so personable and attentive, she made us feel so welcome! Later that evening we had the chance to meet Tim, a manager. It was clear he would go to great lengths to make our stay perfect! The Continental breakfast was so plentiful, in my world it was a full breakfast. The room was warm inviting and tastefully done, as is the entire hotel. Great location, great people, can't wit to return!!!

The French Quarter Inn is an amazing accommodation away from home. Every single staff member projected a genuine pleasure in answering questions and helping us enjoy our stay. The property is absolutely immaculate in every way with attention to detail over the top. One morning one of the housekeeping staff was outside a room adjusting what appeared to be a mop handle but with a roller end. I asked "how is that used"? She said, the roller is basically a large lint roller like one for clothes only larger. After we vacuum the room we use the roller to pick up anything the vacuum missed. I was really impressed but not surprised as everything at FQI was so perfect. Breakfast, afternoon and evening snacks are likewise fabulous served of only top quality ingredients. Once you attend you don't want to miss any of them. This is one of the few places my wife and I have stayed that's a little pricey but hands down the price is very well justified more than any I remember. Oh, location! We parked our car and didn't ask for it back until we were ready to drive home. Congratulations to management of French Quarter! Great job in every area!!! You will be seeing us again.

This is a topnotch hotel with topnotch service and amenities. You get from this hotel what you would expect from a top notch hotel, and what you pay for. Your encounter with the valet, bellhop, and front desk are unified and professional. The room was excellent, the bathroom huge, and the extras (robes, iron and ironing board, lighted magnification mirror, etc) were great. Evening cocktails were excellent and included various cheeses, meats, wines, dried fruited, etc. They do not scrimp here. Same can be said about the continental breakfasts. They do an excellent job, have great food, and coffee. They also offer an evening dessert and port options in the lobby as you are coming in for the evening. Very nice. A couple of additional hotel hints. Your GPS / phone will guide you to the Church Street address of the hotel and you will see that the hotel does not appear to be there. The hotel entrance is actually on Linguard Street which intersects Church Street a half a block between Market and Cumberland Street. Also, we stayed on room 202 which was very quiet, with a decent view of the bell tower for St. Philip's, though the lower view is just the restaurant below. This is a great hotel that should be part of your Charleston experience, and more than just a place to store your luggage, and a rack to sleep on!

Stayed as a family of four in a queen junior suite. The room itself is very large and nicely furnished. It had two queen beds and a queen size sofa bed. We added a roll away. While the room is very large, it is basically the same configuration as a regular hotel room with two beds on one side and the TV on the other. The extra space is really just additional space between the beds and TV - which is fine with us and provided space for the roll away. The bathroom was nice, although the drain in the shower was a little slow. What really shines here is the staff, who are all very helpful and friendly making us feel very relaxed and cared for. The breakfast and afternoon wine and cheese were wonderful. It's hard to imagine a better location for touring Charleston.
