HarbourView Inn in Charleston, South Carolina

Situated in one of America's most enticing cities and surrounded by volumes of history, the HarbourView Inn overlooks the bustling waterfront of Charleston, South Carolina. Boasting AAA Four-Diamond status and a Gold List award from the editors of Condé Nast Traveler, guests of this enchanting retreat can bask in the glorious appointments that recall the city's early years as a nautical trading hub with the Caribbean colonies. Rooms are a mix of Old-World wonders and haute appointments with fine antiques positioned beneath plasma-screen televisions. Hunker down in a room with arched windows and exposed brick walls or request a penthouse chamber with working fireplace, a mini bar stocked with complimentary refreshments, and a Juliette-style balcony overlooking the harbor.

Southern hospitality is contagious within the inn's confines. Amenities include complimentary wine and cheese in the afternoon followed by fresh-baked cookies and milk in the evenings. Added conveniences such as their silver service breakfast - delivered to your room, on the rooftop terrace or presented in the magnificent atrium lobby - are to be expected. It is likely you will want to explore the genteel cobblestone streets of Charleston, the city where Rhett Butler and Scarlet O'Hara honeymooned. The inn even offers complimentary historic walking tours, but you may not need a guide at all. Located within walking distance to Waterfront Park, the famous city market, several wonderful restaurants, a bevy of boutiques and antique row, the HarbourView Inn allows guests to explore with ease. As for those storybook antebellum homes, they too are plentiful, and many are open for the public to tour.

I stayed at the Harbourview Inn for 3 nights while in Charleston for fun and sightseeing. I stayed in a lovely room with an exposed brick wall characteristic of historic Charleston. The bed was very comfortable, with turn down service, including softly played background music. They offered a room service breakfast with many choices, wine and cheese every evening, and cookies before bed. The staff went out of their way to answer questions and provide service. The hotel was in the perfect location, close to many attractions and restaurants. Definitely enjoyed eating at Poogan’s Porch, but there were so many options including magnolias (grits were amazing), Slightly North of broad. Servings are huge and easily shared....definitely will go back to Charleston!

When you are in Charleston, moving about the parks and historic houses and you are ready to end your day, you need to go no further than the Harborview Inn. In the morning, you will have a perfect start, as you have coffee and house-made breakfast while overlooking Charleston Harbor. Later in the evening just before you search out a new café serving your favorite southern specialties, enjoy the Harborview's complimentary wine and charcuterie. As your night winds down, there is one last treat - cold milk and warm cookies. However, one cannot stay at the Harborview without recognizing the most important reason you stay--it is every single person that looks after you while you are there. From the first light of morning to the last flicker of the nighttime stars, there will be someone there to help you, I can't express enough gratitude to the staff of the Harborview. Much thanks to all.

This hotel is perfect location to walk along the water front and close to shops, bars and restaurants. The room was spacious had a beautiful view and was very clean. The service was great from Matty at check in to Luke at Valet and Peyton at the front desk. Everyone we encountered was friendly and helpful. Breakfast was included and we had the option to get it delivered to the room which was very welcomed. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here and would stay at this property on my next trip to Charleston. Keep up the good work Harbourview!!

What a fabulous hotel, amazing water views in room 403, and wonderful and helpful staff. Taria, Belle, Alyssa, Sana, and Andrew were all first class, helpful members of the Harbourview team. They took pictures of us in the lobby, organized our days of touring Charleston, and valeted our car efficiently and always with a smile on their face. The afternoon tea service was over, when I called, but less than 5 minutes later, Alyssa was at my door with a personal cup of green tea. Excellent service, with genuine compassion. Everyone was delightful, and we will return to the Harbourview Inn when we return to Charleston.

Staff was very helpful & pleasant. Room was very comfortable & view of waterfront park was terrific. Breakfast was good and cocktail hour was excellent. Location is perfect since it overlooks the waterfront, is a block away from several good restaurants, and is within walking distance of historic sites and Market St. We will go back!
