HarbourView Inn in Charleston, South Carolina

Situated in one of America's most enticing cities and surrounded by volumes of history, the HarbourView Inn overlooks the bustling waterfront of Charleston, South Carolina. Boasting AAA Four-Diamond status and a Gold List award from the editors of Condé Nast Traveler, guests of this enchanting retreat can bask in the glorious appointments that recall the city's early years as a nautical trading hub with the Caribbean colonies. Rooms are a mix of Old-World wonders and haute appointments with fine antiques positioned beneath plasma-screen televisions. Hunker down in a room with arched windows and exposed brick walls or request a penthouse chamber with working fireplace, a mini bar stocked with complimentary refreshments, and a Juliette-style balcony overlooking the harbor.

Southern hospitality is contagious within the inn's confines. Amenities include complimentary wine and cheese in the afternoon followed by fresh-baked cookies and milk in the evenings. Added conveniences such as their silver service breakfast - delivered to your room, on the rooftop terrace or presented in the magnificent atrium lobby - are to be expected. It is likely you will want to explore the genteel cobblestone streets of Charleston, the city where Rhett Butler and Scarlet O'Hara honeymooned. The inn even offers complimentary historic walking tours, but you may not need a guide at all. Located within walking distance to Waterfront Park, the famous city market, several wonderful restaurants, a bevy of boutiques and antique row, the HarbourView Inn allows guests to explore with ease. As for those storybook antebellum homes, they too are plentiful, and many are open for the public to tour.

My wife and I had a great first visit to the Harbourview with a perfect location with super friendly staff that is always there for questions or reservations and never is in your way. They anticipate your needs and are extremely friendly. Every restaurant recommendation was excellent and all within 1 or 2 blocks of the hotel. Sana helped me with my reservation and was so friendly and patient. Mack at the front door always welcomed us by name and arranged the complimentary hotel bikes when we went out in the morning. He had great insight for our trips to the local plantations. It is a 5 star hotel with great people and perfect amentities wine and cheese, breakfast, late night cookies and great people.

My wife and I were planning a fun weekend in downtown Charleston. Charleston is one of our favorite places to visit, as that is where we met when we were in school and started our life together. Because of its location, breakfast from Saffrons, and other amenities, we chose to stay at the Harbourview Inn. We checked in on Friday night around 9 PM but received a call from our son that his wife was in labor around 1AM on Saturday. We checked out then to drive and take care of our grandsons at their house. A little after 7AM we had another healthy grandson. Later that day I called the manager on duty, Betsy Gath, to see if she would wave the Saturday night charge. She graciously waved the Friday night charge as well because of the emergency situation. Because of how she treated us and the hotel accommodations and amenities, we will be back at the Harbourview Inn soon for that relaxing weekend together in Charleston.

My husband and I celebrated our 45th wedding anniversary by going on a staycation this weekend. We decided to stay at the Harbourview Inn for two nights. I ordered the chocolate covered strawberries(delicious) but the hotel also placed a dozen red roses in the room for us along with a really nice note of congratulations! The Inn is in a wonderful location (the French Quarter district) very close to everything worth walking to in the city. I reserved a harbor view room and I was slightly disappointed because only a sliver of the harbor was visible to us. I would recommend speaking with the desk when reserving to make sure you can get a great view if that is important to you. There is a complimentary breakfast served in one of three locations: your room, the atrium, or the rooftop terrace, which is a lovely venue. There is complimentary coffee, tea, and other nice items (m and m's) 24 hours, wine and cheese in the afternoon and milk and cookies in the evening. There is valet parking with an upcharge. The staff is very nice, and there is a relaxed feeling in this boutique hotel. It was all in all a very enjoyable stay...

We stayed at this hotel because the location was accommodating to walk around Charleston. There is so much more to offer at this hotel. The staff was amazing, kind , always available, helpful and knowledgeable. They always had a smile on their face -no matter what time of the day. Across the street was the pier we walked down and saw dolphins one night, sail boats. Down the way about 100 feet was the pineapple water fountain that was beautiful at night. There was a fountain right across the street kids played in. You could watch the busyness from two chairs in the lobby. There is a wine and cheese hour from 5-6pm- it was wonderful. Most of the guest came together and talked , we made some really good friends during this time. The cookies from 9-10 pm were fun. They catered breakfast, you had your choice if they brought it to your room, lobby or a sitting area. It was good!! I can't wait to go back to this hotel . It will definitely be our go to place when we are in Charleston. I can't wait to go back.

Really enjoyed our Grand Harbour View room while staying in Charleston. The staff was excellent, the view/room was great, and restaurants/historic sites were within walking distance. We were celebrating a special anniversary and typically wouldn't spend this much on a room. If you want to make a special occasion more special, I highly recommend the Harbourview Inn.
