HarbourView Inn in Charleston, South Carolina

Situated in one of America's most enticing cities and surrounded by volumes of history, the HarbourView Inn overlooks the bustling waterfront of Charleston, South Carolina. Boasting AAA Four-Diamond status and a Gold List award from the editors of Condé Nast Traveler, guests of this enchanting retreat can bask in the glorious appointments that recall the city's early years as a nautical trading hub with the Caribbean colonies. Rooms are a mix of Old-World wonders and haute appointments with fine antiques positioned beneath plasma-screen televisions. Hunker down in a room with arched windows and exposed brick walls or request a penthouse chamber with working fireplace, a mini bar stocked with complimentary refreshments, and a Juliette-style balcony overlooking the harbor.

Southern hospitality is contagious within the inn's confines. Amenities include complimentary wine and cheese in the afternoon followed by fresh-baked cookies and milk in the evenings. Added conveniences such as their silver service breakfast - delivered to your room, on the rooftop terrace or presented in the magnificent atrium lobby - are to be expected. It is likely you will want to explore the genteel cobblestone streets of Charleston, the city where Rhett Butler and Scarlet O'Hara honeymooned. The inn even offers complimentary historic walking tours, but you may not need a guide at all. Located within walking distance to Waterfront Park, the famous city market, several wonderful restaurants, a bevy of boutiques and antique row, the HarbourView Inn allows guests to explore with ease. As for those storybook antebellum homes, they too are plentiful, and many are open for the public to tour.

Amazing level of service was provided by all members of the staff, Andrew (bellman/valet) in particular provided service well beyond that expected. Hotel location was great, which was within walking distance to all the sights and activities in Charleston.

Hotel boasts free breakfast, but they don't tell you that you pick it off a list the night before and it comes to your room the next morning. You don't choose it yourself at a buffet. What came to the room was mostly uneatable. Very disappointing. Hotel boasts afternoon snacks. All I found were some rotten bananas. The bar on the roof was quite tacky. All the furniture pads were wet because they don't bother bringing them inside during a rainstorm or warn you before you sit down that they are wet. We all got soaked. The ambiance in general was not very welcoming on the roof, but the view was nice. When I checked out, the guy at the front desk didn't ask me "how was my stay" or thank me for staying there. The room was okay, but not memorable. Overall, I just wasn't impressed with this hotel. Did not live up to the standards I'm accustomed to when I stay in Charleston. However, it is a prime location for walking down the pier and visiting the pineapple fountain. But for me, still not worth staying here to enjoy these things. There are still other choices that are better for the discriminating taste.

Words cannot express how amazing the folks at Harbourview Inn made our trip to Charleston. The room was immaculate, the view was breathtaking (right at the corner overlooking the fountain), the made-to-order delivered to your room hot breakfast was delicious (try the cheddar biscuits), the complimentary 5pm charcuterie and wine was excellent, and even the 9pm cookies and milk were scrumptious. But what made this place stand out above all others was the phenomenal staff! Sana, Betsy, Arlanzo, Alyssa, Mark, and Lauren went above and beyond to make sure our stay was memorable. I would rate this place SIX stars if possible, all because of the amazing staff!!! They even got us into three of the top restaurants in Charleston, even though they had been previously booked! Amazing!!! Thank you for an unforgettable experience!!!

We've stayed at the Harbourview Inn for many years always right after New Year....but, the winter storm that hit Charleston this year was a real challenge for this tourist town! The staff was fabulous even though hotel delivery was non-existant, restaurants, airports, streets, transportation and stores were closed......breakfast was handled beautifully, evening wine etc was lovely, as usual..a great job by staff that couldn't get back to their homes the first night, but still smiling in the morning!!

We were happy with our stay and the lovely historic rooms , but the snow storm came and for a hotel size of 52 rooms there is hardly any common space a big disadvantage when you are grounded due to bad weather . Nothing to eat as there is no Resturant . A total NO for people traveling with children
