HarbourView Inn in Charleston, South Carolina

Situated in one of America's most enticing cities and surrounded by volumes of history, the HarbourView Inn overlooks the bustling waterfront of Charleston, South Carolina. Boasting AAA Four-Diamond status and a Gold List award from the editors of Condé Nast Traveler, guests of this enchanting retreat can bask in the glorious appointments that recall the city's early years as a nautical trading hub with the Caribbean colonies. Rooms are a mix of Old-World wonders and haute appointments with fine antiques positioned beneath plasma-screen televisions. Hunker down in a room with arched windows and exposed brick walls or request a penthouse chamber with working fireplace, a mini bar stocked with complimentary refreshments, and a Juliette-style balcony overlooking the harbor.

Southern hospitality is contagious within the inn's confines. Amenities include complimentary wine and cheese in the afternoon followed by fresh-baked cookies and milk in the evenings. Added conveniences such as their silver service breakfast - delivered to your room, on the rooftop terrace or presented in the magnificent atrium lobby - are to be expected. It is likely you will want to explore the genteel cobblestone streets of Charleston, the city where Rhett Butler and Scarlet O'Hara honeymooned. The inn even offers complimentary historic walking tours, but you may not need a guide at all. Located within walking distance to Waterfront Park, the famous city market, several wonderful restaurants, a bevy of boutiques and antique row, the HarbourView Inn allows guests to explore with ease. As for those storybook antebellum homes, they too are plentiful, and many are open for the public to tour.

Stayed at the Harbourview Inn for 5 nights while vacationing in Charleston. The location can't be beat: close to water and many attractions and restaurants. We walked almost everywhere. Staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was comfortable and we had a nice view of the fountain at Waterfront Park. Fresh cookies and M&Ms were a special treat! Wonderful experience!!

Wife and I spent three nights at the Harborview Inn while taking in the sights etc of Charleston. Couldn't have chosen a better hotel/ location. Staff was friendly and very helpful. Recommend asking for a room in the "old" section of the hotel! rooms are fantastic. Price is very reasonable considering all that is included!

I literally said to my husband before leaving the HarbourView, "How can we go home after this?" Everything about this Inn was perfection: from booking to arriving to our stay and even our departure. Our original Inn had to cancel our reservation due to damage from Irma so with one week before our arrival to Charleston, we had to scramble to find alternate lodging. I am SO glad I found HarbourView!! The location is excellent - you are within walking distance of pretty much all you want to see and do in Charleston. Our room was beautiful with a lovely view, the beds were very comfortable, the bathroom and shower were great (weird, I know but I loved the back-lit mirror and the rain shower head). Breakfast was delicious - a nice variety to choose from and very yummy. We enjoyed being able to pick exactly what we wanted from the breakfast choices and have it delivered to either the rooftop, atrium or our room. We enjoyed the wine/cheese and milk/cookies (maybe a little too much). :) This was truly one of the best hotel experiences we've had. We look forward to returning soon!

My daughters and I picked the perfect location to stay in Charleston. The park and water fountain view out our window was beautiful. Our room was spacious and breakfast on the roof terrace was a great start to our days of exploring the city. Proximity to the French Quarter was a bonus. Service and cleanliness was top notch Would definitely stay there again.

I booked the most expensive room in Charleston, intentionally expecting a great experience. Disappointing. I chose this hotel because it has no facilities, no restaurant, no bar, just rooms. I like small hotels. It has good location, it's located in the touristy area of town, close to good restaurants, walk anywhere. It has its own parking, very convenient, very difficult to park in the area. I noticed that a lot of the reviewers valued that it's located on the water. It is located on the corner of a waterfront park that is full with tourists during the day, but at night it is a place to avoid, you can find a few homeless people on the benches if you take an early morning stroll through the park. The hotel door is locked at night and there is a sign "No public restroom", you gain access with your room card. Deceptively advertised as "park view room", the horizon of the view from my room included 1% park view. I stayed in room 112, it was very, very noisy, not because of street noise but some penetrating abnoxious machine noise from a mechanical room nearby. I could not sleep at all. The room was very spacious and comfortable with modern bathroom. The food with the included continental breakfast was nearly edible. I recommend skipping it, there are multiple great restaurants around. However, make sure you get your complementary coffee pot at the rooftop terrace, beautiful views with morning coffee or evening glass of wine. The service was chaotic and poor. I do not recommend this hotel especially for the price, not worth it.
